White people are not racists, unlike what you believe
I am a white person. And that statement is ridiculous. The majority of white people are not racists. There are certainly a reasonable number who are though. I have family in five states. And I'd be lying to you if I said that the mid-west family was not racist. They don't consider themselves racist, but they clearly are. I've heard racism in my own family. And I'd guess most of us here have. And I don't even fully blame the people who are racist, if you hold racist views so long as you aren't intentionally doing something to negatively affect other people, I don't care what a person believes. Racism is one of those things that will be solved over generations.
My grandmother once told me that she wasn't racist. She had a black friend who she played bingo with. She would talk to her. She liked her. She just didn't want her sitting next to her, or touching her. That was an obviously racist statement. Each generation it gets better as people become more integrated, and in another hundred years or two we'll all be some shade of tan. But to try to pretend that it doesn't exist is being completely dishonest. I loved my grandma and understand that she grew up in a different time and this was embedded in her as a child. And honestly in most cases that's where the racism begins. People have this embedded in them as children, just like religion and they need to make a conscious and concerted effort to change their beliefs. But pretending that it isn't happening is not the solution. The solution is to demonstrate why it is wrong. And regarding the FBI: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/04/white-supremacists-terror-threat-dhs-409236

If you can watch that debate and still defend Trump you really need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.
He lied from start to finish about everything from his health plan, to taxes, to things others had said (trying to pin the super predator comment on Biden for example). Wouldn't let Biden speak. He kept trying to paint policies that weren't his on him, including continually trying to point to the Green New Deal, and to Medicare for All, neither of which Biden supports. He refused to denounce the Proud Boys and told them to "stand by". He continually attacked Biden's son with what was largely lies, even when Biden was talking about his other son. He brought up a conspiracy theory that his DNI released earlier that day about Hillary Clinton which was Russian propaganda that even the republican senate intelligence committee rejected as propaganda and refused to acknowledge... but they released it anyway hours before the debate so he could say that. A leaked email went out to his entire mailing list that was intended for Jared claiming victory in the debate and saying how the "fake news media" would not acknowledge it, HOURS BEFORE THE ACTUAL DEBATE HAD EVEN HAPPENED!
It was embarrassing. But really it shouldn't be surprising. It's been four years of this.Beyond Trump is also pretty much collapses the narrative that he and Fox have been pushing for months that Biden is a senile old man. He was far sharper than Trump. He knew the facts. I felt like he lost his cool at a couple of points, and the stutter will always be an issue for him but he handled it well given the circumstances.
It's also unfair to blame Wallace's moderating. I don't think there was anything he could have done. I think they need to be able to mute microphones in the upcoming debates. Otherwise they will all turn into this same circus. And that's what Trump wants. He doesn't have actual policy. He has general ideas and he uses the circus to distract from that. Like Hannity cutting to a car chase.- 7

By what stretch of the imagination does a president's debt equate to national security issues? The absurdity does not go unnoticed.
Anyone who has ever held a clearance knows of this. You are warned about it. Any type of substantial debt makes you a security risk because you become a target for others to help you pay those debts.
It's even more significant in the case of a president. He has more than $400m due in the next few years. I'm sure there is a country or two that would be willing to help drive some money his way in order to get what they wanted- 1

The whole point of review sites is to be able to give an honest review good or bad. If people can be sued or jailed for bad reviews then everyplace would have a 5 star rating. Now as for the rest of the story it seems it would be a he said/she said and we can't pretend to know the full details. But if they can jail someone for a negative review then they may as well ban reviews in Thailand.

Trump is doing a tit for tat routine...
What does Hillary have to do with this election? She said on TV that he shouldn't concede the election if he's behind until it goes through the court process. Why? Because they know that Trump is on a war with mail in voting. They know that the election results won't be determined on election night. And we know that Trump is not above claiming victory falsely. So she advised that if there is a close election loss that he allows it to play out rather than conceding.
Even if she had actually suggesting something nefarious though, she has absolutely nothing to do with this election though. Trump is not only a participant, but he is in a position where he can try to influence the election. For example, there is a $300 million ad campaign that his administration is putting out soon which will try to change the perception that Trump has handled the pandemic horribly... $300 million of TAXPAYER MONEY!

