  1. To risk your life, jeopardize your family future for a grudge with a stranger...that just blows my mind...:redcard2:

We don't really know if they were strangers do we? It has been mentioned on the forum that there was a history between the two of them. There could have been something deeper at issue, i.e. jealousy, love triangle, gambling debts or whatever.

    I'm a "family" man...I guess you didn't get my point...B)...a "pool" body is still just a "stranger"...:whistling:

  2. Here is one spotted on the street already, with new "shoes" and tint (hope the owner won't mind)...

Obviously read my post #9 :whistling: now all they have to sort is the "mild" side and rear skirts and it's sorted :)

...and "strategically" applied Pin Striping......actually this can visually elongate the vehicle...B)

    ...this already looks better...:D

  4. There's a ton of different brands of aftermarket filters out there, but the two you've mentioned are the only one's I'd trust (Apexi and K&N) - others may be able to claim better performance, but it's at the expense of filtration ability (i.e. they achieve better flow rates because they filter less contaminants).

The Apexi's are the absolute best IMHO, but they only make complete intakes, not drop-in OEM replacements - well, the last time I looked anyway...

The K&N OEM drop-ins have slightly less flow rate than the Apexi's due to less surface area and a little less free-flowing filter media, but you can trust them to do a great job at keeping the air clean, improve flow rates over the OEM filter element, and you won't have any warranty issues as they're a widely trusted brand.

    Thanks MRO...like always :wai:

  5. I need to change the air filter in my Audi A4 and want to upgrade to K&N,but doing a short research here,I found your link to the test MRO,posted quite a long time ago...http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/....so,is it the best choice,or is there already something new on the market?I want a "stock" replacement only, one that will fit in the air box.The K&N was priced at 2570 BHT for a kit, don't know about the Apexi yet...will appreciate some advise,thanks...

  6. I got my wife to speak to the finance company today and they said even if I put 25 per cent down I will still need a guarantor. This process seems complicated. I asked my boos at work if he could do this fotr me of which he had no problems but because he is a foreigner he cannot do this. They won't even allow a company to guarantee me! How the heck am I suppose to get this bloody car - it seems more hassle than it's worth. They said I can submit all my documents without a guarantor and "they'll see what happens".

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Bes

Which finance company are they using?

On a side note, this is what I've been saying all along; that the first car buyer rebate actually makes new cars less accessible, not more. Pure brilliance.

...maybe putting 30% down will help ?

  7. On the number plate (tabien rot), someone has to pay for it (anywhere from about 1500-6000 Baht depending on the car), but it's also normal that it gets thrown in as a freebie with the deal.. Many dealers these days will try to avoid paying for it though, so you have to negotiate it into the deal.

Beware of profiteering here too - the price they quote is often jacked up..

In my case, they said that they will return the money(3500) after I get the regular plates...but now I wonder,if something got lost in translation..again..??B)What is the "normal" procedure?

If they're talking about giving your money back, that sounds like a deposit on the red (dealer) plates, which is normal (though 3500 seems high).

What I'm referring to above are the white (proper) plates you get after 30-90 days... Some dealers these days are trying to get customers to pay for white plates themselves... and also trying to load the price with a nice on the side commssion to boot - stingy barstards!

Just checked my preliminary contracts...it's 2500 for Almera and 3500 for T6,but Ford also put up some delivery charge of 3500 BHT(!?!)...before the dealers use to cover that ?!

  9. Homemade is always the best. Then you have control of the stuff that goes inside the casing. :)

Agreed. They even have packets of ready mixed herbs and skins in the market. <snip>

Nice to see a thread on sausages run this long without any of the local jesters making references to them looking like kalams!

    ...or the other...staff :lol::lol:

  10. What I would like to know is if there is a switch on the Nissan March to turn off this stop start engine system. I am certainly not into winding down the window in a bid to lower the interior temperature while sat in stationary traffic. the traffic in Bangkok is stationary so much of the time I might as well leave the window open permanently.

Also all this stopping and starting the engine constantly in Bangkok traffic must certainly contribute to excessive wear on the starter motor ?

I'm pretty sure, that March has the same option to turn the "start-stop" thing off at your convenience...so no worries...

  11. diet drinks are for "suckers" who thinks they can get away from their habits...

I've never drunk lots of pop with sugar - only diet pop. So which habit am I trying to get away from? I don't want to quit. So I don't understand your point.

I know diet pop is not healthy. But I enjoy the taste of it. Why is that so provocative to so many people? It seems to me I can eat or drink or smoke just about anything else that's unhealthy, and other people won't say a thing, but when people find out I drink lots of diet pop the snide comments just won't stop. It's very weird.

hey...if you drink "diet" for a taste of it-I apologize... :wai:....

