To help answer some questions put here:
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/825781-more-officials-suspected-of-corruption-to-be-suspended/
Earlier, Prayut used his powers under Article 44 to suspend 45 civil servants being investigated for corruption. Their respective ministries have been told to complete their investigations as quickly as possible and if found guilty those civil servants must be punished.
The source said the civil servants were also facing criminal offences and were being examined by other anti-fraud agencies such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Auditor-General, who were going ahead with their investigations.
The source said some of the civil servants had been found guilty but were yet to be punished, although under Article 44 their respective ministries must punish them. -
oops...forget the West coast. Many tour companies shut down till November or so. Even around Phi Phi/Krabi, seas can be really rough and trips canceled.
No, don't forget about the west coast, the diving is here year round much better than in the Gulf of Thailand. Diving is done year round, in the busier areas don't companies don't shut down.
See here http://www.phuket-scuba.com/diving-weather-september.htm an overview of the weather and diving in September for the last years, just on a few days limitations in divesites.
Good point on the West coast. I do believe liveaboards to the Similans and surrounds do not operate from around the end of April till October or so?????

That place looks great. But not cheap. Up to 50k if you want Western food. I'd hate to think what the charge would be for a full time caregiver.
But very nice looking facility!

Koh Tao is pretty good, and has some action they'll enjoy. The best is the Similan or Andaman island. Live aboard only. But it's amazing.

These directions are coming from my wife. So could be anywhere between 200 and 700M! LOL
I'm trying to contact our neighbors for a better description. But it is an old looking Thai style "resort" structure.
Let us know if you find it and how you like it!
-
The list was released in the Royal Gazette yesterday. Some of the names and their positions are listed in an article on the Bangkok Post. Please, no links here.

Sorry I can't give better directions, but our neighbors have used a place in Ban Amphur for a bunch of stuff and they are very happy. It's on Suk, left side as you are headed to Pattaya. Looks like an old Thai house, almost a resort. Once you go inside, there's a bunch of furniture.
The best I can say is about 500M past the post office. I'll try to get some better info....

A few posts discussing a delicate subject have been removed from view. Hope you understand.

Be careful with some of the cheap instruments made here. They don't stay in tune, are hard to play and some don't sound great. My friend bought a cheap banjo. Impossible to get it in tune and the action was so high you could fly a helicopter in there! When playing it, you could almost see the tuner knobs moving. They just didn't hold.

If you look down that soi, to the North, you can't miss the sign. It will be on the right as you enter the soi.

The Weekly Special Travel Fair 2015 starts to offer tour packages at big discounts at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. (Photo by Pawat Laopaisarntaksin)
Hundreds of operators are offering half-price tour packages at the Weekday Special Travel Fair organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok.
More than 400 hotels, travel agents and airlines are offering 50% discounts to mid-week vacationers to help fill empty rooms and seats during the low season, Anupharp Thirarath, deputy TAT governor for domestic marketing, said on Thursday, when the four-day fair began.

I had lunch at Tiggle Bitties this week. The ruben was very good. Seemed to have a pretty good menu. It's on Soi 17 between 3rd road and Thepprasit.
I also like Caddy Shack for their fish and chips. And it has aircon!

When I first came to Thailand, I was sick and visiting a small clinic on Phi Phi for treatment. As I was sitting in the waiting room, I could hear bloodcurdling screams coming from inside the treatment room. I was thinking to myself, what am I doing here! I almost left, but stayed.
Come to find out, it was a backpacker who had his rib dislocated from a traditional Thai massage. I've never had once since that experience.

Ummm....understood. Been to Malaysia several times. Along with many other Muslim countries.
Who's throwing stones? Other than those who want human trafficking stopped? And to arrest those who profit from this horrible activity.

Oh my gosh. 45,000 Rohingyas refugees in Malaysia? Wow....

Scandinavian tourists cancel trips to Krabi
Many Scandinavians have cancelled their trips to Krabi after their friends who have visited the southern seaside province have encountered polluted sea and garbage stench, Wiyada Srirangkul, chief of the Krabi office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said Tuesday.
She said the Scandinavian tourists have complained about polluted sea and garbage problem at the TAT office in Stockholm.
The tourists complained that wasted waters polluted the sea and they were too scared to swim in Krabi sea.

Enough with the personal attacks, please.

Too bad about Scandinavia. I just got a flight back from Stockholm for under $350. Includes pre-assigned seat, checked bag and meal!
Here's an interesting site. You can put in a region with flexible dates and it helps find good fares:
Google flights is interesting also:
https://www.google.com/flights/
Kayak has a feature where you can specify some destinations and it will email you with updates to the prices. Other sites do this also.

Something doesn't make sense. If coming from Samet, I'm not sure I'd use 36 for their destination. And definitely wouldn't be near Pong. Anyway, 36 is a very straight highway. Probably going too fast, trying to pass, etc. Just lost control. It's very crowded with lots of crazy drivers. I hate that highway.

You might try this guy:

He's got a Filipina girl friend and I've talked with him about having her find an English speaking caregiver for my mother. He's also involved with one of the expat groups here. Great guy. lives in Pattaya. Worth a shot!
