  1. Alarmist post,! to try and apply modern day building codes to old building, Thailand knee jerk reaction, if this proffesor is saying to go back and bring the old buildings up to modern day codes this will cost multi billions baht? damaged as shown in pic's need to be repaired to todays codes colums not damage no need Typical Thai, After the fact !!
  2. Thats a good laught !! Thais can hardly Drive !! and RTP are a joke !!
  3. If you have a better idea please tell !! even if there are Physical barriers Thais will still try to get around, no idea about safety, just think of themselves
  4. It all depends on the Design but as i said that buliding was completion of the structural shell, in april 2024 you will be waiting for a long time if you think you are going to wait for an investigation in thailand to be released
  5. If you read my post i said Structure Completed, cladding, windows, interior fit out still to be completed when a building is "topped out," it signifies the completion of the structural shell, or the roof, but not the entire project; the building still requires finishing and interior work before it's fully completed
  6. I just completed this quiz. My Score 0/100 My Time 83 seconds
  7. The structure was COMPLETED in april 2024, Its a blame game ! That what takes the time in any enquiry !
  8. Will all be forgotten in the next couple of weeks, Fall guys have already been picked, china all covered
  9. Total Sham ! just makes Thailand look ridiculous,
  10. Totally different soil/ground conditions, Bangkok is built on a swamp, Vancouver not
  11. Assumptions ! you can not say oh its bad design! oh its the rebar ! their are several factors involved in this collapse, Design is a part of engineering and a factor in the collapse as is rebar, it failed the mass to weight ratio crucial for structural integrity, Cement is also a factor, no news on tests so far, addition of fly ash and slag as this again is a factor in structural integrity. there also is bad workmanship and of course the major factor Corruption
  12. Without some sort of physical barriers this will continue, red green light they will keep on going
  13. If you read the news you will see that the building was topped out which means it was structurally complete no more concrete pours in april 2024 the concrete was a year old max cured, looking at the photos there is one test i would do first off is concrete bonding test to ASTM lots of rebar bare no bonding to concrete
  14. with out seeing the specs for the project do not know what type of steel was used !! was boron added ? just plain carbon steel ?? both types of steel are used in rebar and have diffrent propertys and different applications so its all assumptions ? there are many test yet to be done before you can say the rebar was unsuitable for the project or not
  15. ah ok chinese !! worked for chinese before on joint venutre but never chinese standards !! the way chinese work is very old fashion they use wet straw bedding to cure concrete as an example do not like using excavators rather flood the job with men and shovels weird !!
  16. British standard dought they would have been used ! I have been a Quality manager on many projects like this over the years Mech and Civil dont do electrical
  17. What a joke !! who are they going to get to build this the chinese !!
  18. I am Very familiar with ISO and ASTM standards ( MS is a common nick name for Mass spectrometry) astm standard for rebar also covers "Mass per meter" ASTM A615/A615M-16 this goes into the rebar Structural Integrity and Load-Bearing Capacity also the profile, according to earlier news the rebar failed the Mass per meter test, and you are correct there is a vulnerability in the system has been known for years, mill /heat cert forgery not only for the billet from the furance but in product of pipes rebar ect ASTM is a compicated Standard and very stringent now there is another problem in the mix we are asumming !! that the steel IS to comply with ISO/ASTM standard China has its own standards !! never worked with chinese standards if you note they do not say what standard they are testing too
  19. Yes tend to agree there are several factors for this collapse building are involved but you can cross of the list concrete not properly cured the structure was completed in april 2024 the concrete was a year old before it collapsed
  20. What !! standard ?? ISO, ASTM or some other weird chinese standard did they do a Izod impact strength test, a common method for determining a material's resistance to impact, did the rebar profile comply ?Concrete-Rebar Bond Strength Test ? IF the steel is ok are they testing the concrete
  21. the guy should be in jail for what he has done to the thai people
  22. Basicly there are four thing need to be checked Paper work. P/O, NCRs. RFI, mill/heat certs ect time frame 1 week Rebar destructive testing and MS 1week concrete MS testing 1week modelling of design on PC 1 week Max 6 weeks this guy is starting to cover this up months my axse
  23. Dont worry china it will all be coverd up back to normal in a couple of weeks
  24. Yes agree cover up comming, the design was just part of the collapse still questions on the materials used, corruption, collusion but will all be covered up