You have the mail sorting machines and the mail crisis that was artificially created just before the election. You have Trump trying to undermine confidence in the election. And you have Trump refusing to say that he would accept the results of the election. So her advice wasn't misguided.- 1

Even if they did overturn roe, which they won’t, it would only mean states can regulate abortions. States can still opt to allow them. You act like that's a trival mater. The problem there is that the people seeking them would then have to cross state lines to a state that allowed them. Often the people getting abortions are teenage girls who are trying to avoid people knowing and as we've seen in the past when abortion was illegal they in those situations will turn to shadier means to get it done. Which is unsafe.

Republicans controlled the senate at that point when those statements were made, the same as they do now. Democrats of course controlled the presidency but I'm not sure how that is relevant. This is otherwise the exact same situation as Republicans were in 4 years ago... The only difference is that in that case there was much more time before the election. Yet the reason that was given to note even bring Merrick Garland to a vote was that it was too close to an election. Well if that is the case then certainly 45 days from an election more than qualifies for that same explanation. But suddenly it's a completely different tune. Which pretty much makes all of the above bold-faced liars and hypocrites. There is no other way to see if we are being honest.

Wasn't it under Obama they changed it to a simple majority to appoint a SCJ? If so the chickens are simply coming home to roost. Elections have consequences. God, I adore that line these days.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the ability to break the filibuster for Supreme Court Justices with only a simple majority happened by the republican majority during Merrick Garland's nomination. Democrats did make a similar change before that though (in 2013) lower court and executive branch positions.

When have the democrats done anything on par with what happened with Merrick Garland? Do you honestly believe that if Obama were impeached with the amount of evidence that there was against Trump that the democrats would have almost unanimously voted to keep him in office? Clinton was impeached for far less and 31 house democrats voted to impeach him for it. For that matter when was the last time there was a significant scandal with democrats trying to cheat in an election? Or completely stonewalling subpeaonas and claiming executive priviledge on anywhere near the level Trump has?

9 minutes ago, Tippaporn said:Can't have a 4-4 result if the election is to be decided by the SC.
And what was the excuse four years ago? I say excuse because we all know good and well that is all that it is. But let's ignore the hypocrisy for a second and just focus on why this is wrong. For one the balance isn't 4-4, or are we now counting Justice Roberts as a democrat? But let's ignore that too and focus on what happens if there is a 4-4 tie... In that case the decision of the lower courts is affirmed. So that entire argument is invalid.
With that out of the way let's remind people what the same guys who are now trying to push through a justice in the next month and a half had to say when Merrick Garland was nominated... 8 months before the election!
Corey Gardner: "I think we’re too close to the election. The president who is elected in November should be the one who makes this decision.”
John Corryn: "Confirming a new Supreme Court Justice during a presidential election year for a vacancy arising that same year is not common in our nation’s history; the last time it happened was in 1932. And it has been almost 130 years since a presidential election year nominee was confirmed for a vacancy arising the same year under divided government as we have today."
Ted Cruz: "“It has been 80 years since a Supreme Court vacancy was nominated and confirmed in an election year. There is a long tradition that you don’t do this in an election year.”"Lindsey Graham: "If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump’s term, and the primary process has started, we’ll wait to the next election”
Marco Rubio: “I don’t think we should be moving on a nominee in the last year of this president’s term — I would say that if it was a Republican president .”
Joni Ernst: "“We will see what the people say this fall and our next president, regardless of party, will be making that nomination.”
David Perdue: “The very balance of our nation’s highest court is in serious jeopardy. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I will do everything in my power to encourage the president and Senate leadership not to start this process until we hear from the American people.”Ron Johnson: “I strongly agree that the American people should decide the future direction of the Supreme Court by their votes for president and the majority party in the U.S. Senate.”
Pat Toomey: “The next Court appointment should be made by the newly-elected president.”
Richard Burr: “In this election year, the American people will have an opportunity to have their say in the future direction of our country. For this reason, I believe the vacancy left open by Justice Antonin Scalia should not be filled until there is a new president.”
It wasn't just Mitch... But suddenly in the last four years they have had a complete change of heart. It's hypocritical. It's an embarassment. But given everything we've seen from the GOP over the past four years, it isn't at all surprising.- 4

In 6 1/2 months there have been 200k deaths from Covid in the U.S. It's basically 10x more deadly. That is with the restrictions on Covid. Without restrictions it would be far worse.