  12. It's hard to mention those safety issues here, without been called a complainer,or worse...but it is a big issue...I've had my children with last night and always been alert that something can fall on the head...well,we've made it and it was fun after all.

    ...one example here, burning lantern...

  13. If you are in traffic a long time l believe the on board computer reads that the battery power is going below a preset level the engine will start and charge battery though you remain stationary. Perhaps and l say perhaps, if the interior gets above a certain temperature the engine will start to power A/C until temp change. :)

no,not in Almera, there is no temp sensor as far I know...if it gets hot you need to start the engine...but I can see the use for it like last night here in CM,very heavy Loi Kratong fraffic, but the temperature was cool enough to roll down the windows...but than again, you will be breathing all this polluted air..:(

  14. There are still those French still there i believe , so perhaps they Drive those funny Renaults English Teachers drove in the Sixties. They have a decided Chip, they have never built a descent Car , perhaps thats why they hate America. And cant pass basic tests. Imagine Old Frogs indignance failing it.cheesy.gif

Over 1700 posts in a little over a year, says a lot about your life experience. Try getting up from the computer once in a while and you might find a little life on the outside. Insulting and demeaning an entire ethnic group out of pure ignorance because of your small and meaningless life is not the way to win friends or influence people. If you're pi$ed off at life that is your problem and no one else's. It's people like you who drag this website down into the mud far too often. Off topic, whining and complaining about everything in sight, truly pitiful. You might want to learn how to use a spell checker too, demonstrates another level of inability. Have a nice day, I'm outta here until the mods clean up this place. Another useful post turned into a sty for a pointless lonely old hermit to wallow in. :realangry:

    :guitar:....sometimes it's just entertainment...;)

  15. Yes I can see the shut down system being of some use in certain places in cooler climates but here in Bangkok the moment the engine is shut off the passenger compartment starts to heat up rapidly. I would hope there is an option to switch the automatic shutdown off like there is on a Honda PCX Scooter ? maybe some one will come along who has a Nissan and explain how his works in heavy traffic and hot weather.

...read post#8...and there is an on/off switch to disable this function...

  16. I've test drove the Almera and checked the ignition shut down...the AC is cut of,but the fan will still operate...useless in the hot climate traffic !!...the car gets hot in just 1 minute...

About the restart, there are 3 methods...1.gently touch the accelerator (or brake?)pedal 2.move the shifter,or 3.move the steering wheel a bit...

  17. There was something I read recently where one of the French manufacturers has a system where the A/C will continue to function for 6 minutes after engine shutdown, used hydraulic pressurised storage from memory. Of course I cannot find it now to reference :realangry:

That would help get around the A/C problem, for a while.

However I personally think this type of engine shut off system in BKK traffic would be a waste of time. Picture this; you are at the lights about 50 cars back, the traffic creeps forward a few metres, you do not move to save fuel, Somchai on the left and Suchart on the right both decide there is a 1% chance of getting a metre ahead and both try and edge into the space and get about half way in. Two hours later you are still there along with Somchai and Suchart and most of the rest of the vehicles in Thailand as neither wants to give way and the road is blocked. Vendors are setting up their foodcarts to take advantage of the captive market, flower sellers are roving the lanes, the clown in the mercedes four cars back has flattened his battery from leaning on the horn. A bit tongue in cheek, but some of it would come true for sure.

    Cheers

  18. Not to worry folks

My wife has found mew a good supply of Pepsi Max and Coke Zero

I couldn't sleep all night worrying about it. biggrin.gif

I drink them too and despite the floods, they seem to come and go for some reason.

I bought a 3 months supply of Pepsi Max 3 weeks ago. I drink about 1 bottle a day of the 1.25 liter variety. Some 7-Elevens in Chiang Mai still have a few 0.5 liter bottles of Pepsi Max in stock, I think - but finding big bottles anywhere now is almost impossible. New pop with sugar keeps arriving in all varieties. But no diet pop.

For some reason some people on this forum get very angry and/or condescending when another member admits to drinking a lot of diet pop. Drinking lots of beer every day seems to be more accepted... Why? I have no idea.

"...Why? I have no idea...."...it's simple...there is NO diet beer !!!...and ,if I was worry about my weight...I'll stick to the "pure" water...without chemicals...diet drinks are for "suckers" who thinks they can get away from their habits...

...good beer is always better than any carbonated, artificial, chemical, flavored BS...:whistling::rolleyes::lol:...here you have it from the expert... :jap:

  19. I've been to Mae Hong Son before, but never did the loop...I think we may be going for this trip,so what are the good(economy) places to stay in Khun Yuan,or MHS ?You've mention booking early...Is it better to go all around by Mae Sariang,or use the "shortcut" via Doi Inthanon?...and witch direction, clockwise or counter-clockwise?...thanks...

...hey...hope I will get some advise to my post too......Happy Loi Kratong !!:jap:
