I don't think you would get it for 2000 baht these days - fresh off the plane. How long ago were you quoted this price? The Taxi-Meter company price for a pre-booked taxi from the airport to Krabi Town or Ao Nang is 2,000 baht.
But if your hotel will do it for 2,500 baht, that sounds like a reasonable offer.

I just paid 900 to patong. I don't think they would drive all the way to krabi for only 2000.
Was that a metered taxi?
Yes.

Small fee not worth mentioning, and my debit card works like a champ, Each and every time. The small charge is worth my convenience. Consider it gas money to drive down and buy a ticket. Yes, an agent wants a profit on top of the sale...thats how it is supposed to work. In Chiang Mai, the Air Asia Office by the Tapae Gate charged only 100 baht over the price online. Now I just print my boarding pass, bypass the gaggly-fck passengers loaded down with suitcases and golf carts, and go right to security
I never had a problem using a credit card. But they do charge you a fee for using the card.I agree with the just press cancel for the insurance post, but also the change in flight times without updating their website. They don't accept domestic credit/debit cards whereas the rest of the world does, so took myself along to my nearest agent to find the fare had magically increased by 1700 baht. I've heard you can pay at 7/11's. How? Can't see that option on their page.
Okay, again. Air.Asia.Will.NOT.Accept.A.THAI.Debit.Card. Got it? Good. <deleted>
You said in your post "credit/debit card" and Airasia do accept Thai credit cards. Got it?

I've experienced many problems on the iPad app in recent weeks, the app won't open and most recently I believe many posters were experiencing multiple posts for some reason.
Seems to have calmed down again now though.

Most stay along the river, Khao San Area, Silom, upper Suhkumvit, MBK area, Pratunam, etc
Silom is on the same lines of Nana and Asoke. Touts and hookers and people annoying you everywhere. Kowsan isn't much different either.
Most of the main tourist areas are hell holes.
I think you try to describe your view of bkk, MOST tourist do not stay around Nana. Lots of tourists stay at the hotels along the river and i dont think they will ever experience nana or the likes you describe unless they look for it. Backpackers stays around kao san and also very unlikely they will ever visit nana or sukhimvit. If you come here as a tourist there is so many things to do in bkk so thinking that everyone gonna end up in nana or silom is a bit narrow minded.

Actually , should be in Bangkok as Bangkok is Book capital of the world .
Might be the same ship that was in Bkk a few months ago. If I remember correctly it was at Klong toei pier.

I mean Pattaya. What are you going to do? Take mom and pop to the grotty beach. Eat some crap from the street stalls. Explain to them why 70 year old men are walking around with 25 year old, women (or ladyboys) take a quick trip over to Jomtiem by baht bus to look at the poofs jogging along the beach. Maybe the crocodile farm in the afternoon. Then check out the short time scene in soi 6 and have a few sang som sets, then off to airport bar for the soapy lesbian show with a few Chang beers. Then off to insomnia for a bit of a 6am finish?
Do you mean Pattaya or just walking street? There actually is more to Pattaya than just walking street. if that worries you, would you prefer to take your parents to Bangla road instead?I love Pattaya. But ask yourself this. would you feel comfortable taking your parents there?
Dont get me wrong I love Pattaya but I think most mature couples would find it a bit much. Especially elderly women. Maybe pop might like it
Seems like you have worked out the travel itinerary already

I saw they had a sign in the window offering 4.15% but I think it was 36m?
I have no experience with this bank but at the moment many banks has similar offers as OP mentioned.

This is not true I had an account with Bangkok bank that I used to purchase products to export with a 50k daily limit and could draw 50 k in one transaction however I should add this bwas several years ago. There are limits stated by your bank. 20.000 bath for each withdrawel, usually 50.000 a day for thai ATM cards. Can be changed by yourself to 200.000 if wanted.I think you will find that the limitation is within the ATM itself and is twenty notes per transaction.
So if it's loaded with 1,000 Baht notes x20 = 20,000 Baht.
...but if it's near empty and only has 100 Baht notes x20 = 2,000 Baht (but you still play the 150 Baht fee for overseas cards or 20 Baht for non "home" ATMs for your own Thai Bank etc)
Didn't know Bangkok bank had 50k transaction limit, max I have seen was 30k.
My cards have a 50k limit (which makes little difference has would have to use the machine 3 times to get it). My wife's card also - all Bangkok Bank. Might have changed as these accounts are at least 5 years old at the newest and the other older still.
I know you can change the daily limit. The earlier post said that he could withdraw 50k in ONE transaction, and that if true was news to me.

