  1. That building has put limitations on what they can do at PP now. Cannot be revamped into the boutique arena they are looking for. Western oval went for commercial partners in a totally different fashion and have more community upside i think. Arden just does not have the space and Windy hill is all about the pokies in the social club underneath. But that building looks like a battleship without guns just descended from a 1970s sci fi flick.

Round 1 match previews of fantasy....

JoBoss Vs BLUEsteel Dees.....Boss has the woods over the former premiers...(like how I got that in?) but the Dees looking good, tight game can go either way...second year blues could be a factor for the Boss....

Chiangmai Saints Vs bangkok bombers. Gees optus you could have used capitals....done and dusted CM Saints will wipe the bkk bombers off the face of the earth.....Chooks is a hard man to beat...19 on the Trott....you got your work cutout for you in your very first game OPTUS....

Rips Swans Vs GrannysApples...well really this is the game of the round 2 proven finalists Grant would be the most consistent TV fanatsy player either way in a very tight game not game to pick a wimner here....

Fj Flyers vs DikyDoks. ...reminds me in my first season sending up my club....will Gaz do the same and come from a loooooooong way behind and blitz the league?.....No he wont....your doomed son.....Fj is like his North, looks good wins a few looses a few claims hes in the Phillipines so this is your big chance to get a win first off since he's unlikely to make changes to his line up......

Here we go here we go go gooooo

You have incentivised the round with that post Arr. Got the competitive flow going. Actually have a few saints in the squad but will being offering chook no quarter; nada, niente, naught zero and zilch come the weekend.

I like the list i have for value but stll flying bit blind. A tweak or two tonight perhaps.

Q: Once it begins when can adjustments be made?

Q: Should I be picking players expecting all to score or can you carry an injury [an omission/non starter as an emergency] or is that just stupid?

Q: What is the best criteria  for selecting emergencies?

Just putting this up again a couple of new members hopefully for the tipping. Can the spreadsheet be posted again as well as the ladder forecast please

Get on Gazman. Indeed, all who are still thinking about it.

And given ARR's woes but triumphal battle with tech issues, I have added the chart or sheet  into a word doc format. Might be easier to mark up. [thx alex for the effort]. Either format is fine. PM the returns asap. !!

Remember, it's a one time play for regular updates. Nice corollary to the other activities going on here.

Don't forget the boozy lunch at Bradman's for the winner.

Ron will send you my picks otherwise temptation may challenge my ethics...

  4. Loose end being tidied. Thx rip and ron.

Week before the opening game and week after the grand final are two different kinds of absences.

Sports writers doing their previews rather than post mortems is emblematic of whats to come or .....not depending who you support. But glad to have the footy back.

    Good luck everyone!

Connolly has a preview here. nothing brave or bold but i think the season might just be closer than in past years. Percentiles might matter.

Mr Optus...ive managed to email the sheet to myself..i should be able to get reception to print it out for me....then i can fill in take a few pics and send to you in your private box....is that fine with you?

Ipad and iphone do not thorough the app recognise the format, you of course being a windows and no doubt 10 man should realise some of us gave up the world of frustration and went APPLE.....Gooooooo Deeeeeessssss

It will be worth the effort ARRR!!

Sorry your tech issues involves so many steps however I am sure you will charm all those drawn into your vortex to get this done. And given this is a one time spend for 23 returns it is a competition that needs a gloater. Just someone that can post "I told you so" and that seems to fit your profile from the short time i have been here. Can't say i will like it if you are right though.

The conjunction of fantasy, weekly tipping and the forecast comp bodes well for AFL tragics and nicely spread in terms of punter investment.

Will need some advice re fantasy soon as whilst my team seems okay, still lacking better understanding of the tricks.

It's tricky Ron. Most will get two of the the four at either end. Stupidly, I am tempted to put Essendon in both though. In reality however only the melbourne girls [top four] and men might do that double but will have a crack!

    Long range template helps here!

Which reminds me/ Do don't forget to submit guys. Time getting short now.

You get a weekly ladder, a periodical statistical punter assessment sheet and very different outcomes given your predictions are 23 round fixed. It is a great corollary to your weekly tipping. Not selling real estate... just an inclusive thread event ... get on!

Gold, yellow all shades of a sunny pastel. Hey, Joboss all good for the coffee table book .. Water towers in red and black would sell copies but not do much for the horizon, unless you were lost of course.

I note Richmond today were all yellow on field today. The AFL palette for all guernseys has been lightening over the years and not even sure why this is. Freo look like a team of cricket umpires at times. Geelong too. Essendon went grey 2015 for all sorts of reasons. A darker tinge is needed for balance!!

May as well be me that posts this. More rubbish from Essendon post saga. It is the gift that keeps on giving. Long four years.

Edit: And Alex, the herald did run a back page Tuesday i think re ticket prices. I couldn't read it ... I can only think the worst.

I watched both games today but the telecasts for me were strange. They would be showing the game and then the telecast would jump forward about 20 seconds. It would then return to the the game before the jump so you see the game being repeated. It happened in both games. Did anyone else notice this?

Rip are you sure your mbps is adequate? 12 might be ideal to stream but rare in los. Positive 4 mbps should stream okay, even less. Run a periodic download test and screen save the results. Might learn more about what is really happening with your connection.

