Because the people of those countries want them to?

His speech told you everything you need to know about him. After refusing to give public statements and hiding in a bunker he gasses peaceful protestors, has rubber bullets shot into the crowd, then gives a speech where he promises to "dominate" the streets. Then he walks to a church for a photo op. This guy is not a leader. He's a wannabe authoritarian.

He hasn't. Blame panicky state governors like New York's Cuomo.
Panicky? There's nearly 29,000 dead bodies in New York, and over 366,000 infected. You could bet that would be many magnitudes higher without the shut downs.

It seemed pretty obvious to me that he was lying when he said it. And given his doctor never said in his statement that Trump took them or he prescribed them explicitly I think that's a pretty clear indication that he was trying to back up Trump without lying himself. Just another tall tale from Trump.

REUTERS out of 75,000 how many actually died from C19 and those died with C19?
You can just look at the number of excess deaths since the start of the pandemic to know that this latest Fox News talking point doesn't hold much water.

A losing battle, if you ask me. It's only a matter of time before China becomes the preeminent force in the world, assuming they don't implode as happened with the USSR, hence the emphasis on social stability overriding all other concerns. These are dangerous times. The question is, can a declining power with unrivalled military might (for now) give up the crown gracefully.
I can't say I agree with this. China will certainly continue to rise. But I can't imagine the world simply going along with their human rights violations. It doesn't help that Trump has made the U.S. a very questionable partner, he's actually aiding China. But people realize what Xi is. Trump will be gone soon enough.

China is a bad player. You won't get an argument from me against that. The problem here is that the tariffs don't hurt China. They hurt Americans. They are paid for by America. And then to save the American industries affected by these self-inflicted wounds we pump billions into them to prop them back up. They are ineffective. Always have been.

How the heck do they get to a 73k death estimate when there's already at 61.7k and still killing 14k a week.

I do think Thailand has handled this relatively well, Anutin aside. That having been said, the real test is going to be when they reopen the country.

Obama was a horrible president, as was W. Bush, as is Trump, as Biden will be.
I would disagree there. In my lifetime (1973) I'd put Obama in the #2-4 range. Reagan at the top, and then Obama/Clinton/H.W. in the next three spots. None of those guys were great presidents, all had their flaws and their upside, but they are head and shoulders above the likes of G.W., Carter, Ford, and Trump is like the fungus on the bottom of their feet.

They aren't the ones taking a 2 hour a day prime time spot and using it as a campaign rally on national TV every night...
According to a Washington Post article from two days ago (source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/13-hours-of-trump-the-president-fills-briefings-with-attacks-and-boasts-but-little-empathy/2020/04/25/7eec5ab0-8590-11ea-a3eb-e9fc93160703_story.html )
Trump had spent 13 hours in those briefings... More than two of those hours were spent attacking others. More than 45 minutes were spent praising himself and his administration... and a mere 4 1/2 minutes spent expressing condolences to corona virus victims... But yeah it's the democrats exploiting the tragedy...- 3

Talk about a straw man... For one, I think most people if they are really sick and in ICU are going to take the doctor's advice on what to do. Here's the problem, very few doctor's would have recommended this drug. That isn't to say they thought it was bad, but it certainly needed testing. What Trump does is dangerous in that he goes out and tells people otherwise based on a hunch... and then he wouldn't even allow Fauci to answer a question about it from the media a couple of weeks ago he butted in. His whole, "what do you have to lose?" While touting this drug repeatedly seemed highly suspicious.
I'm sure everyone would like there to be a valid cure at this point. And there are many candidates for that on the market, all which need testing. The problem here is that all of them need the trials to see if they are safe, and if they have positive results. Trump just picked one drug (which is what makes it so suspicious) and latched onto it as the cure and started suggesting that people should take it. And the even larger problem of this is that the drug he picked can be dangerous.

Unfortunately his minions will either believe or pretend to believe everything he says and tout it as truth. It's what makes him so dangerous. He's clueless about most topics, but still strongly opinionated with an often radical viewpoint on everything.

