Your essential guide to Thailand’s new driving license points system

These situations are for collecting cash only. No tickets are issued, and the cash goes into brown uniformed pockets, both the collectors and their superior's. -
Michelin Guide released its annual 2023 Bib Gourmand list of restaurants in Bangkok and other provinces in Thailand late last week. Source Have a look at what's featured in Isaan...

Cotto have a similar product but maybe not exactly the same as what one would expect to buy in the UK... If you visit any of the large Home Hardware stores (Global House, ThaiWatsadu, HomePro, Boonthavorn, etc.), most have large displays of tiles for customers to peruse.

Same here... I too had chicken pox as a child, was later vaccinated, and like you was infected with shingles here in Thailand about 3 years ago. It is extremely contagious and I infected my wife too. We had to avoid people for several months. I still wear the scars although the symptoms no longer bother me.

I've been doing a bit of research on automatic water pumps and sound pressure levels is one of the items I wanted to compare (amongst other things). Data on domestic water pumps is difficult to come by as far as noise levels are concerned. But first an infographic on comparing common noise levels: FWIW here is a table of my findings re noise: Sound Pressure Levels for Automatic Water Pumps So the Grundfos Scala 2 is by far one of the quietest water pumps on the Thai market.

Yes. I've seen them often in ads on FB... but I couldn't find them doing a search. Blue PVC, same as most Thai PVC domestic water fittings. I wish that I'd kept a copy...

You are looking for a PVC flap valve... not sure what you call them in Thai. This one is not spring loaded, it just relies on gravity after the drain water has exited.

Yes I was able to finally contact them via LINE too... just this morning actually. They wanted my home address so they could send me a quotation. Unbelievable how backward thinking some organisations are. And as soon as a falung was detected on the phone the line went dead so telephone contact and email contact is ignored. Can you please advise how much your test cost? And did you send the samples to them or did they collect them?

OK, I'll go first... You haven't given your location so I'm assuming you live in NE Thailand... I reckon about 6K for labour and you supply (and pay for) all the material. You have already provided the costs for the tiles, cabinet doors, and the sink, but you must add the grout, the door frames, the hinges and handles, the water piping components (both supply and drain), and a faucet (unless you want hot water so you'll have to add a mixer type faucet, connecting hoses and a water heater and electricity supply). I use the average of 1K baht per day for skilled trades labour who provide all their own equipment... less for semi-skilled or a local jack of all trades. Others may have different ideas...

One of the other forum members provided me with this a few months ago which should help you with your estimating... dependent on the quality of the build (low/medium/high) of course. The costs are compiled from 2018 to 2021 and show approximate cost in baht/sq.m.

PEA and Solar how low can you go?

Most new solar panels retain 80% production after 30 years A five-year Sandia Labs study on solar module degradation shows that 13 out of 23 tested module types have effective lifetimes exceeding 30 years. The US Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratories has concluded a five-year, early-life solar module degradation study that examined 834 fielded PV modules, representing 13 types from seven manufacturers in three climates. The report, recently published in Progress in Photovoltaics, studied 23 systems in total. Six of the studied were determined to have degradation rates that will exceed panel warranty limits in the future, while 13 systems demonstrated the ability to extend their lifetime beyond 30 years. “Lifetime” in this study is defined as the amount of time a panel produces electricity above 80% of its beginning-of-life rate. The report said that module costs have fallen by 85% since 2010 due to economies of scale, higher efficiencies in cell designs, production line automation, larger modules, and changes to bill of materials components like backsheets. It said that lower costs have led to solar becoming a central part of energy infrastructure buildout today, but noted that cost-cutting design and material changes could lead to a lowered degradation rate, which in-turn could cancel out many of the positive results of lower module costs. 555... Sorry, no have! But I know there are many more... for example, if using steps (both inside or outside the house) they must be an odd number (never even). A bit like the odd number of fish in the tank, as above. I'm not sure of the reason(s) why but every Thai builder knows this. And another one, it is considered bad luck and unhealthy to have the head of your bed in the direction that the sun goes down ie. West. It is better to sleep with your head at the North or South direction, or best in the East where the sun rises. Feel free to add your own...
