  1. 30 or so years ago when he wrote for the Bangkok World his weekly reports always contained a tale of his last session at the old Takara Massage Parlour - run by Ladda who he called "the Queen of Patpong" -, in particular he graded each girl on her expertise in "specials" - Bernards little euphemism for a bj.

    Patrick

Yep those Bangkok World "Go Go Dancer of the Week" centre spreads were classic, tongue in cheek so to speak. That was BT at his high point. I never liked his column in the Post, too little effert to entertain and too much to fill space. Perhaps this was because he wasn't allowed to discuss his area of expertise.

  2. No worries Patters is plenty safe. The crime is no worse than anywhere in Thailand, just happens to be magnified especially when farang are involved. :D

    :o:D:D:D

    Britmaveric strikes again.

The main problem in Pattaya for a family is burglary. Unfortunately this is much higher in Pattaya than in the rest of the country, perhaps because of the drug problems and the easy pickings from the thousands of farang who have moved into the area. If you want the beach I'd suggest Phuket, it's safer but more expensive.

  3. Germany will win 2 -1 . Holland held the Argies and Germany are a better team than Holland....Go place your bets now..... :o

You may be right, these boring teams tend to raise their game to the occasion. I'd like Argentina to win as they're probably the most entertaining attcking team in the competition.

  4. Time to put on my "Rasta" Wig (If I can get the fleas and mites out of it)

    Sounds like fun

Same area where we took Jock to see his wedding band the first time he came up, TP. Alright for a change of scenery.

That little area seems to have taken off.

  5. If you don't have a safe in your home, where is the best place to keep them? I mean, obviously 402,000 Baht would have been better off in the bank, but things like foreign currency, gold etc.?

True, what if your not home? if you don't keep valubles in a safe, where do you keep them?

    Cheers

It's called a safe deposit box and it resides in a bank. Crazy to keep that amount of money in the house especially in Pattaya.

Now you have it right!! :o

    especially in Pattaya

No Brit I was right the first time. Sorry if the Pattaya whitewash brigade gets upset. :D

  7. Unless you have some experience with F&B I'd avoid it like the plague. It's a great way to lose money.

The farangs I know who do make a bit of cash tend to do "non standard" stuff. Exporting garden pots and ornaments for instance. Motor bike tours.

You could try the second hand book business. There's a few shops here already but they all seem to be hobbies of the owners rather than serious businesses.

As for internet cafe's the place is saturated at 15baht an hour the profit margin has to be low. I notice game shops do a 24 hour business, but if they're making money you'll probably find the gangster element in charge and you not welcome.

  8. Probably the same fellow MJM is refering to. He's too dumb to use a computer so I doubt he's posting here.

    I'll start the game then

Blinky Bill - ex cop (Am I getting warm ?)

  9. Pity the information being presented here indicates the presence of long-held grudges.

Well the expats who've been here for years tend not to forget. Apologies to Blinky Bob, I thought mistakenly that he might be that Aussie mutt bar owner from moon muang. Looking back over his old posts I realise I was mistaken. I probably know him but can't quite match up his stories to a face.

A good game for the Chiang Mai forum might be "Guess the long term farang".

  10. Perhaps the staff at O'Malley's learnt the fine art of being little turds from their Canadian boss Scott.

I've known him for a few years and always found him to be a friendly social sort of person. I must assume that BB is a business rival.

I walked into my office building reception a 4 m yesterday to find the security guard singing along to George Micheal's "I'm never going to dance again", somewhat unsettling.
