Thai Airways Q1 Profits Soar by 306% as Exit from Rehabilitation Nears
I wonder if Thai Airways staff will be rewarded with a bonus? Singapore Airlines staff bonus for 2025 is 8 months salary and in 2024 it was 6.65 months salary.

So the 'White Lotus" affect on Koh Samui room rates may be a one-off. Thank Trump for that!

Global YouTuber IShowSpeed Crashes Tuk-Tuk into Temple Wall, During Livestream
Creating content and recieving money for it. Would Thailand view that as work and therefore taxable and requires a work permit? We can all but hope!

PM sets date for registration of 10,000 baht digital wallet
Will vendors have to pay VAT as the increase in sales may take many over the VAT threshold? Why would sellers currently under the tax radar join the scheme if they then get a large tax bill as a thank-you?

PerfectPlayer TV (used to be PulseTV)
Yes. BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All4 and My5 (UK) are all suffering from the broken cables. I use Getflix not Perfect Player. The cables to Australia (Ch7/Ch9/Ch10) and New Zealand seem to be fine using Getflix. TVNZ has the catchup Euro 2024 football in good quality.

How to watch the Euros next day
If your experiencing buffering recently with iPlayer, All4 etc. (Broken Internet cables/Houtis?) I've found TVNZ (English commentary/free to register) with my VPN is working at a much better quality stream than the UK at the moment.

Thai Consulate Savannakhet Policy Change
I was there last Thursday 23rd May. It was crazy busy. I arrived at 8.55am to a huge snaking queue. I was finally seen at 4.55pm and processed by grumpy overworked staff and thankfully given a passport collection ticket number 491 for the next day, Friday. There were at least another 60+ people behind me in the queue. (There were big concerns that with the number of applicants it may be after the weekend before they could process our passports.) They had to abandon the 2 hour window to apply (9am-11am). It rained all day long. Wet travel bags and a sea of umbrellas. The majority of the queue were Myanmar people escaping from their country via the education visa route. At Thai Immigration, on my return, the next day they had a holding area set up for the "Students". Non-o's were waved up the steps and given a scaled down information form to fill in(Myanmar people were given the full usual form to fill in). No bag checks done to Non-O's to speed up the process. Talking to many of the Myanmar people in the queue it was obvious that these were the highly educated ones. Many had studied overseas to a high level and the level of English was very good. I asked one how had he been allowed out of their country now that I thought there was conscription there. He said he left through the main airport. He said he was lucky. I didn't delve any deeper as to how. A Myanmar humanitarian crisis is happening and Thailand seems to be trying to help as best it can. I applaud the Thai consulate staff for doing their best on a very stressful day.

Chinese firms eye EV supply chain in Thailand’s Smart Park
"The Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Park has been developed by Rayong Industrial Zone Development Co., in which Holley Group (China) holds controlling shares. The park is located in Amata Industrial City, Thailand." http://www.mofcom.gov.cn/article/beltandroad/th/enindex.shtml Perhaps it was this park I read about last year. My point is still, how can Thailand give away control of its industrial parks. Surely foreigners should only be allowed the minority holding?

Chinese firms eye EV supply chain in Thailand’s Smart Park
Is this the industrial park that is owned by the Chinese Govt (CCCP) I read about last year? Chinese companies renting from a Chinese landlord. How could the Thai Govt. allow this to happen?

British and Norwegian nationals arrested for illegal employment
I'm scared to wash my car. If I get my 14 year old son to do it I might get arrested for abuse of child labour? My plan is therefore to get my Thai wife involved in the task but I'll have to first invest in some of those noise cancelling headphones and strap in for the anticipated vocal tornado.

Questions remain over viability of multi-billion-dollar land bridge project
The Suez canal is 193 kms long. The Thailand LandBridge project is about 100 kms long. With the unloading and reloading of containers at two different locations I'm not seeing the benfits of a landbridge over a canal. Is the terrain the problem?

Thailand Set to Welcome Nine New Airlines in 2024
.......and the promised 600 baht daily wage is actually a 2 baht a day increase. Perhaps employers should consider dishing the increase out as 8 x 25 satang coins rather than a single coin, at least it will jiggle in your pocket. The redness in the locals' faces is not from lao khao but from being smacked by their once beloved party.

Cabinet agrees minimum wage increases
Which equates to a 0.61% increase. Which makes the Govt. officials +32 times more important! The PM seems to have been castrated this week. He has lost the balls he had last time he commented on this issue. Don't trust a man with odd socks.
