Wrong. Musk isn't going to sue anyone. He doesn't have to prove a thing. Unsworth has to do all the proving.
No, in the UK Unsworth just has to show the item was published. Musk has to prove it was true.

He apparently has not refuted the remarks in public according to the article "Unsworth said he hadn't flatly denied Musk's accusation because he was waiting for legal advice."
You have the whole burden of proof idea backwards. If he decides to bring a libel suit, the onus is on Mr. Unsworth to prove libel. No "prosecutor" would be involved in a libel suit (unless he decides to bring a criminal libel suit). It would be plaintiff's attorney vs. defendant's attorney.
Under Thai law a Criminal Libel suit may be launched without the prosecuter's involvement.

He probably was using his satellite phone. So those signals bounce off a satellite. So who has jurisdiction over a satellite phone?
It does not matter where he was, it matters where someone saw the tweet. Personally I would sue in the UK, where he has to prove his claim that Unsworth is one (and where Musk lost against TopGear allready) or/and in Thailand where it could be a criminal prosecution....either public or private and hence our friend Musk would be in very big trouble if he ever came here.

Vets are animal doctors.
I presume they know something about medicine then.
Probably at least as much if not more than a senior nurse. They are also used to dealing with patients who cannot communicate with them fully.

My guess is the sedation is about the same as when the doctor shoves that huge long tube in your backside and pushes it up through your colon to check for problems, or shoves the camera down your throat to look at your lungs.
It was fortunate they had a doctor who understood anaesthesia and diving and was able to optimise the amount of sedation so that it was enough but not too much.

From the above case:
The Nova Scotia Supreme Court decision comes after two years of comments on an American blog, incorrectly linking Trout Point Lodge to a Louisiana political corruption scandal.
Yes Nova Scotia is in Caanada....The person in canada could sue. Collection could I guess be made against any of the defendants assets in Canada if any.
In the case of Thailand of course the penalty for not paying if he came here would be at least not to leave. Possibly with free acomodation provided.
It is not where you write that determines where you can be sued.

In the USA it would possible for Mr. Unsworth to find attorneys to take his libel case on a contingency basis. No such arrangement is legal in Thailand so who would be paying upfront for his legal fees?
It is a criminal not a civil case here

why is jurisdiction for such a defamation action in thailand?
Because the tweets were available to be read here. Remember the Swiss author who was arrested for something published only in Switzerland.

On Sunday, Musk fired back with a series of tweets where he said that Mr Unsworth living in Thailand was “sus”, suggesting that the only reason the British expat would choose to live in Thailand was to be involved in child sex tourism.
Mr Unsworth and not only him should sue the arse off Musk does his statement mean all British expats who live in Thailand are involved in child sex tourism???
And not in US courts.where the lawyers just pocket the money they settle for but in the Thai Courts where it is a Criminal lible where Musk would be liable for arrest if he ever passed through Thailand again. He is so sure of himself that he would ignore that and come here sure he was safe.

The ex vet was the diving partner of the Australian doctor. As they had worked together on several rescues I would think it very reasonable that they worked on this as Harris needed someone he knew and could rely on who also knew how each other worked and reacted.

As any practice of Medicine by a non Thai registered practitioner is a criminal offence I would think it only sensible that the embassy ensured that the rescuers were protected.

I thought the only thing I had to worry about in Thailand was boats going down.

A criminal deformation case lodged here could no doubt cause EM problems on his next visit. As he also commented badly about the Thai leader of the rescue he may not get too much sympathy.

I am not sure about this. Obviously, they were briefed as soon as the offer came in. But in living and working here 10 years in a job where I get to meet Thai engineers and academics I have been often surprised by how little some (even with foreign degrees) know or care about what's going on elsewhere. Not trying to belittle people who are good at what they do, but soaking up world news is just not a passion for many.
So, an older Govt. official not knowing about Elon Musk wouldn't be out of the ordinary at all. And neither was K. Narongsak likely to have been impressed on being told that a "Khon Amerika ruwai mak" wanted to see him just as the operation was about to be over.
The upshot was he was curt and Elon was miffed. But who gives a rat's ass. The boys are safe.
Do not forget that K. Narongsak has degrees in Engineering and in Geology. Do not write him off as someone who is an aged know all.
Mr Narongsak obtained a Master of Science (Geodetic Science and Surveying) degree from the Ohio State University in the US, and bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineer from the Kasetsart University plus Law, Information Technology and Political Science from Sukhothai Thammathirat University.

Who apointed Rick Stanton as co-leader. the only person I can find giving him that position is Musk.
It may be that some of his statements he made to Musk were not those he was permitted to make as there were communication restrictions strictly placed by the rescue leaders.

Of course the ones that came here got a 5 year visa with the Elite card.
-
The fine is not the important point. It is a way of the Police getting identity photos and details in case of further problems.
-
I hope Vern receives one of those Elite Cards and not just the ones that flew in.

Someone who knew what they are doing could do it easily using something like a rasbery Pi which you can get here....from Lazada and others
Total costs would be round 2000baht for hardware.
It would though be easiest to use the ready made solution here for 1900 out of the box
but I was beaten to it. Though you do want this wireless one and not the hard wired USB one

A couple of years ago a man was stopped from leaving and had to remain here for over a year not able to work because a house owner accused him of stealing furniture. He was found not to have done so and allowed to leave.
British caver says he approached by U.S., British lawyers over Musk's comments

They would be two separate lawsuits....we are talking about Unsworth suing Musk and in the UK courts the matter of the submarine is not relevant in any way to the defamation.
