  1. Instead of going all the way to Hong Kong to get a visa why don't you wait until the work permit application is done an the then go to a nearby embassy or consulate to get it. That is what most people do.

Is it possible for a company to apply for a work permit on behalf of a person without a non-B, though?

Yes, that is no problem. The person will not get the work permit but a form and a letter informing the consulate that a work permit wil be issued once the person has the correct visa.

  2. You a minor offense will not be a problem for living here. There are probably many that have been here for several years with one.

Other than an OA visa for retirement there is no back ground check needed needed to get a visa.. For am extension of stay they are also not needed.

For a permanent residency there is back ground check needed.needed but your offense should not effect it being approved.

For a citizenship application their is not background check needed.

Thanks for the information, I've been scouring this site and many others to find solutions to my problem, I'm 29, 30 this year so retirement is out of the picture. If I was to retire here (20 years down the line) how would I not go abouts getting and OA visa? Would it still mean I would need to just get a Marriage extension.

Maybe ask again in about 18 year, I'm sure a lot will be different from now.

  3. An embassy does not do translations.

The procedure is that you have the document itself certified as real by the embassy. next you have it translated by a translation agency and after that you have the certified documents plus the translation certified by the Thai foreign ministry, consular department.

  4. A double entry toruist visa means you can make two entries into Thailand with the visa. Each time you can stay up to 60 days and extend the entry with another 30 days. (But you must make both entries before the visa itself expires).

So you do have to make a border hob (leave and re-entering Thailand) after your first entry, but do not need a new visa and apply again at a Thai consulate. Saving time and money.

  5. The US and China you were a resident, allowing for you to apply for a visa there. Myanmar is relatively new with visas, as untill recently the country was verly closed and not easy to get to.

The restrictive list means that if you are on it your application is subject to extra structiny. I suspect it even needs approval from the ministry in Bangkok. It means that no other consulate than in your home country/ country of residence will issue, unless by mistake such as in Myanmar.
