  1. My dehumidifier gets no more than mildly warm, and does a great job of removing water. You could have more than one too. I hardly ever used the AC in my C M hotel room, and only during the day. Fan was enough at night. Here I don't have a basement. Don't have central heating either. NZ didn't even have mandatory insulation for new houses till 1977. My house was built in the 50s and had no insulation added during building, If we were rich we had electric blankets, and if poor we had an extra blanket. The bathroom was the same temperature as outside- plastic toilet seats are cruel. Heating was an open fire, and once that went out no heating at all in an uninsulated house. Even now, my room is uninsulated and the bathroom is unheated and the toilet seat is plastic. Nothing much changed for me, apparently. But then, you do not need it because indoor heating lowers the humidity almost completely. Rubbish. I have a heater which works well, even in an uninsulated room- at 18 degrees and 15 while sleeping ( the Antarctic base I worked at was always at 15 degrees, so good enough for me. My crying windows say there is massive humidity. I can't run the dehumidifier at night because it's too noisy to sleep. Interestingly, the Antarctic air is so dry ( the water gets frozen out of it ) that we had to add water to it in the sleeping huts.
  2. If they actually think they can arbitrarily mandate a number they can enforce they are as dumb as Canute.
  3. They probably thought it was more scary than 6 degrees which no one would care about.
  4. Cars kill millions but they don't ban cars. Wars kill millions but they will keep having them. Does it really matter if we die of heatstroke or because someone dropped a bomb on us while we were sleeping? Dead is dead.
  5. and yet, while you and I know that it's a result of overpopulation, the great and wise never mention it. I guess they want more people to pay more tax for them to waste.
  6. We posters are an unhappy lot though, so it was doomed before you posted it. Misery loves company. In Saudi my only good days were with a friend moaning about the place, and it's such a <deleted><deleted> that we never ran out of things to moan about. The ONLY thing I miss about it was the money, which was great. All gone now though.
  7. I accept he was probably looking at something to do with women, but was it porn? These silly days even Playboy centerfolds were classified as "porn" by the wokistas. Porn is actually banned in Thailand, so it could just have been a bit of erotica, and the easily offended assumed it was porn- if he had a pillow on his lap it might help their case, but if not, likely they are talking rubbish.
  8. As I've been saying. If she was the anointed one from above, she should be miles and miles ahead, and Trump should be eating dust, but he's not. If she can't do better during the honey moon phase, she is, IMO, severely struggling to tread water. Once the honeymoon is over, if she does not win the debate convincingly, it's not good for her at all. Even a draw in the debate is not going to suffice. This now, IMO, is Trump's to lose, if he behaves himself in the debate. All he has to do is get a draw to win the prize.
  9. The story was more about the "staring" than the not buying. How do you know the sound was on? Were you sitting next to him? Phones come with a handy function to not sound loud enough so other people could hear, or perhaps he had an earphone in. My 20 year old mobile has one of those.
  10. Ah, I missed that before. A female owner- explains all.
  11. Harassed is it? Was he licking his eyebrows while "staring"? Seems LOS is going western full wokeness. He might just think they are pretty, but in the fevered minds of the easily offended he was imagining naughty things. If they didn't like it they should have just complained to the manager, and personally accosting him was dumb, IMO. Anyway, if he's sitting looking at the vegetation were the females lurking in the undergrowth for him to stare at them? Sounds to me he just looked at them on the way in, as most men will. I don't care what he watched, most on the internet is rubbish anyway, but he's stupid for sitting where people can see what he is looking at. Of course he was wrong for not buying anything- it's a business, not a charity for lonely old men, but that could have easily been dealt with politely by the manager.
  12. You need to stop worrying about what anonymous posters say on here. Worry only about your own positive outlook. I bought a book at the Op Shop today for $1- it has a positive saying to start every day. Start the day right and the rest will follow. OR put all the negative posters on ignore.
  13. You can never have enough put by for emergencies. My hobby is Japanese anime, and as an anime DVD costs 3 times the price of an ordinary DVD, it's an expensive hobby. Obviously as a pensioner I'm limited as to how much I buy, but as there are thousands of anime movies and series out there, if I ever win big on Lotto, I'm going to buy enough to fill a warehouse, and I'll have my own private cinema to watch them in. I might even move to Japan where I can hire an AV actress to provide my drinks service.
  14. IMO not a snowball's chance in hell. No species can survive if it destroys it's environment. Anyway, we are breeding ourselves into extinction ( at the same time as governments are calling for more children- seems the horde is not an acceptable substitute for our tribe ).
  15. What they mean is that we are destroying the ability of the planet to support humanity. They think the planet cares about the insignificant species running around on the surface, or at least in their minds humans are important LOL. IMO the planet is treating us like an ant biting us, and you know how we treat an ant that bites us.
  16. When the end of the sun's life approaches it will expand till it burns the Earth to a crisp. That'll really give the luvies something to complain about.
  17. Excellent way to get people killed.
  18. Only embarrassing to you and your ilk. I find Harris nauseating, but I don't think that applies to everyone.
  19. By that logic a poor person that is hard off can go rob your house and get away with it because they had a hard life or such like. I don't think that is how it works. If people in Mexico are hard done by, fix Mexico. The US isn't a charity for poor Mexicans.
  20. If that's the price to be paid to stop using criminals and pay a proper wage so be it. It's only like it is because IMO too many politicians are colluding in corruption.
  21. Which is exactly what I would expect you to say. However, reverse the situation and it is Harris being on trial just before the election and I am certain that your opinion would be 180 degrees different.
  22. I classify myself as having everything that I need and almost nothing of what I want.
  23. Heat is just one way that nature is culling the pesky humans that are destroying the planet.
  24. I pretty much do all that anyway. I don't get what I really want though, and I'd pretty much do anything to get that, except hurt someone or end up in jail.
