  1. Safety is hardly anything important in Thailand when it comes to money...

I see over and over again in so many Condos, Apartments and Office lifts, including where I live and where I work, after the Maintenance expire date is passed, they just remove the document from the lift until 6 months to 1 year later they come for maintenance.

    incredible thailand...

    +1

Seen many lifts in condos which maintenance expire date has passed. When point it out, only response u get is...No problem! No problem!

  2. Seems a bit strange, every spot of the airport is covered by surveillance cameras, what prevent

the authorities from checking to see what really happened there??? just common sense...

Maybe the cameras are not working.

See that often in the news when they try to identify someone, either the camera was not working, under maintenance or just a fake.

  3. Where was Pattaya/Jomptien ???? pristine white sand clear turquoise waters, and not a smell or any floating debris, and all the beach raked and trash in the bin everyday.

This is why Pattaya is so popular, or is there other evening attractions ???

Since patong is on the list Pattaya can't be far behind

  4. Easy out for the cop. The police will negotiate a large cut of the 400k and get the French guy to drop the charge for the police to turn the eye away on the drug involvement. They will scare the frenchy and say they will charge him re the drug involvement. You agree Guys

Why not check on the French ?  How can he own and sell land ?  Paying 2.000 THB to a person who helped to sell 2 mio. worth land is really miserly, really cheap. He might be sorry already to have involved the police. Not much sympathy for him. Wouldn't be surprised if he is in the drug business as well.

Agree that the French paying 2k are really cheap. BUT he sold the land for 2 m and now they ask for 3m?????

  5. It's good to remember that there has been quite a large changes already. I haven't been to the airport and can not confirm that the black taxis are not allowed to the airport anymore. Have anybody been there lately?

The meter taxi fares are rising or have already riced. Those are some ways to lure black taxis to become legal meter taxis.

The fares have already been raised, that is probably the only thing these idiots can agree about.

  6. And how can you or I get 90,000 Baht in a day doing withdrawls from ABM machines. Something is not right here. My limit in most machines seems to be 20,000 Baht as posted previously, although my daily withdrawal limit is actually more than that.

Well, u can actually use your card more than once a day. As u said your limit is more than 20k.. Just do like 4 - 5 withdrawals. And with some ATM u can get 30k at a time.

  7. The biggest one I can think of was Carrefour in Jungceylon. I used to shop there. It was always reasonably busy.

I don't think it failed, but it must have been losing money, or had very high expensies.

They not only pulled out of Phuket, but I think out of Thailand in general.

Big c took over all carrefour in thailand

  8. The Andaman Hospital at the southern end of Patong. It was only open for a month.

The building lay empty for ages until some bright spark turned it into a Haunted House. That closed very quickly and is now a rather strange looking Italian restaurant (De Marios?).

Never knew there was a hospital there before. There was a mini golf somewhere along that road, can't remember exactly where but it disappeared many years ago.

  9. The wet t-shirt contests in the afternoon at Valhalla were good fun. I remember several years ago a company in Central taking deposits for a condo with waterpark situated inside Poonpol Plaza. A young Thai guy in a flash suit looked like he was one of the owners. Went on for quite a few months with plenty of advertising in the local rags but I don't think they ever broke ground. No doubt a few real estate stories similar to this.

Always had a good time at Valhalla. I also remember seeing sales brochures for the condo at poonpol, did they ever start building anything?
