  1. All I know is that the RTC charge duty on books new and old. :)

Even 10 years old audio cassettes recorded by myself.

Unheard of in a civilised country.

so you're answering YES to question 3? Or not?

  2. Thanks verymuch for all your replies so far.

Zorm999that’s just the kind of feedback I was hoping for – much appreciated.

    :)

Does the same apply for Koh Surin, in early may BEFORE they close the park, obviously?

What about Phang Nga? Same Same?

  3. anyone buying stuff from amazon?

    1) will they accept a thailand bank (debit) card and/or a thailand bank account for payment (i.e. not home country banks)

    2) is the shipping a 'relatively' reasonably price or is it cost prohibitive (I know it depends on what you buy...books and such, for example)

    3) does the post/customs in thailand open the box and have you come down and pay a duty (I heard this is the case)

I would like to hear from people with 'actual experiences'.

    thanks to all

  4. I frequently use paypal together with my Thai HSBC credit card, however I only use it to purchase. On the rare occasion that i receive payment for something or other via paypal I just use those credits for future online purchases

Hmmm. I know exactly what paypal is - maybe I should have pointed that out?

I was wondering why my card was not 'good enough' to activate the account.

And whether other people have had a similar problem, and how they solved it.

    thanks.

  5. I opened a Thai paypal account. But...

So, first off paypal would not allow me to use my SIAM BANK debit/atm card to 'activate' my account.

    So I can't use it.

Without attaching a card, apparently just having a ban account isn't good enough.

Has anyone ACTUALLY opened/used a Thai paypal account and how did you do this? (no guessing allowed)

I am not interested in creating/using a non-thailand (i.e. home country) paypal account.

thanks so much for your help.

  6. Just answer one question - is your CBR stock?

Ive had eight 2 strokes just in Thailand, believe me I know.

But whatever, I love to hear input from people without any direct experience its always amusing.

    I have an NSR.

You said "CBR would drag NSR backwards".

If you want to go for a ride I'll disprove your "theories" about CBR vs NSR.

Hey - Bring your green book, I'll race you for bikes. You will lose.

How would you know what my experience is without asking?

PM me if you want to race me and lose your bike.

I'm done with this thread. Waste of time.

    Cheers and take care.

  7. If you put longer duration cams on the CBR its a whole different bike. My bike also has a higher displacement, but i think the gain is about the same as installing an aftermarket CDI and bigger carb.

Im going to start over with another CBR 150 and try a different route of modifications. Leave the displacement the same and modify everything else. Going to try a 32mm mikuni flatslide TM series carb, and work on the intake/exhaust valve tracts more this time. Im going to try splitting the intake tract into 2 channels and lengthening the tract this time, should be much more linear, flow better and provide a better vacuum for air/fuel intake.

Dont get me wrong, the current modifications are kickass, but there's always more than one way to skin a cat. This CBR chews up NSR's an spits them out...trust me, iv had quite a few 2 strokes :)

What <deleted>, exactly what 2 strokes have you had that was chewed up by your CBR, if it was an NSR 50 then yes, your crappy CBR would probably be quicker (marginally). If it really is the case that equivalent size 2 stroke and four stroke engines have around the same power (as you seem to be suggesting) then why did they pit 250 2 smokes against 500 4 strokes in moto GP, why didn't they just contact you to get their 4 strokes running as quick as the 2's, prick.

Who's a prick? and for what?

the CBR 150 has 14 hp x 13nm of torque =182 total power

    the NSR 150 has 37 hp x 2nm of torque = 74 total power

if you had a tug of war between the 2 bikes the CBR would drag it backwards.

Since the NSR is a faster reving bike it would beat the stock CBR - Thats why you use the CBR's torque to its advantage and modify accordingly since it will never rev as fast as a 2 stroke.

    You feeeling me?

and to answer your question about the motoGP, ever see them start? they usually crawl until the revs build up. Modify a 2 stroke and its like the bike is smoking crack rock.

