  1. I don't have a way to treat the grass, but think you might like to put some bottles of full water inside, the 1 liter kind, at the corners where the male dogs (I guess they're male) prefer. The bottles must have no label so they work like mirrors and dogs don't pee when they see these bottles. The minimart near here puts about 10 bottles around their building.

  2. One more option for Ho Chi Minh City - Siem Reap trip I found from this website. I haven't done that yet.

"The Saigon Passenger Transport Company (Sapaco Tourist) will open a bus route between Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap Province in neighboring Cambodia next Monday, according to a company source.

The route will cross the border at Xa Mat in Vietnam's southern Tay Ninh Province and Trapeang Phlong in Cambodia's Kompong Cham Province.

At 500 kilometers in length, the route will reduce travel time by more than two hours, compared with the current route through border towns Moc Bai and Bavet.

The bus will depart at 7 a.m. at 309 Pham Ngu Lao Street in the city's District 1 and arrive at the Sapaco office at #0667 National-No 6 Reap in Cambodia, with a one-way bus fare costing US$24 per passenger."

  3. Amazing how some posters react to a simple observation. I just made a price comparison for taxi's in 2 countries.

I was going to add the difference in price for a coke in the cafetaria but thank god I didn't, because I would have to deal with remarks about wages, unions, quality of water, cleanliness, environmental issues, religion etc.etc.etc.

I'm also not going to mention the friendliness (or rudeness), the weather, the long distances etc.

Good incentive to stop posting useful information on this board, for you'll never know how much flack you're going to receive.

    cheers

  4. H90, my husband is from the North near Central Thailand, not up North like Chiangmai.

    Brigante7, LOL.

Jaideeguy, I tell my husband all the time "Don't jump into my throat. If you know what I'm talking about, just listen like I listen when you repeat your stories for the 5th time" :o or "Let me finish" :D

  5. Alaina,

You have a great way to learn written Thai by reading the street signs. By the way, in Phitsanulok, there's one in Thai then the second line in English which reads "Sanambin" :o . It should read "Airport" instead. Poor those foreigners knowing no Thai.

On Channel 3 previously from 7pm, I watched the "Keen keaw klang jai" and "Me krua khon mai" and understood everything. They then changed the broadcast time so I don't watch any more.

  6. I also learned from that book by Bengawan Becker, "Thai for Beginners". A lady who worked for a Thai company in my country taught me 3 times a week, 90 minutes per time. I learned Thai in 6 weeks before moving to Thailand to live with my Thai husband. I still talked English to him back then as 6 weeks didn't help me.

Fortunately (or unfortunately :o ) my sister in law talks nonstop so after about 2 years, I could talk and argue in Thai :D . Sometimes I chit chat with the lady next door about daily life, how she lives, how people look down on her for being poor.... I understand almost everything when I watch tv. I've been living here since Feb 2004. My reading and writing are very bad.

I become lazy and don't learn now since I think I "already" know Thai LOL (people say the more you study, the more stupid you feel you are).

  7. & also, same same but different, why is it they continue to talk to each other, we'll attempt to, when they're walking away from each other & there is no physical possibility that the other Person who should be listening, can actually hear the other one ??

    So true! :o

One more: my sister in law, when I hide myself in laundry room, talked to herself :D

"Why is this thing staying here?"

    "What is it?"

    .....

    Is she the only one?

  8. Many years ago I read that there should be (as I remember) 4 spaces when we stand with our legs together: 1 near the feet, 2 near the knee and 1 near the private part.

Thighs must be together unless you're too thin.

Shins (between feet and knee) are together if your legs are straight.

  9. I've heard they wanted to change to "Khun" as this is the safest way, same as "Nai" (Mr) for men. It's so funny if a married woman is addressed as "nang sao" by the new "rule" because Thais for so many years get it as "not having a husband".

If you understand Ms = divorced, you're wrong.

    Ms doesn't show marital status.

  10. Do you know how to use this? I have googled but found nothing related.

The bottle has Japanese at the back. All I can read are:

    Bense by HANAKO Tokyo

    Body Refreshy

    150ml

The liquid looks like gel and smells very good, in light blue/green color (not either blue or green).

    Thank you for any help.

  11. I have another problem. My sister in law doesn't know how to tie the bag properly. Water and oil from foods inside come out and wet the outside bag. She puts the band on, twist it once, put it on the other side, twist it once, until the band gets short and cannot be twisted. :o

  12. They use bum "guns" :o so what you think as t.paper is the multi purpose tissue paper :D .

When I eat, my hands are clean or only 2 fingers of left hand are used. After a meal, I wash my hands and mouth at the dish washing sink.

Husband and sons can't live without the hand tissue on table when eating, but for a few months I don't buy new, they still survive without making the table and chairs dirty. When I put the box there, they just pull and pull :D .

  13. We ordered from Index Living Mall in Phitsanulok more than 100km away from our home. We'll have an L shape build in kitchen set including a 2 part sink and an oven (oven costs around 20,000 Baht itself) and the whole set costs us 190,000 Baht.

We changed the design 3, 4 times until now our set is too long which narrows the entrance and we have no space to place the washing machine. Back then we didn't think we would put the washing machine in the kitchen.

In a month's time, they'll bring the set to fix in our home.

Check if HomePro is near your house. They have build-in and very nice ready made kitchen sets also. If I had known this, I would have ordered from HomePro and would have taken a ready made set for only about 100,000 Baht.

  14. The mistake was when they let cars go on the toll fee paying roads (elevated roads). After this period, people bought too many cars.

Elevated roads should be used for trains, skytrains and buses only.

When being stuck forever on ground floor, no one would want to drive their own cars.
