Has there been even one person (outside of Ulysses G.) to give a good report on this restaurant??
If you go back and look at the thread, most of the people who actually commented on the food - instead of the proprietor - thought it was pretty good and he has only been open a little more than a week.
He got very angry that I had put him on the internet before he had time to work out the kinks, and in retrospect, he was right.
I have gone back and the only other poster who liked the food was Sojourner. Even he said his wife's food was below par.
I can understand why Mike is upset with UG. An over the top Trink style recommendation hasn't done him any favours.
It might be fairer to shut this thread and perhaps reopen it after Mike has had a chance to get things organised.

Time to be pompous but this is a bit off.
The guys dead, so calling him a Yank is a bit low.

1. Gormless expat buys drugs from man in street.
2. Man in street tells police.
3. Police reward drug seller and arrest gormless expat.
One of my first experiences of Thailand was an undercover cop trying to sell me drugs at the grand palace.

Put the old lady in the boot. Tell your friend to get the bus and drive off with the girl.

Sadie Thompson and the dirty vicar.

Cook slowly over a charcoal grill, remember to turn it over every few minutes until the flesh is crispy throughout. Eat with a dish of thai BBQ sauce.
The tenderness of this dish will depend on the age of the bird. Young chicks are very tender and juicy and can be eaten in one bite.

A number of posters have compared Mike's unfavourabley to the "Salsa Kitchen".
Perhaps someone can tell us more about this place.

I can't wait to get back to NY for some real Mexican food.
If you need any help, I'll pitch in for a ticket.
Wake up Senor Pompouseno, you're lucky to get any freakin Mexican food in Chiang Mai at all! Do you get a little chubby telling the board about great deals in NY? If not, why bother? I bet another 5 guys could come on here and insist they know better and cheaper.
A bit over the top considering el jefe's posting was generally polite and constructive. Unless of course Polecat happens to own a Mexican Restaurant.
It's amazing how much heat these galloping gourmet threads generate.

Very hazy here and cold but that's air conditioning for you.

President Bush was visiting a primary school and he dropped in on one of
the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words
and their meanings. The teacher asked the President if he would like to
lead the discussion on the word "tragedy". So the illustrious leader
asked the class for an example of a "tragedy".
One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a
farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him
that..... would be a tragedy."
"No," said Bush, "that would be an accident."
A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children
drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside that would be a tragedy."
"I'm afraid not," explained the president. "That's what we would call a
great loss."
The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Bush searched the
room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a
tragedy?"
Finally at the back of the room a small boy raised hand. In a quiet
voice he said:.... "If Air Force One carrying you and Mrs.Bush was
struck by a "friendly fire" missile and blown to smithereens, that would
be a tragedy."
"Fantastic!" exclaimed Bush. "That's right. And can you tell me why that
would be a tragedy?
"Well," says the boy, "It has to be a tragedy because it certainly
wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be an accident
either."

Sadman pretty much got all the games to a tee, scores and team performance. He might consider a change of career to sports journalism.
Italy 18 - 18 Wales
Ireland 15 - 9 Scotland
France 31 - 6 England

Hmm, now I think about it - I start work in May, so I will be eligible to join - so once I'm all tooled up I'm coming looking for you, JackR!!!
He's the skinhead wearing the england scarf, might be difficult to spot.
Let's come back to this in a few months and see what they've been up to.
Man, I'm Scottish - the last thing I'll wear is an England scarf!
You'll be second on my list now - and Lamphun isn't as far as Pattaya!
I was referring to JackR but if you're looking for me I'll be in the Diggers in May.

Probabley a used car dealer from Essex if you know what I mean.

Ireland vs Scotland will be close, but I'd say Scotland by a 10 point margin. 20 points
Wales vs. Italy. Wales by a 30 point margin 40 points.
France vs England. France aren't playing too well this time round, but we've seen that England are looking tired. Too much weight and not enough speed. I'd give it to France by a ten point margin. 10 - 0

What happened to the Farang police liaison person supposedly appointed personally by Thaksin ?
Never heard of that appointment. Any links or references, as I can't find any mention of it on the forum. Thanks..MM

So what are handcuffs and baton for?“These volunteers are not here to fight crime,” says Pol Lt Col Nattawut Chotikanjanawat, inspector of the Chiang Mai Tourist Police. “They are here to serve as an intermediary between tourists and the Thai culture and police. They translate between various languages and Thai, they teach our tourist police to speak English, they tell tourists where to find certain things, or what to do under various situations. My thoughts too. It's a good idea that maybe needs a bit of fine tuning and a more defined job description.
If you have a problem it's really good to be able to talk to someone that can liaise with the TP and avoid mistakes and misunderstandings.

I know that Ee iand Ai in Thai are rude. Ai usually comes with a swear word attached. However Ai is pronounced with a different tone in northern Thai. I had the impression it was an informal but polite address.
Is King a word used by both sexes ?

Everybody else does it so no problem. She may get a visit from the tax people after a few months, no big deal.
My sympathies mate you'll now have a house full of other peoples washing.

Does The Scouser work behind the counter at the British Embassy ? Must be some reason for this.

This was just as funny the last time I heard it, a few years back.

Condensate is a type of OIL.
Odd that a press release from an oil company doesn't say that.

I personally would travel to another country and then sneak across the border, secure a dodgy passport, move up country, find a nice country girl, get married and then retire peacefully out of sight
Isn't that what the German fella did, who got arrested last week in Isaan.
I'm sure you'd get bored with this lifestyle. Why not set your sights a bit lower, say 10 million baht. Then you could pull off a heist every few years and keep your hand in.

Just before anyone starts on the Russians (or some other race) I'd better remind everybody that racism is not tolerated on the Forum (please see the rules)... so in order to keep this thread alive and kicking, let's just keep it to farangs in general...
OK?
Quite agree, we shouldn't be hard on the soapdodgers, their a bit sensitive at the moment having lost at the rugby.

After this restaurant owners will be queueing up to pay UG not to recommend them on ThaiVisa.
