  1. My wife's niece said many Thai's refuse to use the crosswalks, (pedestrian crossings, or zebra crossings) because they say that's where people die.
  2. So luring someone into a trap and then you and your buddies kicking the heck out of him is smart? That's what it seems like you are saying. I don't remember that special forces training includes ambushing someone using a gang of others. The cowardly part is not that someone uses kicking, it's how it's used.
  3. Totally self serving with a total lack of compassion, that's what I see of you.
  4. 1984? I don't get it, did I miss where 1984 is mentioned in the article?
  5. The Thai authorities have been keeping tabs on Lao vehicles exiting at NongKhai for years now, making them pay outstanding traffic fines before allowing them to cross the bridge back to Lao. If they didn't do so then the drivers of Lao vehicles can go as fast as they want and break as many laws as they want and then just go back home. So I could see how and why that could happen to a foreigner exiting at Phuket. I have heard that one of the reasons the hospitals ask for foreigners passports is so that they can post a notice to Thai immigration if the foreigner does not pay. Maybe someone else can verify if that is true?
  6. Why do you "seriously doubt dual pricing happens in medical facilities" ? How often have you used them? Do you have access that allows you to see what Thai citizens pay? Thailand has a form of subsidized health care, so there's actually a huge difference in what they pay if they meet the requirements and use the government hospitals and clinics in their provinces. Also "Street markets" doesn't mean just street food, it means goods also, I doubt that you have never experienced being overcharged.
  7. Yes, the driver should have seen him, but he shouldn't have been laying there. I feel bad for both of them. If I were looking for a country to drink and party in to the point of being intoxicated. it sure wouldn't be Thailand. Having a few drinks is fine, that being said, not having self control is dangerous no matter where you are.
  8. I think JoePai meant when the original finish date was supposed to be, I do believe that has come and gone years ago, hasn't it?
  9. So does the amount of money you possess indicate the amount of money you spend? How do you think wealthy people get wealthy, by spending all of their money? I have met some really thrifty people who have an awful lot of money. I know a millionaire who cuts cotton buds in half, one half for him and one half for his wife.
  10. Was the American guy on a retirement visa? I fail to see the connection.
  11. In other words Immigration is counting the extension as another Visa Exempt entry? Original visa exempt entry plus extension equals 2 visa exempt entries. But that would also mean they are back to the 2 entry per year limit on visa exempt entries. I have to admit I haven't been keeping up on all this.
  12. It depends on the pharmacy, but the highest percentage will sell them to you without a prescription. Some pharmacists will also print you a prescription and stick it on the bag they put the meds in. I was with my Thai niece when she tried to buy some at a pharmacy in the Tesco mall here, and they said she had to have a prescription. We just went to another pharmacy outside of the mall complex, and they sold them to her.
  13. The family were the victims in this story, and yet you seem to be blaming them. What doesn't seem sensible to you may seem sensible to others. Most people would wait longer than usual if it appeared they were losing a substantial amount of money,
  14. The dogs here in Isan abuse the people, not the other way around.
  15. Sounds like you are just looking for a chance to dump on Americans to me. Back up your opinions with some facts, most of your statements hold no truth, they are just your opinions, and according to the chatter on many online forums, are untrue.
  16. I'm sorry for the family and friends of the deceased fellow. Many times while driving at night I have come up behind heavily loaded trucks going uphill very slow, the tail lights are not very bright at times and the large loads also obscure the other marker lights on the truck at times. But it appears this time that they were traveling in opposite directions. Driving here requires such alertness and concentration at all times, but especially at night.
  17. The lack of compassion so many of the posters on these threads is sickening. Most of you would be playing a different tune if it was one of your family members...but then again maybe not.
  18. No, Where I'm from in the States there are lots of casinos, they are full of people who are not having fun because they have lost money, many times money they couldn't afford to lose. It's a place full of unhappy people as far as I'm concerned and I don't want to be there.
  19. I can understand your reply, but the post I replied to specifically stated that the non o-a one year multiple entry retirement e-visa was currently unavailable. I was asking for source references.
  20. What is the source of this info please? (besides "an unrelated thread"). The one year, multiple entry retirement visa I applied for and received 18 months ago in my home country was an e-visa.
  21. I was thinking that looks like a big John Deere Tractor pulling a big double disc in the back ground, are those fir trees in the background also?
