i have met a bunch of thais who are disillusioned with their country and its government. i think many people tend to be more harsh on their own country then other countries.

i love living in thailand, i just wish it was not so hot.

The "REAL MEN" on the forum claim they don't pay their wife/GF family or the girl nothin'. Your self-respect and hers - out the window. It seems although, that they buy houses and vehicles, gold and other what not's in the sole name of their "true love", in lieu of cash monthly payments. Take her & Mama house shopping. One or two million ought to be good for starters.

Well my wife is one of 10 children, of the married sisters,none were /are bgs,. here are her comments when asked this question, normally its a volunteered amount, not a demand or or a request, one of the husbands gave flowers as he had no money, he told mother in law he was in love with her sister and would look after her, they are still 20 years on happily married,other dowrys ranged from 6.500 baht to 150.000..by the way 2 of the husbands are farang, neither of us has been asked for a penny since the marriage, so whether its "REAL MEN " or not i dont know, but i think its more like is it a "REAL " woman,or a gold digging bg,..in most cases where people i know have married a bg they do pay monthly as in most cases they have had their girlfriend quit work, then of course the wages have stopped and the men take over as breadwinner,.unfortunatly greed also takes over and the family in most of these cases get out the farang milking machine,.some can see this coming,others jump right in,.if it smells wrong, it will be,.

I don't believe this smells bad. Currently, her neighbors daughter and other young ladies in her villiage have married Farang's and one Farang paid 2M Baht. Since then, she has asked me how much I am going to give her mama. I don't know exactly how to answer...yet.

just so you know, sin sot is supposed to be given back to you after the ceremony. but maybe the cultural rules differ for farang spouses. It sounds like that is the case here. Better come up with the 2m before she meets another bloke who can.

most of my farang friends with thai wives send their wive's mothers around 4-6K baht a month. that is more then enough, imho.

you send her 500 USD a month? how much was she living on a month before you came along? its your money so do with it what you want, but something does not add up here.

Do you think that when they swipe your passport at immigration in Thailand that it connects to a database in the US? I don't think so. It just needs to look good, and have the right codes on it.

i did think that. it seems like such a system would be very easy to implement.

i will echo guesthouse's comment and say that the Thais I know have often said that they avoid other Thais like the plague while traveling abroad because they tend to be very nosy and latch on. These Thais are sort of un-Thai in their social habits, fwiw.

i think international banks (the ones i have been too), check that too. in Singapore, they need your ss# right off the bat for you to open an account.

it will become very obvious to her that there are many men in this country her own age who would be interested in her romantically. it has been mentioned on this forum many times that men hit on guys Thai wives in Europe (assuming they are a Pro/Ex-Pro) with great frequency.

i guess if you never let her leave the house without you, and then never let her out of your sight, which I am sure plenty of these blokes are doing, then youll reduce the odds that she decides to sleep with a guy her own age.

or maybe i am totally wrong and she prefers 55-60 year old men, well in that case I guess you have to hope a 55-60 year old man does not hit on her, but in general MOST women prefer men their own age, and when all those guys who "look like Brad Pitt" start winking at her, asking for her phone number... living in another country is as much of an adventure for her as living in Thailand is for you...

In Thailand you have the power because Thai men are not interested in her and there are not enough farang to go around. Once you leave Thailand and she sees that you are no longer rich but just like everyone else, I am guessing she will be thinking about using some of her new found power and trading up.

of course, naturally, self delusion is the greatest paradise on earth, so carry on.

i refuse to believe that he was able to hack the US Passport system. They even have finger printing now. It just seems highly unlikely. When they scan your passport, it has to connect with the system. Does he have inside men?

Not every person taking their spouse to the West is a man with a Thai woman, guys. Rue is an Australian female with a Thai husband so the reactions she will receive will be quite different than the ones a Western man with a Thai wife will receive.

it does not matter, imho, there will always be a guy whose standards she meets.

the bottom line is that if they see her with an older gentlemen, its like a bullseye that says "hit on her. he is old. you are young." if she went alone, then she would just be another girl, but when they see him and her together, I just think that is the way many young guys minds work, that is, to spot easy marks.

if you are an older man taking your younger thai wife to the West, I think you are making a BIG mistake. young men are going to do everything they can to get into her pants the moment they see you and her together, and well, I cant tell you what I think she will do without insulting you.