100 million Baht whisked away in the flash of a eye after the police, 'concluded that Warissanon's wife Sakulrat Suwansukkho, 32, had fled with the rest of the cash'.
Truly amazing presence of mind and meticulous coordination by the distraught wife and her friends to get this huge amount of money into 6 bags/ backpacks like that and drive off into the distance.
And while we are at it, how did Thailand's finest work out that particular sum so quickly and so accurately? To be fair, maybe the wounded suspect gave them that figure, but...
I hope the child has a decent chance in life.
Questions, questions and more questions.
They just got the article a bit mixed up. Should read, police ran away with the 100 mil but left 2.3 behind to make it look good.

Samui is still a very nice island, although I have never lived there I holiday there many times. The reason I would not consider Samui a place to live is that it's inconvenient to travel to and from. If you don't want to spend many hours with boat and bus the only option is Bangkok air which is very expensive. Also something to consider if you have to do frequent visa runs.

Just find it hard to believe this article is accurate.
"Top international poker players from the poker world tournament scene"
"Fresh from the Vegas tables"
"We'll know in the poker scene around the world with consistent high stakes and winnings" If those statements were True I can't see why they would be even remotely interested to play in an illegal casino in Pattaya with only $5000 on the table. Iam also curious about the 72pages bank book. -
You could also watch exciting Thai series on television, with or without girlfriend pinching your armYou think it's difficult to take public transport to random places, explore, take photos and get drunk in Bangkok? Bangkok is designed for this shit. There's even parks to read books in.
There's so much to do in Bangkok probably too much.
Eat out, party, go to museums, day at the races, muay thai show, learn muay thai, comedy shows, movies, go on street food adventures and eat tons of nice food, get off at random BTS or MRT stops and see what you can find, day or weekend trips to Ayyuathaya, Kanchanaburi or Hui Hin (or many other places), visit the temples, ride the khlongs and get lost, JJ market....the list is endless.
Just go do something.
LOL

Yep we all do it. But the BIB are exempt from prosecution. As is anyone else with a uniform or politicians. Farangs are open game. Pardon the pun.Just some friends playing poker me thinks. The amazing journalistic work changes a friendly game HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT HOW AMAZING WE ARE! "ILLEGAL FARANG CASINO BUSTED!" They had starving naked Cambodians tied to the table. Come on seriously? Thai people do this everywhere. Police do it. Get a life and go after the pedo's in Pattaya.
Total rubbish.
We all do it you say, and you`re speaking on behalf of who?
We don`t all break the laws in Thailand.
When people stay or live in a country, than they must respect the laws of that country, whether they agree with them or not.
The farangs involved with running this racket are in it as an earner. They have no respect for the country or it`s laws. Hopefully they will receive the highest penalties, then deported and permanently blacklisted.
Just a bunch of scum in my opinion.
A bit harsh to call them scum and wish them "the highest penalties, then deported and permanently blacklisted."
Think its more like a couple of guys that got together for a home game than someone running a casino.
Do u wish the same penalties for people breaking the law by driving without a helmet?

So lets say this 200k covers the flight tickets for a couple of BiB a night stay in a hotel and a few bottles of whiskey. Then what? Case closed?

Why not ask Chalerm? I am sure he knows who they are and he will have them all arrested within 30 days.

I think this Is standard practice and i fail to understand your rant. You failed to provide a valid credit card for auto renewal and u also said you forgot to check your email which I am sure had a few payment reminders. If you pay within the 30 days stated they will restore your website.

If you are a beach person and enjoy water sports Phuket would definitely be the winner. But if you just want to go beach once in a while its easy to catch a boat to koh Lan and enjoy some decent beaches. For other things like shopping, food, entertainment etc both places has it all. Pattaya has the advantages of a functional transport network which makes it very convenient. Also, IMO the locals involved in the tourist industry are much friendlier than in Phuket.

Hope they will be locked away for life and pay back with interest. Only with serious penalties it may stop these criminals.
And why is that.
The victims who lost money are insured, so they get their money back from the credit card company.
The money the banks steal from every one, you never get back.
Seams not to be true if you are with a Thai bank.

I think it was a working meter and that this is the new rate. I know of two others who have paid about same as me for the meter taxi.