What would you call a climate denier who recently said that dry branches on the ground just explode after 18 months, and then shortly thereafter downplayed the scientific view on climate change. Someone who backed out of the Paris Accord inexplicably. Whose bright idea is to bring back coal and deregulate policies aimed to slow climate change (and protect our health).
It's amazing that this is what you can grab at while ignoring Trump's outlandish claims at rallies each night.- 2

You can technically ingest enough of anything to kill yourself but it would take copious amounts. What most would consider a weed overdose is basically just taking a forced nap and waking up with a headache or getting way too high and paranoid and freaking yourself out. Unless you have a conditional like schizophrenia which might be triggered, or you freak out and set yourself into a panic attack it's a safe drug.

What makes this all the more terrible is that knowing this information he had his staff remove the social distancing empty seats at his rallies because they thought it made the crowd look smaller... He brings his supporters in defiant because he has been a poster boy for not wearing a mask, ridiculing his rivals for wearing them, refusing for months to wear one himself... Then he packs them in like sardines. While privately knowing the seriousness he publicly compared it to the flu.
If you have defended his Covid response to date, this has to be jarring news. And if it's not then you need to wake up.

Pretty much every news outlet, including Fox News has confirmed the story. Then Trump goes out yesterday and insults the military brass.
QuoteSpeaking at a combative White House news conference, Trump said leaders at the Pentagon probably weren’t “in love with me” because “they want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy.”
“Some people don’t like to come home, some people like to continue to spend money,” Trump said. “One cold-hearted globalist betrayal after another, that’s what it was.”
Source:
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/07/trump-disparages-pentagon-chiefs-409528
And from the Military Times in January (for those saying why does this come out now)...
Quote“I wouldn’t go to war with you people,” the book quotes Trump as saying to the military officials. “You’re a bunch of dopes and babies.”
And honestly, why would anyone even have a hard time believing this after he said this about John McCain years ago..
Quote“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
Source: https://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/trump-attacks-mccain-i-like-people-who-werent-captured-120317
I really don't see why these comments would surprise anybody. But that won't stop them from finding some way to defend them or to pretend that these statements were out of character for him. These statements are completely in-character for Trump. It's who he is. The better question is how can you support a guy like that?

For fun here's the official count as of a month ago from the WAPO. This is from July 13th.
QuoteIt took President Trump 827 days to top 10,000 false and misleading claims in The Fact Checker’s database, an average of 12 claims a day.
But on July 9, just 440 days later, the president crossed the 20,000 mark — an average of 23 claims a day over a 14-month period, which included the events leading up to Trump’s impeachment trial, the worldwide pandemic that crashed the economy and the eruption of protests over the death of George Floyd in police custody.
You really can not believe anything this guy tells you.

Even the Republican led Senate Intelligence Community confirmed recently that the Trump team sought Russian assistance actively in the last election. But don't take their word for it. How about Jennifer Griffin, who is a Fox News National Security Correspondent...
QuoteRegarding McCain, "The President just hated John McCain. He always asked, 'Why do you see him as a hero?" Two sources confirmed the President did not want flags lowered but others in the White House ordered them at half mast. There was a stand off and then the President relented.
QuoteRegarding Trump's July 4th military parade, during a planning session at the White House after seeing the Bastille Day parade in 2017, the President said regarding the inclusion of "wounded guys" "that's not a good look" "Americans don't like that," source confirms.
QuoteTwo former sr Trump admin officials confirm .
