The LETTER from the US Embassy - American Citizens Services now has your Full Name, Passport Number & Birthdate. However this LETTER is useless you are here in Thailand on a Tourist Visa or Exemption Entry or an Extension thereof. The phraseology used only references Tourist or Exemption stay. This LETTER will not allow an Extension for an Expat here on a Non Imm. Multi-Entry B or O Visa otherwise needing a Border Bounce to get another 90 days. Sampling posts from many online venues shows I/Os will deny an Extension for American Non Imms every time. If there is an exception I could not find it.
Thanks, you explained well.

Is this letter for people visiting or expats living here?

Looks like the EVA flights listed above in the U.S. chart are now a NO GO, at least thru the first week of April, as EVA has now banned international transit flights thru Taiwan during that period. And all EVA flights from BKK to the US transit thru Taiwan.
But their online system at present does still show flights AFTER the first week in April... but that's assuming they don't extend the current moratorium once the current one is expiring.
I'm due to leave on EVA on May 1st. I keep hoping that they will eventually waive the cancellation / ticket change fee. I keep checking. No matter, I won't be going.

I'm from the U.S. and my wife and I were going for a visit on May 1st. We're now not going but want to reschedule for the fall hoping this virus quiets down. I'm waiting to see if EVA is going to waive their change/cancellation fees. So far nothing. I also l;earned the Ohio has closed all restaurants, bars and casinos. I'm better off staying in the village.

As usual, these different offices all have different information.
I bought a new truck 4 months ago. I was told by the official at the government vehicle office that as long as I fill out the book I'll be fine. No restrictions on when or where I drive. All of the check points I went through no one ever asked to see the book, day or night. In fact, I was never stopped.

Just looked at booking a round trip flight to the US at the end of the year, and what normally would have been a 55,000 to 65,000 baht ticket is now over 100,000 baht. Now I am not sure the holidays are a factor as I have done this trip many years in a row, going back prior to Thanksgiving and returning after new years.
Booked with EVA Bangkok, Chicago and return for 27,695 Bt. Not business.

So a change of planes in Taiwan coming from the U.S. would require a self quarantine or not?

I used parcelmonitor.com to track a package sent regular mail from the US to my address in Thailand. It tracked it the entire way. I assume it would work going from Thailand to Canada. No need to change language. Just put in the tracking number

The people here are going to do whatever they want. Always have and always will. Instead of targeting the farmers that burn which is a lot, maybe they could target the sugar mills, which are a lot less then sugar farms, and ban them from accepting burnt sugar.
I know then you would need inspectors and God forbid, some may try to offer incentives to look the other way.

I have the app but can not seem to get through it to registrar. I start with the Thai National I.D. No. (My wife's) Then her first Name, Last name, then the next is "Position" I tap on it but nothing happens. I can skip it and enter other information but can not enter anything under the "Position" I asked my immigration officer but he hasn't a clue on how to fill out the registration. Told me to go to the immigration web site for instructions. Went there and found no instructions. Can any of you help?
Thanks

I was talking to a guy that told me that is what happened to him. Two transfers in one month. Nothing the next month. Visa was denied. You would think immigration would see what happened but not in this case. But remember, all immigration stations do what they want. Hope you make out ok.

Does immigration care whatsoever about the source of the FTT monthly transfers? Or, do they simply check for its existence, and that's all?
I asked that at Sirinthorn and was told no need to show where it came from. I specifically asked about letters from my employer about being retired and none was required. Just make sure the bank statement shows it is an international transfer.

Yes, but there might be leniency if a person had their next month's transfer showing at the end of a month (so two transfers that month) and no transfers the next month. That can happen with some pensions payers. Emphasis on might.
Just talked to an individual that had that exact thing happen. Money went in on the June 1st. and the next months went in on June 30th. Nothing was shown for July. Visa extension denied.

I just got back from immigration at Sirinthorn, Ubon Province. I asked about this and was told that they do accept the monthly deposit. He could not answer for what went on at the Ubon office.

actually, the most impolite and miserable Immigration officials I have ever had the misfortune to interact with have been in US Airports. Thai's don't come close.
I been flying back to the US once or twice a year for twelve years. Been through customs/immigration in Detroit, Chicago and Minneapolis. I never had a problem or had a bad experience with any official. Always treated well and always was told welcome back.

Seen a Butter Ball at Villa Market in Udon Thanee. I think it was 12 pounds for around 2,900 baht. Must have been smuggled in since supposedly you can get turkeys from the U.S. At that price it must have flown business class to get here.

Not sure if they will require it but sign with blue ink. Otherwise it looks like a copy to them.

Nothing on the American Embassy's web site.

I'm in Muk (In the city) now. Haven't seen any flooding on the streets. Just went to the bridge this morning and no problems. Of course, things could change quickly. Rivers are very high.

@TPUBON - out of curiosity did Sirindhorn actually thumb through your passport (or the copies you provided them) before preparing the TM7 & TM8 forms for your signature?
Yes she did. Actually she compared the copies of my passport pages to what was in my passport.
-
That is correct. I handed her both forms and she immediately handed them back saying no need for them because she has all the information in the computer. I was surprised. Now this is at Sirinthon, Ubon may be different.