Optus Bombers stick it up the Pies by adding $20 to a $40 ticket to make it a cool $60 day to sit on a plastic seat at the G on Anzac Day, reserved seating only and the rise unfortunately catches the red and black army as well....lovey people there....football for the elites....

Grist to your mill Alex but I will add the accuracy!!

Essendon says fans wanting to purchase a casual ticket to attend this year’s ANZAC Day match against Collingwood will still be able to secure a reserved seat for $25, despite media reports.

Tickets for home and away matches will go on sale on Monday including the April 25 blockbuster against the Magpies.

Chief Marketing Officer Justin Rodski said suggestions the cheapest ticket would be $60 were incorrect.

Ticketek have not released pricing yet either so your mate's mate may yet prove correct.

Essendon 'Elites' though did catch my eye.  Who do you barrack for?

Who was the St Kilda  player that took 12 marks (highest for the game) and scored 102 Fantasy points? It sounds like an Irish name.

THink that was McCartin, 4, swarthy black head. I  thought he would play as full forward or at least that was where his game was reprised when drafted number some years ago. He roamed a little more up the ground which gave Bruce more forwardline opportunity and took it. He had knee problems or some hiccup post drafting so seems to be getting it together.

  12. Walked down to Princess Park and it was a sad day for the blues. Beautiful autumnal day for everyone else though. Zero midfield intensity in the blue's second tier mids but saints just flogged them. Actually, Bruce smacked Carlton alone.

Okay so i enjoyed that! Preseason and better players omissions aside, love seeing the blue baggers searching for dictionaries to spell 'rebuild' - - again. It is the one tattoo they should all get upon drafting.

The J's for the saints were impressive. Billings, Stevens and steele just shared the ball amogust themselves. But Bruce won the day. Didn't miss that i saw. 6 goals. Hate pumping tyres early but the saints were good, have flexibility and scoring potential in 12- 15 players. Bruce w.as a surprise. Curnow and armfield just about sum up where carlton are at.  Alsorans that keep trying but should have more support.

Shame PP has been shelved. Not a bad venue and it is ggreat to see fotbal back there. Could almost see Doull out there on the wing at times.

I have to shoot off to a remote place for 3 weeks on friday and fear the afl tipping will not be up by then.

If i couldn't registar until the second week of the season, can anyone remember if i would get  away teams for round 1 or a no score.

    Cheers

FJ, wasn't around last year, surely though you can select now and have a proxy file, or could use the forecast picks entered. Otherwise hopefully, tipping offers 'away' teams as we all have busy moments in life and miss occasionally but don't know the ruling there.

    I'll stump if needed.

I'm in the tipping to win it I'm not sentimental over my team, opening on tablet is fine it's how do I get it back to you fella is the issue...

And let me get it right ... we tip what we think will be the winners for the entire season before the season starts, is there a deadline to get it back to you?

Ho excuse me on clarifying this as this morning is the very first I've seen on this.... I'm in if I can get it back to you...

Well you're more balanced than I when it comes to tipping as I do execute favorites relegate others with prejudice.

Yep, selecting all 23 rounds in one hit or over the preseason and then they are locked in. Those already lodged are free to resubmit until first game, round one.

Have a play and see how you go Alex but i think you are overthinking it. Once you have finished selections save as 'alex forecast tips'  and and PM me. If you can post here it can be done.

Hope everything is going well with the sāw p̀ā!!  And remember to keep saying  mā d̂wy kạn khrạb!

We all have our reasons, but it is easily done on a tablet. The file has pre selected options for you per round. Just tap and swipe as you might on one of your dating sites Alex.

But, if you are worried you'd fall foul of picking Melbourne too many times with your preseason hype, then I understand. Many fall for that trap.

Essentially,  in the Forecast comp you fill in all 23 round tips prior to the first game and it is done. I will tabulate them weekly with  running scorecard hopefully on a Monday.

All you need to do is download the excel sheet below, click your selected picks in column 'E',  save it with your TV name included in the file name and PM it back to me.

I have a prize selected and will offer it up  if there is enough interest. See what you think!

    AFL football forcast 2017.xlsx

Okay so this is a bump/reminder, long range tipping is open for those up for a crack.

Getting some PM's and questions. Ron has helped by being the guinea pig and ironing out process.

Essentially, it is a 23 round forecast with weekly monday updates. Do not be surprised if this goes better than your weekly tips but once done out of the way. We might have a lot on with AFL fantasy for those in that and also weekly tipping if that happens but all good threadwise footy stuff i suppose.

Download the excel file, pick the winner in column 'E', save and rename the downloaded xlsx file with your TV handle included in the file name and PM it back to me.

5000baht is behind the jump for winner at Bradman's Soi 23 and inaugural gloating right.

Rumour has it that Dustin Martin will be in red, white and black in 2018.  Saints will have huge salary cap with the likes of montagna and Riewoldt retiring and 3 current 1st round picks.  Being discussed on radio this morning.

You do not want him chook. The saints have drafted plenty of good mid types, you have a fast side, plenty of outside ball users to cover... just do not need that element in that young group. And then there is his cap cost. Look elsewhere..
