  1. yes it was an extension along those lines

Why are you being so vague?

Why anyone uses an agent is beyond me. It's very simple, just give immigration what they ask for and you'll get the extension. There is no point 'fighting back' as IO's have orders and will usually follow them to the letter. That principal applies to all Thai bureaucracy.

Not many people have 400,000 or 800,000 lying around!

  2. You can get a work permit and work with a non-o visa. No need to change to an extension.based upon working.

If your income from working is 40k baht or more you can use it to apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage.

Hi ubonjoe, could you do me a favour and point me in the right direction to find and print the regulation, which stipulates that a work permit can be issued on a non-o extension of stay? Thanks in advance for your help.

The regulations only state a non immigrant visa is needed. It does not specify the class of the non immigrant visa.

You can look at the WP1 application and see that is what is stated as a requirement. http://wp.doe.go.th/wp/images/form/Form_tt1.pdf

Thanks. The people at my school are claiming that a non-o is not a non immigrant visa. That I should get a non-b, which I don't want to do.

  4. Wages being cut.....many teachers do not get any pay for days not teaching...including 90 day reports or Visa business. She should consider herself lucky she was not fired outright !

Not sure what teachers you refer...my experiences are much different. This matter has been brought to me and I'm asking about it. I've personally never seen a teacher have his/her salary cut for being absent, even in case when they never return. You may be referring to a situation where the teacher is on an hourly wage and/or working for an agency. The context of my inquiry is direct hire by the school and monthly salary. Thank you for your effort and reply but out of context.

Direct hire: B5/m for being late or for leaving early, and no pay for visa run/sick leave = due to abuse by NES.

  5. Hmm! A guy pulled a hammer at me today for something similar. There was about five meters or less between my car and the one in front. He cut in (a Jazz) and slammed on his brakes. I almost rear-ended his car, so I changed lanes, rolled down and waved my hand at him. That was it. He flipped and cut in front of me again, sideways this time, brandishing a hammer. I believe he must have been watching too many movies.

I'm getting a dash cam asap.

  6. Suggest you head to the nearest border, pay the overstay, and exit.

I don't think that is possible, with a fake stamp in his passport, without getting arrested.

Fake stamp or not his legitimate permit to stay has expired and he's on overstay. Whether he surrenders at an immigration or at the border he stands the chance of arrest. I'd rather take my chances at the border.

    Okay.

  7. My g/f just told me her sister went to fill up the gas tank it was almost empty. She said 400 bahts please and paid after the fill up. On her way home she noticed the gas gauge had hardly moved. Rather than turn around and complain she continued home fuming. My g/f tells me this has also happened to a friend twice on a fairly new car and the gas station attendant claims her gas gauge must be malfunctioning. She threatened the gas station owner that she would contact the police and he seemed unfazed. Anyone have a similar experience? Is this one method of theft one should watch out for? I know when I drove a car and filled up with gas I always watched the needle climb before leaving even when I did self serve.

    Yes, once.
