Bangkok Thailand = Had a talking knob

Court cases are always decided when that vital witness bursts into the courtroom just in the nick of time.
All Sporting victories occur with the last kick/throw/shot of the game (usually just after a slow motion glance towards the proud coach/mentor)

Hi peeps
I am currently in Thailand on a 60 day single entry tourist visa, which runs out on 21st May, I understand that I can extend this by 30 days, is this correct?, so does this mean I can stay until 20th June?, how much does it cost to extend?
I am currently staying in Pattaya
Will need passport photo
Photocopy of passport & Visa page
1900 baht

I've got one of those kids wall charts with the letter and a picture, so you learn some new words at the same time. I still can't read many words, but I can read number plates!
I buy the Thai Alphabet picture books for kids, where you trace over the letters. Found it very easy to learn the alphabet this way. Just learnt the tone rules which i hadn't bothered dong for 2 years. i would suggest learning the alphabet first as it would have been too much for me personally to learn the alphabet and tone rules together.
definatley worth learning the alphabet. its really fairly easy and I find it a really interesting challenge trying to desipher the written language which is everywhere.
I recently bought a pack of cards with a consonant on each one. One side has letter and picture, the reverse side has 3 or 4 other words (and pics) containing that consonant. Great for improving vocabulary.
The cards are just a little larger than standard playing cards so not too inconvenient to carry around. Gives me something to do when sat in traffic in a taxi.
I bought mine from B2S. Kiddies section. 70thb.

Thanks very much for the replies...
I was a little confused and worried about when the 30 days extension actually commenced and if I could apply ON the 'admitted to' date. In my case the date is the day immigration reopens after songkran. Worries over . Will be going this week, before songkran.
Thanks again.

Hi all... I have looked in forums but cant find the exact answer to my predicament...
My Tourist visa date stamp is 'Admitted until 17 apr 2008'
Can I get the 30 day extension at Suan plu, Bkk, on this date or must I go before this date???
Got my fingers crossed as I have flight out of Thailand 14th May and If I have to extend before Songkran then Its a trip to Laos for me.
Thanks in advance
Very confusing (to me anyway)....I am correct in saying that the 30 day extension is from the date on the stamp and not from the date of visit to immigration??
Cheers

Hello all
My wife has recently moved back to Thailand with our children and I want them to continue learning English.
Until I get over to Thailand myself I want my son to watch English childrens channels and was wondering if it is possible to get cbeebies or similar in Thailand via free to air in the same was as my wife can watch Thai tv in England.
If it is possible anyone know approx how much it would cost to purchase equipment and to set up/install.
Many thanks

Hello Slippery...
I have been trying to do the same myself and have been unble to find a way to do it via the internet. Something to do with licencing
Broadband speeds to international servers from Thailand are pretty slow most of the time so would probably make it unwatchable in anycase.
I am not sure about any satellite TV services that can provide UK television. The only thing I can suggest is that if you have a DVD recorder make some Discs of your Childrens favourites and send them by post. Not ideal I know.
All the best

I am looking for a DVD recorder that can also play (multi region discs) to replace my existing DVD player.
All I want is something that can record onto blank discs. No Hi-tech needed just the programme in O.K. quality is good enough for me. I won't be watching (them) twice. Just like in the old days when I used a VHS video to record the odd programme.
Suggestions? And thanks............
Hello...
Maybe think about getting DVD player with a built in hard drive. No need to buy blank discs.
All the best

I used it a lot last year. 2p a minute to Thai mobile from Uk landline. Not sure about cost from Mobile to Mobile.
No need for an account. Just dial 0844 ??????? access number then wait for cheesy message and dial thai number.

You have to get out and pick it up from one of the places where it is made available, and you have to get there early before all copies are gone.

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a Cinema in Bangkok that shows Thai films with English subtitles.
I am not interested in Gold/VIP service. Just a reasonably cheap (200 baht max??) and comfortable cinema surrounded by people who are actually there to watch the movie!!!
Cheers