Trump attacks and attempts to remove all oversight of himself... While openly and actively encouraging investigation to all of his rivals... Which often end in the people appointed to investigate them by his own administration finding no wrongdoing. No matter what you think of Trump and his ideals, everyone should be subject to oversight. His administration should hand over documents when they are requested to provide them. As is Trump has stalled, attacked, fired, and lied when subjected to any type of oversight. And that is not okay. It wouldn't be okay if it were being done on the opposite side either.

According to http://worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/
Yesterday's 684 deaths and 4450 new cases were both the largest seen to date in the UK. The rate of increase is slowing down though.

And another TDS - Trump Derangement Syndrome hater fulfills his day by connecting every possible action or Non action to the U. S. President. As a matter of fact the time line I posted demonstrated that the Trump Administration did take it seriously.
He took it really seriously as he called it the new democrat hoax... As he compared it to the common flu. As he ridiculed the numbers. Said it would go away like a miracle. That they only had 15 cases, soon to be zero cases. Those are all his own words. He was still downplaying it on the same day the NBA cancelled its season. And because he downplayed it, Hannity downplayed it. Most of Fox News, other than Tucker Carlson downplayed it... And then a lot of their viewers and supporters downplayed it. Some of them (cough JDGRUEN) are still doing that today.

But in any event this data starts at 1st March until now. So it is basically taking a snapshot at a time when Covid19 is near peak mortality. Of course the real figures would be over the full 12 months and will look nothing like this.
I don't think Covid19 is anywhere near its peak mortality. It's still on the way up.

Per: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
It's already up to 5112 at the time of writing. It went from 558, to 912, to 1049 deaths per day over the past three days. Those three days basically accounting for half the total deaths in the U.S. to date. We can expect those numbers to skyrocket over the next week. -

Power of exponential growth. btw. Some criticize social distancing states European still getting constant high daily cases, those don't understand cut exponential growth into linear mode alone is no small feat
Exactly. And it's easy for people to try to use numbers at the start of the curve when the number of cases are small and then to try to compare it with something established like the flu. But even with social distancing the comparison is going to look much worse in a week from now than it does now. Etc.

That would actually violate the constitution. It's not possible. Of course I wouldn't put it past him to try. Or to question the results after losing.

@JDGRUEN: On March 9th, the same day that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson tested positive for it, and the same day the NBA suspended their season Trump was still downplaying it and comparing it to the flu. And putting Mike Pence in charge of it was more of a way of removing the responsibility from himself and trying to look like he was doing something than anything else. Pence is not a health care specialist, he has no medical background.
The reality is that Trump's efforts to downplay the virus extended to Fox News, and extended to his base. To the point that they were on social media ridiculing it, and repeating the same claims. It wasn't until it really started hitting the fan and Tucker Carlson of all people started calling out guys like Hannity that they started to take it seriously. That starts at the top. From Trump's need to downplay the virus while now trying to pretend that he always took it seriously.- 4

He's never sniffed 50% approval rating in America pre or post election. He's a low to mid 40s approval pretty much everyplace the whole way through through after winning the election with only 46% of the vote.

The current statistics and evidence suggest people do not fully recover from the virus.
At present the US has 102,000 known cases with only 2,400 fully recoved.
Worldwide the recovery is standing at approx 133, 000
Figures from John Hopkins University
That's an issue of timing. It's important to remember that the vast majority of cases worldwide have happened in the past two weeks. If you believe China's numbers they've had 81k cases and 75k of those have recovered and 3k have died with only 3k active cases.
Biden says military would help oust Trump if he loses election but refuses to leave

I'd guess he's just referring to the known fact that he already tried to cheat with Ukraine to get them to make up a scandal about Biden that didn't exist to help himself. And according to lifelong Republican and former staffer John Bolton that is just the tip of the iceberg that he is aware of multiple other cases where Trump tried to do the same thing with other countries.
Source: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/12/john-bolton-book-trump-315086
So it isn't really a question that Trump will try to cheat. He's been trying already.
