1. Hello. I am trying to locate a traditional thai drum. I want to purchase one and give it as a gift to a blind thai person. I will be staying in Jomtien until the end of August. Anyone got any idea where I can locate a drum and the price range I should expect to pay. Thanks in advance.

You should read Peter Lloyd's column in the latest edition of Pattaya Today. By giving this blind person a drum he may go the same way as his 'friend' in Chiang Mai and enter into quite a lucrative business. :o

  2. I'm intrigued to learn more about traditional Thai music myself and if you would like to PM me we could perhaps get together with jamming sessions playing the various instruments. As a relative newcomer to the scene I may be showing my ignorance, but how does one actually play the coconut? Does one chop it in half and bang the two pieces together to produce a sound similar to a horse trotting? Anyway drop me a line and we can cause a right old racket and be well away.

jpm76, I know I shouldn't be nasty but I really, really hope that someone builds an entertainment complex with 100 floor hotel/condo in the sea right in front of you. And don't think it can't happen - that's what condos outside the 200 meters thought.

Thanks Tammi, for taking another step. No that you agree VT7 wil be built, you may dream about another complex in front of us.
Once that will happen, you may laugh. By the way, VT7 never guaranteed me my seaview, I didnt even ask for it.
So if your entertainment complex will be built, I wont even go to court. I have better things to do than losing time, money and face.

But I am very happy you agree that this thread can be closed. Respect!
What very well may happen is that a nice entertainment complex will be built in front of Jomtien Complex after View Talay 7 is knocked down. It will pack a lot of fun into the legal height of 14 meters -- movies, pubs, a bowling alley, nice restaurants. Residents of the Dong Tarn Beach area will enjoy a lovely addition to our neighborhood.

Are all the anti-VT7 bunch completely stark raving bonkers, blinkered, deceitful and egotistical? They seem to be getting worse lately. It's like if you keep telling a lie over and over, after a while you believe its true!

  4. If it legally take 10 plaintiffs to start legal action in the beginning as you said before, and now there are only 8, how can you continue with your case?

You should look into this as it could be trump card against you. IMO the 2 that left must be more smart not to be include in the case.

  5. I have done a lot of research on this and spent quite a bit of money, had suits and shirts made from a number of tailors in Pattaya, some of them not even worn as they were crap. Basically, all the Indian tailors, Next, Classic etc or all pretty sub standard and cheap, but ok if thats what your looking for.

After a few years here and a lot of research, I now use two shops. I get my shirts from Burda Tailors. opposite Friendship Supermarket, Pattaya Tai. It is owned by a guy called Wanchai. Not so cheap, but very good quality and he is a real tailor, as they also make wedding dresses etc. If you go, say I gave the recommendation (Tim), he'll sort you out.

I have also bought a suit from a tailor who has a small shop next to the pool at the Garden Cliff resort and spa, Naklua soi 16. He's a Bangladeshi and I was happy with the fit and material.

Tell these guys exactly what you want. I emphasised that quality was more important to me than price and these (especially Burda) are the only ones in Pattaya who understood me.

''Basically, all the Indian tailors, Next, Classic etc or all pretty sub standard and cheap, but ok if thats what your looking for.''

thats not been my experience at Next over the last eight years nor has it been the experience of any of my friends that i have recommended nor was it what i or they were looking for.

after all who sets out to get ''pretty sub standard and cheap'' clothyes?

have you ever actually bought anything from Next to be able to deliver such a generalisation?

    or

are just making assumptions that all indian tailors are the same?

    or

maybe you (tell him Tim sent you) are on a commission from your recommended tailors.

for the record i get nothing from Next only good service and clothes delivered exactly as i ordered them.

    Keep your Alan's on too.

May be this Tim guy would like it known that he is pleased with this guys service and has made the recommendation not for a commission, but may be for a small discount next time he goes in.

By the way it's all subjective if you're used to buying your suits from Top Man, Burtons or even a mail order catalogue you would say that Next make good suits. :o

  6. fredKroket; the breaking of the law is not a defense! Even if you bought a building permit to make your action look legal. Tomorrow is the day we fine out about the king's admin court system?

I read this thread before and see many these people say about corrupt. are you now say hilton and holiday inn pay for building permit? I think you say all people corrupt if they not agree you.

you will have answer tomorrow from king admin court? I think I know answer already and I dont think you like to hear it. maybe they take down holiday inn hotel if you right? no.

  7. fred,

wow thats enought o get you banned for life from this forum.

I'm sorry I new to this website and don't mean to offend anyone in particular, like I say it's difficult to know who to trust in this town.

  8. I don't know if you look at pattaya mail but there is some talk about making pattaya have special changes as a tourist destination to be made in government. They are talking about building out into the sea by walking street. I don't really think pattaya is a beach resort, more a city by the sea. if people want to visit the beach they should go to hua hin, samet, samui or phuket. pattaya is known for its wild nightlife not for its beaches. do you swim in sea here in all the crap? pattaya will not become favourable for foreign investment if what you say happens. do you think hilton and holiday inn would make their hotels here if your law is correct? no.

  9. He has to be joking. I think it is a problem to buy these type of low cost condo because building material is increase so much all over the world. Metal and concrete prices have gone crazy. How can they make this low cost condo and say it will ready late this year or early next. you should buy something already built to guarantee it is complet. It is not just low cost condo can you think how much increase it is to build ocean 1? I don't think it will happen.
