  1. They plan to move to the new location next month.

Bill, my husband also drives 400 km each way. Left home 5:30 am. Had some quick shopping. Met our daughter for dinner and reached home 10:30 pm.

He complains to the officer every year why they don't set up another office at Phitsanulok which is 1 hour drive from our place :o . He says Thai people (like him) like to complain & to bargain if they're not happy.

Thanks Harry for the taxi tip.

  2. TT, you're funny.

If you think my photo looks fake, I just use a marker instead of sticking a paper up. Looks more "real" then. :o I told hubby we should submit on the day we come to "hear the result", save them one time of digging file but hubby said they may not approve for the reason "file not complete". Ok, will EMS.

Whopper, are you having a non-immigrant visa for having Thai spouse also?

  3. The current location is not near skytrain or subway either. We must ask a friend in BKK to help drive us in or a policeman will fine us for some reasons. We're upcountry people and are not familiar with the traffic deep in town. If having no help, we often park at Mo Chit free parking place and take the BTS. Taxi would be slightly higher but we don't want the traffic jam.

Hubby says the new location is not in a condensed place.

  4. In our city, the school lets every child perform to build up their confidence. I support this but I don't like the loud sound too and my ears are shaking when being there. I managed through. Some first year pupils just stood on the stage and cried :o Overall I enjoyed the evening.

  5. You said "Taking him to another school won't solve the problem" but are the other schools have better quality? Better teachers? My husband had to send and pick our son everyday as the better school is 30 minutes away by car. Schools near our home have not excellent teachers, students are not bright and some boys often argue and fight. Our child had no big issue like yours but he once said "Mei yak pai rong rian-I don't like to go to school". After the change, he said he enjoyed studying at the new school and now we sent him to an even better one.

Recently he buried himself to games and didn't care about books. His results dropped and exactly he's now 13. Thanks Bina for pointing out this. We asked our daughter to help to talk to him. We sit down with him and asked what problems are. Seems that he listens to the sister and we noticed the change.

Our other son has big and strong body so, when he was still in local school, he protected himself (fought against them) after bad classmates threatened him. He came to the level that he had a knife in his motorbike! Needless to say we sent him to another school 100km from home. He stays in the school dorm and that helps him to allow more time for studying.

  6. I have the same thought about biological clock that Cathy talked about. Thanks.

You know what, when I was in school (from 11-14 y.o.), I hated it so much that I had to be up by 5:30 or 6am, had the cold left over foods and rice (No microwave. Who can have appetite to eat that early?), went to school before they closed the door at 6:30am sharp. The class started at 7 but they let us be there 30 minutes for reviewing our homeworks. Until now I still think that is against the common sense. Children need more sleep hours than adults. I don't know what time they start now but in Thailand, I still see students in college uniform hanging around and waiting for bus by 9am.

  7. Teenager mother? :D This idea is hilarious, Bina. :D

Torrenova, I'm a night owl too but not until 4am like my children which is something I can't understand.

Son says the internet speed at night is fast. A few times a year, the electricity is cut around 8pm because the rains were too heavy. I love this fun part. Hubby can't watch tv. Children have nothing to do in their private rooms with no aircon nor fan. The crowd walk out then feeling regret (they never leave their seats at night), walk in again, then walk out to blame the cut, then walk in. They swear they won't waste another minute. Their time got to be in front of something to watch, hear, listen, view or play. So candle is on. They gather for a chat. This is so cool that normally they argue with the tv (they discuss when the tv is on with loud sound). Wondering if they can hear anything from each other when they talk but eyes glued to the tv screen :D and keep changing channels :D:o .

All went to bed around 9pm! Thank you. Power cut brings family members closer.

I'm sure as hel_ that those waking up by 2pm cannot sleep at 9pm.

  8. People where I live smile a lot more than people in Ho Chi Minh City. It took me 3 years to be completely comfortable living in a rural area. I know why hubby never wants to live in big cities. Can I add one more? :o Better shopping compared with Vietnam.

  9. Thank you Maestro for the link.

    BigSnake, you're funny :D .

TT, how do you think if I add the house number in the photo by using the "add text" in ACDSee Pro Photo Manager? We're in the @-century :o See the sample attached. Imagine it's the photo of front house.

  10. When I was young, I was annoyed when my aunt woke me up at 6am. She said I woke up late! These old women were familiar with getting up by 4am for farm work. I lived in the city.

25 years have passed and now, as I consider getting up around 8am is normal, although I'm up by 7, our children still sleep until 2pm or 4pm. They're up by 5 or 6 to go to school, so when they return home, we let them sleep as much as they want. They stay until 2am to download music, to chat with friends and to play games. The other night our daughter talked with a friend via mobile phone until 5:30am. When she completely went to bed for a "night sleep" and turned off all lights, all sounds, it was after 6 in the morning!!! She was using European time zone in Thailand.

We're trying to tell them that teenagers won't maximize their height if they don't have a good night sleep before midnight. But seems that some teenagers feel it's a waste to sleep by 11pm and wake up by 8am.

    What about your children?

  11. I only expect a ring if he proposes or talks about marriage. In boyfriend/girlfriend stage, I don't. It's more like "I buy you a ring and I'll stop flirting around. We are now a couple and I have a plan for a long term relationship".

Movie often shows about the engagement ring so many ladies including me consider it important. We can buy any ring we want as it's not too expensive, but a ring from a man we love means a lot. I'm proud to wear it and, as 2muchcoffee posted, it's the message to other men "Look, I'm in a relation. You hopeless do not stare at me". :o

  12. They had none in there (your) file in other words? There seems to be a push this year to be sure the file contains some photos. The requirement is not new - they asked us five years ago here in Bangkok - reason then was they could avoid house visit by having the photos.

None in my file since 2004. I hope they don't want 4 photos every year. If they had asked for photos back in 2004, I would have understood.

Rainman, have you never submitted any photos before (except the 4cm x 6cm size of course)?

Naka, I'm still guessing what English word it was :o

  13. sbk and lopburi, I had my visa granted in 2004. Asked for extention every year since then. This was the 4th time I asked for an extension. They never said anything about photos since 2004. That was why I have to laugh.

And, like I posted in other thread and lopburi said I should do, no one said about address reporting every 90 days to me. I just pretend I don't know :o . Yesterday I walked around & saw a huge notice board in Tor Mor Suan Lum regarding address report.
