  1. Hi

I am in similar position to you. Planned to go on the 27th and have flights booked to Udon Thani (from BKK).

If it is impossible to go to Vientiene I will do a border run to Poipet for a 30 days stamp.

Maybe thats an option for you too.

There are 2 or 3 threads about the floods. 1 is in the Issan forum and 1 is in this forum. Also I think 1 in news clippings

Maybe they can give more info. Off there now to check them out!!

With regards to you having 3 tourist visas already, I have read here that there is no limit on number of Tourist visas so you should be ok.

All the best and good luck :o

  2. Hi!

I was wondering if anyone know where or how I can find recipes from the indian restaurant on khao san road named Taste of India. (especially chicken hariyali kabab, butter chicken and nanbread)

    CC

    Ask the waiters and/or chefs.

  3. I'm rethinking this after reading all the posts and if possible would like to stay near but not in downtown BKK. I think the Thailand Cultural center would only be a small improvement. There is still a lot of cars in that area. Any other places somewhat near BTS or MRT but with low traffic?

Maybe check out the areas along the route of the new BTS extensions. Apparently they will open next year :o

Not so much traffic this side of the Chao Praya.

  4. You wont regret it. Amazing.

    3 day pass for $40

If you get the 1 day pass you can enter the day before after, I think, 5pm. i.e turn up at 5pm (maybe a bit earlier - cant remember for sure) to buy a ticket for the next day and you can go straight in after purchasing ticket.

Maybe the same deal is available on all passes.

A little tip to avoid the crowds.

If you go to the Angkor Wat temple for the sunrise (recommended for the classic photo) do not explore the temple complex after seeing the sunrise. Instead, leave and visit the other temples and ruins close by (Bayon etc). You will be able to wander in peace while the sunrise mob explore Angkor Wat (which is HUGE) and long before the tour buses turn up.

    Have a great trip.

  5. Just asked the missus and she says that tommorow the Chinese Gods will come down and gobble it all up...

EDIT: now shes saying that the doors of heaven are open for dead ancestors to come and have a feed.

    Mai khao jai...

  6. Each entry is good for 60 days in the Kingdom. You can extend each entry for another 30 days at immigration within Thailand.

So theoretically.... 60+30+60+30= 180. But you will 'lose' some of these between the date of issue and arriving here.

Make sure you use the entries before the 'use before' date on the visa. 3 months from date of issue.

You must exit Thailand & re-enter after 90 days max.

    Hope that makes sense.

EDIT: Will need a passport photo or two for the application.

  7. I am still very much a beginner too and the general consensus, from people I have spoken to and the members of these forums, seems to be that you should try to get away from the transliteration of the language asap.

Have a look around this forum as there is plenty of advice and handy tips.

Here are a few links to some online resources.

  8. The is a wine shop in Silom Complex shopping centre.

Saladaeng Bts station and enter from ticket hall level. Turn right after you enter Silom Complex and its either straight in front of you on the same level or on the next level UP the escalator.

Sorry, cant quite remember which level as I usually use different entrance.

  9. Once I receive a 3 month tourist visa, how long do I have before I have to use it?

The Visa will have a 'use before' date printed on it.

I think 3 months from date of issue for a single entry.

A tourist visa allows 60 days in the Kingdom and this can be extended for 30 days at immigration within Thailand giving the '3 months' you mention.

    EDIT: Last sentence added.

  10. thanks mate ive emailed asia rooms just waiting for them to get back to me now. i cant find a forum on that 2nd link you posted?

Hello Darren... oops, just re-read my post. What I really meant was the Bangkok forum on this site.

There is a search facility at the bottom left hand side of the page of each forum.

All the best and welcome to thaivisa :o

  11. I recently bought a Diamond ring in Thailand for 28k THB. The ring and diamond in Uk with the same carat weight, color grade and clarity grade would have cost me approx £600. A saving of about 10k THB.

  12. http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/...pisek-area.html

I have never stayed in that area but here is a link to some Hotels. You can probably get a nice discount at most places for the length of stay you mention.

Good luck and have a nice trip :o

EDIT: Just did a bit of digging around and found this for you also. Quite a few threads in the Bangkok forum about apartment rentals.
