  1. Ari/Victort monument/Huai Kwang areas are all good and within your budget. Huai Kwang is a lively place with a lot of thai restaurants and has it's own MET Station.

I lived in ladprao area for 4 years. Central ladprao is great for shopping. Loads of thai restaurants nearby and close to JJ market.

  2. Nobody getting narky. ;)

I agree with your last comment. In my experience I have quite a few male friends who are married in Thailand with children (all in their 30's, like myself). All their relationships are of the same age/economic background. They work in Thailand and are happy to remain here. They also are commited to their relationships. I also know of a few females from foreign countries who are also married here in a similiar situation. Perfectly normal, decent relationships, just as we would have back home. They are the people I was representing when I remarked about your earlier post.

I find that the foreigners who have short relationships with bar girls or the like, don't really settle down here and maintain a job and family. They are the foreigners that we see in the more high profile places i.e tourist areas. However I would say that most of the foreign men (and women) that I knew who lived and worked in Thailand were all in meaningful relationships. Non of them were married to bar girls (not saying that this isn't common).

It would be interesting to find out exactly what was the demographic for relationships, say even, from TV forum members. I am sure that most of them would be normal. Most (from my experience) relationships between Thais and foreigners, both men and women are normal outside the seedy parts of town. Unfortunately too many people stereotype a lot of foreign men because of what the media image, word on the street is. Being tarred by the same brush as sex tourists ain't that nice a feeling.

I do agree that in general Thai girl quite like Foreign men. And that it is a situation that is all too often taken advantage of.

  3. Yes I know that already. However do you think that if Thailand was likesay, recognised as a place for women to come to get their rox off (not the small areas with gay bars), would they act the same as the many males?

  4. Fine.

Would you say that your generalisations are more accurate in refering to Foreign men who are here as tourists or are here to work for a longer term.

I guess that the image of foreign male tourists in places like Pattaya, Patong, Soi Cowboy, Nana and Papong does not help other foreign males that are working here. I guess that there is not anywhere near the availability for this type of tourism for women. I wonder if there was would it be as popular?

  5. A very biased opinion, I'd say. Then again, coming from a Western woman........

I guess this kind of answers the question a lot. Opinionated western women are not all that. I guess that is why a lot of Foreign men rather Thai girls. And why Thai guys seem to avoid long term relationships with western girls to a degree.

is having an opinion, opinionated in your view then?

Opinions are fine, I think that everyone has them. However some opinions are not always right. There are many examples of this in the world.

clearly you have no thai language skills

I can speak Thai to a quite a good level.

or have spent a great deal of time with thai women if you think they aren't opinionated or have opinions.

I was in a relationship with a Thai lady for four years and lived in Thailand for seven years. Was single for the last 3 years of my stay there. Not as you say DESPERATE for a Thai girlfriend of any description!!

As for my "opinion" being biased, of course it is, it's my opinion based on knowing multiples of women in Thailand, with or without thai partners.

I know a lot of women in Thailand both foreign and Thai. ALL women, both Thai and Farang don't share these biases towards ALL foreign men. If they did I guess they would not be my good friends.

and for the record i've been with my thai husband for 10 years already

Congrats. Did you get YELLOW FEVER :whistling: like the foreign men you seem to know so much about, in your opinion....

& he has no fear of women nor feels the need to insult women to get his rocks off

Why would I fear women? It's all about the right kind of women, right? When did I get my rox off commenting on your post? Presumptious, aren't we?

Try not to stereotype too much.

    Thanx.

  6. This isn't taiwan & the chinese culture really has no bearing on what thai people do (non chinese-thai anyway)

I think you will find that the reason for less relationships between western women & thai men are 1) less women are around 2) most women don't seem to get he same kind of "yellow fever" many western men do the moment they get off a plane & become desperate for a gf of any description 3) they come with a western spouse/bf & don't cheat 4) they aren't attracted to asian men 5) are here for work & not interested in forming a realtionship with anyone

There are likely plenty of other reasons but these are off the top of my head.

  7. There are 4 courts in front of the National stadium Hua Mark. Always busy in the evenings and easy to get a game.

There is a slighly better court a five minute walk away at ABAC (Assumption University) Hua Mark. A lot of foreigners play there in the evenings. It is an outdoor court at the back of the University.

    Hope this helps.

  8. Forums - for people with nothing better to do.

Or for people who want to find info re:travel, banking, real estate, autos, gardening, movies, etc, etc, etc....

That too. However it doesn't take thousands of posts to find a bit of info. Then again, I guess regular forum users make things more interesting and can supply valuable information to lesser users who need a quick answer.
