Makes you wonder how much she would have demanded from a farang tourist or expat????
doesn't make me wonder at all, and it shouldn't make you either

The advantage of getting it in the U.S. is that you can use your U.S. bank account as proof of funds if you don't meet the minimum monthly income statute, if you are going to use the proof of monthly income then that's different. When it comes time to renew you can't do that in the U.S. though...you would have to renew it in Thailand or else just re-apply for another new visa in the U.S. using new documentation of police background check, medical check, proof of funds etc...

At L:EAST AN OFFICIAL WHO IS NOT TOTALLY STUPID LIKE ALL OTHERS:
The public official - who was not named - said it was just a minor matter. It was not as if it was something serious like Ya Ba, he claimed.
was your first comment supposed to be a joke?

He's profiled on TV...he must be guilty.
Yeah...it has nothing to do with the fact that he is caught on CCTV exchanging fake money.

This whole deal smacks of "Phu Yai". A Lao student driving a Benz and a Thai Gov't official stepping in to help.

condolences to the family.
We are not given enough information to know the exact cause of her tragic death.
Hi blood pressure can cause organ damage and also weaken blood vessels which can lead to aneurisms or strokes, just as the previous poster said. Many people here who have high blood pressure think that they can just take a few pills and are all cured. They don't understand that it requires daily medication to keep It under control, not just a couple of pills.

"He smelled her"...yes, he did, and his facking nose was touching her when he was doing it!
What about the part when he was touching her leg, doesn't that count?
In the first part of the video it looks like he is doing quite a bit more than sniffing or touching her leg...take another look.

Ground wire, not needed. Circuit breaker, not needed. Ground fault indicator, not needed.
The whole country is like this. Your house and condo too. Don't think so? Unless you stood there and watched them build your house, saw them drive the ground rod into the Earth and saw them hook the common Earth ground up, you are kidding yourself.
didn't "see them" do any of those things. Wired the entire house myself, installed three different earth rods and a breaker box with a main ground fault interrupter for the whole place. did this because all of the things you stated above are true for the majority of the places here.

I have found many other farangs to be unapproachable. I don't feel like I am partial to anyone, but it seems like when I try and talk to most other foreigners they just aren't interested.

How would you know unless you were there?

Reminds me of the farmer that hung the bell on his errant cow so he could always find it....the cow soon learned that if it stood very still the bell did not ring and the farmer couldn't find it.

It's a shame, but it's more and more common to hear of the Thai and Lao people falling victims to these types of scams. It comes from a combination of greediness and being new to the online world, this can also be said of people the world over, after all....who doesn't want to be rich?

In Malaysia there are no special sim cards for foreigners, just ordinary sim cards that need to be registered. I only had to show my passport to get one, easy enough.
In Laos and Cambodia no ID of any kind was needed, just plug and use.
Maybe Cambodia, but Laos requires Sim registration.

Hope they sue Gravity and the makers of the defective fence and post box. He tried to halt a moving vehicle and made a mistake doing it. Should have just let the Jeep roll downhill.
Have you any knowledge of the gear shift lever design in the jeep that rolled into him? The shift lever does not remain in the gear it is shifted to but returns to a central location, making it possible to believe that you shifted the vehicle into "park" when maybe you did not in fact move the lever far enough before it's return. If the vehicle operator was in a hurry to exit the vehicle it's quite possible they would not pay enough attention to the electronic indicators that show the vehicle did not actually go into park.

The US Resort is a ruse to be used to lure spies from Russia, China, Iran, N. Korea, and ISIS to the resort.

You've been watching far too many movies, besides it would be far cheaper to just ask the 13 year old gamer next door.

It's normal for companies profits to rise and fall, when the price of sugar drops I don't see the soft drink companies lowering their prices.

And yet you keep coming back...maybe why it keeps going up. It's a one-percent charge on a 20k withdrawal (even less if you use an ATM that allows a 25k draw). It's seems reasonable to me.
Actually most bank cards from the States will limit your withdrawal transactions to much less than 20,000 baht. They are not like the Thai bank cards, so the percentage you quoted is not really accurate for everyone.

According to their website, today they are showing 3 Western movies with English soundtracks.
http://www.majorcineplex.com/booking/search-results.php?cinemaId_1=19
I've only ever seen one English soundtrack movie at the Big C cinemas and none at all at Landmark.
That's odd...I watch their online listings all the time and always see English soundtrack movies listed at LandMark and sometimes at Big C also. I have never seen anything listed that I really wanted to see yet. Are the online listings wrong?

I knew this story would be about cats, but what a moronic and childish headline that I'd expect from Coconuts.
I saw a pair of identical cats this morning, too. They were both black.
I agree, I would expect a headline like that from a 14 year old boy, but wait...it looks like there are a bunch of replies from 14 year old boys as well!

I've had it happen a few times here in the 8 years I have been here in Isaan, but not near as much as in a certain country across the Mekong. I think those who say that it doesn't happen to them maybe just don't see it, it has also probably happened to me more than I know.
But I have also had people here go out of their way to save me money and had people stop me and let me know when I have dropped money and given it back to me.

bor = bore hole ??
Bor is the Thai word (in Isaan anyway) for a ground supply. If it is rock then it is a Bor Hin, if jewels it is a Bor Kaew. If water then I believe it normally means a hand dug well, a drilled well is a Nam Vadarn.

So...I'm kind of wondering what the Septic Tank Pumpers Association's advertising promotion is going to say?

Multi O-A Retirement Visa at Los Angeles Consulate
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I just applied for and received a multiple entry O-A Retirement Visa at the Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, by my own fault I waited too long to be able mail mine and my wife's paperwork and passports in so I ended up making the trip in person. I brought all of the paperwork as listed on the website and made sure that the Bank Account Verification letters, the Medical Certification Form, and the Police Background Check were all notarized, also required were 200$ money orders or cashier checks for each visa.
I showed up at 9 am opening time and after getting a visitors badge just inside the door headed up to the second floor. I turned everything in at the "Visa" window and was out of there in no time. I showed up the next morning at the time listed on the receipt (10:30 am to 12:00 noon) and retrieved our passports with the new visas. It was very smooth and the consulate staff was very polite and helpful, especially the gentleman at the "Visa" window.
