It's pretty obvious the van and the truck are battling it out with each other.
Instead of continuing until the right lane is free, the van tries to push the truck off the road only to come off second best. Notice the truck driver doesn't apply his brakes until the very last moment when the van is spinning out of control infront of him.

Does look like it could be a road rage incident, van passing on oncoming shoulder, the fact that the truck in the collision was being passed by another truck indicates it was going pretty slow. It would be interesting to see how many vehicles were in the backup, not that it makes the van driver any less at fault. Any word on how many passengers or the extent of injuries? Feel bad for them if there were any.

    Not insured I assume....

    If not ...why not.....?

This is a certain accident, and would be covered by the most modest layout for cover..

What is it with people that always turn everything around to be the victim's fault anyway? Are you perfect in everyway? Always covered by some type of insurance for any tragedy that may happen?

All of the insurance and money in the world would not bring this poor fellows life back nor comfort his family and friends.

An educated guess would be 50% end up as an expensive towel rack.

Have you ever committed to an exercise program before?

I would join a gym for a few months and see if you have the motivation

Just depends on the person, if it were me it would be a towel hanger, but I have gone through three sets of tires on my bicycle in the last few years. My wife on the other hand has worn out two treadmills. We won't join gyms because we like the freedom to chose our time and also like our privacy.

  4. I really like my S5, had a couple of S3's before that and the wife has an S4 mini. The S3's were good for a couple of years but then just went dark, turns out they have a flawed chip in them that burns and is expensive to replace. The s4 mini has been good too but the S5 has a nicer feel and larger screen.

Haven't had the S5 too long, my friends call me "the Bermuda triangle for phones" my luck with phones is so bad, so if it lasts for me it has to be bullet proof. Bought it on e-bay for 136$ new a few months ago.

I doubt the Thais will be crying too much - the story relates to Cambodia.

Best to actually read the story properly first before hitting the outrage button.

Until you get to the last paragraph it's really hard to tell the article is not about Thailand, almost got me too.

I'm right handed but pretty sure I could pull a trigger with my left hand !! However, the lawyer is probably on the ball with this case... Good on him

yes you probably could...but the question would be...why would you use your left hand? (considering you are totally right-handed that is). I agree totally about the lawyer.

'Thais turn on minivan.' I'm not sure what this means, but who cares. Why were these people not sitting in the very comfortable and spacious train? Do a little research before your trip you fools, and you will see that no sane person ever ever gets inside a long distance mini-van in Thailand.

Why not have compassion for them instead of turning it back on them like it's their fault? The long distance mini-vans would not be in service if they were not a viable option. There are people that don't like the motion or noise of trains, or who get motion sickness from them.

Be careful. If you expose her on the internet she will be able to get the police to charge you with criminal defamation and a computer crime act charge.

It doesn't matter that you are telling the truth and that you can prove it.

This is exactly right, the sad part is that you cannot tell anyone specific details about it and cannot name the company because of fears of being sued for defamation. It does not matter if it is the truth, if they can prove you caused them a loss of reputation (face) they will win.

Also if you wait too long the company will only have to pay you small monthly amount in retribution, if you win and they have the funds that is.

I think, your best and easiest option is to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O-A” (long stay) at a Thai Embassy in the USA. Otherwise, you are hassling with all these short-term patchwork visas. For sure there will be people who might know better. I dabbled at research on this subject as I am also making plans to retire and do extensive travel in SEA.

For the background checks you can do this at the state level or use the FBI Identity Summary. This takes forever and requires a fingerprint submission. I used my state CORI System and got the results back within days. There were errors in the report and I cleaned them from the report. So, this is fixed, 'No Criminal Record'.  Regardless, this is worth doing to check for yourself.

The health check is very basic, they are not looking for being overweight or high-blood pressure, just communicable diseases. I am a veteran and I can have this done free, however, it shouldn't cost much at a local clinic. Also, the financial requirements are done here, not from Thailand.

    More details and forms here.

    http://thaiembdc.org/visas/

Also, the Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O” is only available outside of Thailand, and I looked everyplace in the US and I can't find this available for purposes of 'retirement'.

I am sure others will help you along.

I opted for the US royal consulate in LA for mine, the only thing about it is that extending it in the U.S. is not an option, the whole application process must be done again and a new visa issued. If you wish to use funds in the U.S. for verification and not move them to Thailand it's a good option (in my case I would have had to move funds for I and the wife). I didn't think the application process was overly difficult.

Are you talking about the "Skylab" model? The local VFW Post even has one . But, it does say POST 10249 on it.

Mine is a model that is made in Sakhon Nakhon, it looks like the motorbike style tuktuk but is quite a bit bigger, it has a three cylinder 660cc Daihatsu engine and a five speed transmission, both the engine and transmission are from a Daihatsu Mira car. It is quite fast for a TukTuk.

  11. I am on my second TukTuk in 10 years, but we are in NongKhai so they are not "Bangkok TukTuks". You only need a regular driver license unless you are taking paying passengers, and in that case you are working employment that is prohibited for foreigners. The vests with numbers on them are the licenses that Tai TukTuk drivers have, they have to purchase them from the police.

To keep the police from stopping you and checking you out (especially if you have Thai friends or a Thai wife in the back) you really should put notices on each side in Thai that say "not for hire". I have had both Thais and foreigners hail me for rides but have always apologized and told them I am not licensed to carry passengers.

After having my tuktuks it would be really hard to do without them, I know there are a few people that look down their noses at me for driving it, but I really don't care. People should worry more about what they look like on the inside than the outside anyway. I do have a Fortuner for longer trips or for bad weather days, but the tuktuk gets more use by far.

I don't know if this is the case everywhere, but up here three-wheeled vehicles are exempt from road taxes, they do have to be insured though.

PVC is a better insulator than aluminum, which is important where window frames sweating is a problem in cold weather when you heat a house/condo.  This could be important if you live in Northern Thailand, or even Central Thailand, if you heat in the winter.  It isn't important if you don't heat the house/condo in winter.

Aluminum will ultimately last longer than PVC, which slowly breaks down, but will ultimately look worse.  The screens will go first.

Are the screens inside?  Why the H E double L would you want screens inside, which means you have to open them in order to open the window?  You want the screens outside so you can open the window without letting bugs inside.  If you have sliding glass doors you also want screens for them.

Do you air condition a lot of the time?  If you do then you want double glazing to reduce the heat transfer through the windows and doors to reduce your AC costs.

As far as the screen question goes, it's not possible to have a screen on the outside unless it is a "slide to open" window. I am in the process of building a small school building and plan on using "tilt to open" windows or swing windows because with a sliding window you can only open 50% of the window. There are devices that are fitted through the inside screens that allow for opening of the windows without removing the screens, or the screens could be hinged to allow them to be opened to access the windows.

He could at one of the honorary consulates. http://thaiembdc.org/royal-thai-honorary-consulates-general-in-the-u-s/

Perhaps he is not living near one of them since they have to be applied for in person at most of them.

I believe the Retirement Visa is only available at the Royal Consulates or Royal Embassies in the U.S., is it not? I applied for mine and recieved it at LA last year.

"...make them vulnerable to the actions of unscrupulous people."

The major difference from what is now happening, is  that these unscrupulous people will be paying them.

Looks like the actions of both are unscrupulous to me, interesting how they separate the person who is putting themselves up to be viewed and the person who is doing the viewing.
