  1. The new ruling proves that Thailand is still third world because few country's would impose legislation that would harm itself and this proves that the country is not ready for first world status.

Anybody who tells you otherwise including Thaksin is lying to you.

PS I hope my post is'nt moderated again, this is no longer a free speech forum which is a great shame.

  2. >Any alien that has the work permit must transfer his knowledge about technology to >two Thais within the period the Thai government has set up. The expat must be an >expert in a specific project.

What is the legal definition of transferral of knowledge ?

Invest in China, not Thailand, the message is becoming very clear because if a country can change laws so flippantly as they appear to do, then this does'nt inspire investor confidence.

Thailand = not a serious country for business, but very good for holidays

    China = good for business

I realise this message forum is pushed to sell Thailand, but it's becoming less attractive of a place. Why don't we have a forum for other Asian countries.

    Have a nice day.

  3. So i've been to Thailand twice now and never had any travel vaccinations.

However having been quite ill in Singapore recently, I can see the wisdom of playing it safe.

So what travel jabs are recommended ?

Should I take anti-malaria pills too ? Which brand are any good ?

Thanks for the advice and I look forward to your suggestions.

  4. >Although Thailand is well-known for its racy nightlife, it is a predominantly >Buddhist, conservative country, where displays of public affection, including >kissing in public, are rare.

    >Still, social mores among the younger generation, influenced by western culture >in recent decades, are quickly changing.

The director is a <deleted> who does'nt understand Buddhism.

Also sex is not a problem. He should be fired immediately !!!

  5. It's ashame that societies attitude towards sex has changed little, which comes from the old days where anything that made you feel good was seen as bad. Remember that these so called Saints from the Western religions used to torture themselves. Some even cut off their own testicles ! The footprint on society remains.

Sexual freedom is also symbolic of spiritual freedom and it's nice to see a Buddhist country where there is less repression as this highlights an important point, but there is still a long way to go. I think that Thailand being a poor third world country, regardless of them changing their status, also plays a large part in this. Westerners have an opportunity and few opportunity's in life are left for very long.

Many people still feel embarassed in talking about sex, so no wonder people feel they have to travel to the other side of the world in secret to relieve themselves. Because it's really just relief with a prostitute and not loving sex for most people.

My personal view that this is just a service, like any other. Some people work with dangerous chemicals and get paid a lot for it. Some people work in the sex industry. Both are a risk and imho both should be considered short term work. What worry's me is when people get hooked on a particular service, whatever it may be, then there is going to be a problem. There is also the pimp Daddy aspect where girls are enslaved to someone to work in the sex industry and these are different issues.

  6. "ENFORCEMENT OF THE 90 DAYS REPORTING REQUIREMENT

The Immigration Bureau and the Royal Thai Police are now enforcing the requirement of expatriates to report their place of residence in writing to an immigration Office every 90 days in accordance with Section

So if your an expatriate working in Thailand, every 3 months you have to re-report your home address in Thailand. That's a lot of bloody hassle and paperwork.

Why do they ask respectable expats for this crap ? Why does'nt anyone tell them how ridiculous it is ?

Is there any valid reason for the Thai government to be this bullish ?

  7. Hi there,

So SIngapore is relatively close to Thailand and I think it's about time I gave it a visit within the next 2 months !

The problem is that i'm told it's the rainy season at the moment, what does that mean ? A slight downpair once a week, or every day torrential flooding ?

Is it holiday weather, or would I be trapped in my hotel all week ?

    Many thanks

  8. I am looking for some high quality 1024 x 768 pictures of Thailand for my PC wallpaper aka background to inspire me !

Where is a good place to find these ? I keep on finding either pictures that you have to purchase or they are in 800 x 600 which means the picture stretches and they look ugly.

    Kind Regards,

    Thanks,

  9. >i hav a really killer resume...since - i have got 2 offers already in bkk just by

    >randomly sending my resume to people thru various job sites like jobsdb.com etc....

I'd like to know more about the response you got. Did they say they would fly you over for an interview, i'd be surprised if so.

2 job offers, or 2 offers for an interview ? Did you interview in person ?

    Good luck.

  10. So you get to know a great Thai woman on holiday and have lots of fun. You know how things tend to work here, but keep it at the back of your mind, afterall your here to relax and have fun.

The email trading starts, back and forth and then one day you receive an email asking for money because she wants to start a business but won't tell any more you because it's a surprise.

You get angry, send a reply back telling her how annoyed you are, and that your not a bank and that you thought she was special, different.

She sends another reply, and denies that she ever sent the email asking for money and that someone must of used her email account. Asking for money deceitfully is bad enough, but lying is the last straw.

Typical scenario, be aware of it, it can happen to anyone !! Just let go.

    It's Thailand afterall, lol.

  11. Guys, have some compassion. I feel sorry for Marc (if this is a sincere message).

Friend, I felt like this my first trip, and the feeling does fade.

You need to explore your inner feelings about your daily life, about

yourself and find out what's not working, before you goto a new country

and look for some inner happiness. If you don't do this, you'll eventually

throw yourself out of a Pattay hotel balcony, which happens quite a lot.

Fix your life and then move to Thailand, this is important. Moving to a new

country is not a life fix. I used to think it was, but it's a fallacy.

This is perhaps the most important advice I can post here for potential

expats. I'll say it again, fix how you feel about yourself and then move

    to a new country.

Tell us some more about your background, where do you live, what

age are you, nationality ? etc.

Do you want to go back for a specific person, for sex, or for

society or for other reasons. Try to reationalise it a little.

The feeling was good, but why ? ok and then take it from there.

There are others here who have felt like this, feel free to message

me privately if you want some help.

    Regards
