I'm going to Vientiane next week, will they give me a double entry tourist? Free?
-
Sounds good, now if I want to be let's say #1-10 in the queueu, at what time should I get there?
6:00 am, 7am? 5am?
Thanks

Got it on time, all was fine, only my condo recetion was 10 days late to tell me they had received it....TIT!

I need to do a visa at just abou the worst time of the year...beginning of december, on December 5th actually.
Accordign to the website, hollidays are, 5th, 10th, and 31st.
http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/en/embassy/calendar.php?month=11&year=2018&PAGEN_1=3
I was thinking of landing on the 6th and pickup visa on 7th, there will be a gazillion people there...and I'm worried I won't be able to get in...
Then if I miss that chance, there is also a holliday on Monday, so could be stuck in Laos for days...
Any feeback on this, do they turn people away if too busy, even if you make it to embassy before 12:00 noon?
-
The passport was fine, but the idiot at immigration didn't listen to me, probably deliberately, and to be an <deleted>, and he put a stamp smack in the middle of my last extra page , ruining a whole page..this is what got me in this predicament...

But application for an extension would require having a passport. You should be prepared to pay overstay if passports are not returned in time. Do not believe 'this is Thailand' will make passport application longer than normal so you are probably OK.
Canadian embassy says 20 business days, I'm sending application on Monday , visa expires October 7th, so I have a few extra days...!
-
Old passport doesn't have enough pages to do a visa run, and embassy is keeping it, I'm sending it via EMS to them.
For the 7 days extension, they would give it to me even though I'm already on a 30 day extension from my tourist visa?
What I mean is that the 60 days is over, and now on the 30 days extra
-
I'm applying for a new passport, out of pages.
Now there is plenty of time left, but this is THailand...
So what happens if it takes longer than expected and my passport isn't ready before my visa expires..
Do I need to pay overstay? Or can I get an extension at immigration in Jomptien?
I'm on a 30 days extension now...!

The private post places in the malls are open all day, they can probably get something sent today.
Great, so even if I go tomorrow, should be able to get 24 delivery to BKK?
With Soi 13 post office that's 37 baht, how much is it with the private shops?
Sending old passport to embassy to get a new one
-
Thanks, seems I won't make it...
Can I go to private EMS post office at Big C or somewhere?
I want the letter to get to Canadian embassy in BKK by monday...I may even have to post it tomorrow!

The only info I could find was from a post in 2008...
So looking for info for today!

yes indeed, the stamp is not red, it's actually blue.
It says:
"Remark: the holder of this passport travels to Thailand under a a tourist visa several times which may result in the refusal of a visa in the future"
So with my new passport I'll be good to go at the EXACT same embassy that gave me the stamp the last time? (vientiane Laos)
-
I got the dreaded red stamp from Vientiane...I'm from Canada.
So now getting a new passport, I need one anyways, only 1 page left in it.
The questions is, will the visa still show up in the new passport?
Will they send back the old passport with a page left in it and I have to use it before using the new one?

You could open a foreign currency deposit account so you only have to worry about exchange rates when you withdraw funds and change it to baht.
Info here for an account at Bangkok Bank.
Great idea, I'm Siam and Kasikorn, I'll go talk to them about it

Yes, could move enough for that, but will it be safe from Thai baht fluctuations or is there an imminent devaluation or crash ahead?
-
If I keep all my money in Thai banks and Thai baht,( this is my plan for the next 2-3 years or so), would it be a safe bet?
They say the Thai baht is too strong now, might it crash to nothing within the next few years?
I could keep the money in dollars in Canadian bank, but tired of transfer fees all the time...

That’s not entirely true. There is no published set limit, but IO’s have the power to deny entry based on any number of entries.
I would to a ‘visa run’ for a new 30 day visa exempt entry, and apply for a new passport asap once back in Thailand. You then shouldn’t have a problem getting a new Tourist Visa from Vientiane with the new passport.
You mean Vientiane don't have me in the computer, wouldn't it safer to do Savanahket?

For the record how many visas did you have in your passport? You got the visa at least so there's another 3 months to make the next move. Good luck.
Been here for 15 years, lots of passports! But in 9 months I'll be 50...so can get retirement, first time in my life I'll be happy to get older!

My passport has one page left, so need a new one anyways, I don't even have enough pages to even attempt another visa run in Laos...
I like to do visa runs in Vientiane. Should I do a Cambodia first with old passport , and then do a Vientiane run after that with a brand new passport,(I have one Cambodia left for the year)?
If they don't give me a visa for some reason...and I ran out of border visa runs by land (2 a year, I have one left though), could I still come back by air, maybe take a plane from Laos to BKK?
I have 2 cats and I really want to avoid being locked out of Thailand....
I read there is no limit to visa on arrival by air? So in theory, 2 Cambodia's by land and one by air from Laos to BKK airport could work if Embassy turns me down again (even with fresh new passport...) ?
Just being paranoid here as usual!

I like to run everyday, about 10 km, I run on the beach sidewalk and the streets, kind of hard surfaces.
Are there any running trails around?
Would rather run in nature also!

I need it for ear problems, can't handle loud noise environments, might need to calibrate it , but that's another story!

I posted before, but my post wasn't very good...and I need and answer pretty much immediately...so here it goes again!
I'm leaving Pattaya at 15:30 PM for a border stamp run, not a visa run. 30 days on arrival.
Border is:
- Ban Packard/Pailin/ Pon Nam Bong (not sure what it's called exactly!)
So I have 3 questions:
- What are the hours of operation on BOTH sides, I want to come back the same day.
- I've heard that they might try to force you to stay overnight...but I'm coming by taxi, so NEED to come back same day, is it true that simply paying 300 baht is fine to come back in same day?
- Before I went there, and an agency was offering to do documents and paperwork, will they be there in the evening?
Thank you for all other answers on my other post, but I think this post is a lot clearer and to the point;)

But it would be at least 8pm right? And I can go in and out the same day right then and there?
I don't want to spend a night in Cambodia...
The border is the one near the south, not sure :
Pong Nam Bong it says on the stamp, issuing post Prum it says on the visa
That post from 2013...!
Do I need to carry 20 000 baht with me on the way into Thailand from Vientiane?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
A while back, I heard they asked you to carry 20 000 on you when you come into Thailand.
I'll have in possession of a tourist visa from Vientiane.
I don't really feel like carrying that kind of money on me for the whole trip...
Will they ask for it?
Also, if they do, are there any ATM's close at hand on the border to Nongkhai? So if they ask I simply go get the cash from ATM (I have a Siam Commercial bank account)
