  1. I am sure that normal BBQ are available in Hastings so do you mean the ones that are bucket size and shape ?

They cost about 150 baht but are heavy and will probably cost many times that to send. Also liable to break as they are clay lined.

  2. I am living happily in Chiang Mai where my mixed Thai/European marriage takes care of the visa and our own IT-related company takes care of the WP.

Please correct me if I am wrong but your WP only covers you for the job detailed in it. If you take up a second job I think you will need a second WP to be legal.

Can someone more knowledgeable than me confirm this ?

  3. Uninteruptable Power Supply.

Basically, a box with a bunch of batteries that power your computer if the mains power goes down. It gives you enough time to save any work open and then shut-down the PC normally. It also has a built-in voltage surge protector. they cost about 1500 baht.

I have got mine hooked up with a car battery.

Keeps it running for a decent length of time.

The original 7ah battery is only good for about 3 mins

  4. I bought a new Honda petrol brush cutter.

It was awful to use. No-one could handle it for more than an hour.

It was 4 stroke and the vibrations made your shoulder go numb and then ache for 2 days. The vibration was coming from the engine it was not the blade out of balance.

Kawasaki are good, I never used a Robin before.

  5. You're talking about a "whipper-snipper" or "weed-whacker" aren't you Thetyim?

What the h.ell are they ?

In UK we call the electric ones a lawn strimmer ( nylon monofilament) and the petrol ones a brush cutter (metal blade)

    Both are hand held.

I did not mean a lawnmower which has wheels or hovers.

However the lawnmowers with plastic blades are a pile of c.rap.

The plastic blades are sold in bags of fifty, that kinda says it all.