Meet me with your CBR and we'll see if my NSR can 'keep up' - from a standing start, even!

Your calculation of total power is meaningless, just words.

Mototgp bikes crawl off the start ? Have you ever ridden one? Do you ride on the track here?

And you want us to trust you...sure!

Another thread that degraded into a pissing contest!

  8. Im in the US now and I calculated that in Thailand, protein powder costs FOUR times as much for an inferior brand, and creatine 3x as much.

Im bringing in 2 ten pound bags of protein, 2kg container creatine, and 3 to 6 bottles of vitamins.

    but, it won't last forever.

why can't someone sell quality stuff for a decent price in Thailand?

why can't a company set up a distributor in SE asia?

    Oh well.

  9. The Yamaha Xmax 250cc is not build in the ASEAN region so it's not open for ZERO import TAX. Probably we can expect more lower then 250cc motorcycles from China... That for sure...

just read a news clip where 2 motoGP riders visit Thailand and introduced the new 150cc nuovo - but i can't find news about it anywhere else..

  10. You mean starting a thread where is only written what the readers like to hear.I thought the use of a forum was to start a discussion of the pro's and contra's fronm a certain subject.Clearly you are not from the same opinion.

You don't happen to be involved in some business regarding such a product do you. :)

No I don't mean that. No, forums are not ONLY for debates, and you can see examples all over thaivisa.com.

There's forums for help on where to rent, etc, but this one is degenerating into a name-calling debate.

Now you're questioning a motive for starting a more "helpful" thread - that's a first.

I don't have a business selling the stuff, why would I be asking questions?

    Cheers.

  11. Do you have any idea how ridiculous it is to list cancer and heart conditions as side effects of HRT. I don't think this requires too much elaboration. Just think about it.

HRT makes a lot of people feel better. The evidence is overwhelming....but as you say, they should be careful because they may die one day.

Maybe a good idea to read this link then.Of course you gonna say it is not true but maybe take notice that the url ends on .gov.Maybe a bit more credible then most of those juice selling sites.

can someone start a new thread for people who are interested in the positive effects of HRT and have useful questions/answers instead of a "fight club" thread?

Then the haters can continue on in this forum with their vast knowledge ....

  12. why would anyone want a d-tracker 125 when the 250 is the same size physically, and probably a similar price?

    Erm..

    3/4 size v full size..

    82k - 86k v 15xk ??

Ill try some of what your smoking..

I believe jbeck is trying to say 83,000 Baht + 40,000 Baht = 123,000 Baht

I don't know how much experience you have riding a motorcycle with 10 horspower, but I believe - especially if the bike looks a bit sporty like the two Kawasaki's - you quickly start to think about improving performance...

My Bad. I thought the bikes were basically identical except for engine size.

Does the 125 not have (standard) 17" wheels?

  13. You obviously know far too much about this Tropo. Rather than discussing the cost, tell the man what it does.

If you're going to play around with injectables for HRT, you can never know too much. Jessy nailed it in a post above. With HRT you're seeking to normalize dwindling testosterone production as you age...it's as simple as that.

I have no idea why anyone is asking about injectables for HRT. A much better and safer, although more expensive option is Andriol Testacaps. It's a very mild form of testosterone supplemenation delivered through the lymphatic system (bypasses the liver) which will have very little to no effect (depending on dose) on the HPTA (the bodies own testosterone production). What this means is that if a person discontinues using them, they still have all of their own natural production to fall back on. If a person injects testosterone (Sustanon etc), their own production will cease and the testicles will shrink due to non-use.

When using Andiol Testracaps there will also be no conversion of excess testerone to estrogen as is usually the case with injectables...mainly because the dose is so mild that there will not be any excess testosterone left in the system. When one injects 250 mg of testerone, there is an immediate surplus of testerone which will shut down the person's own production and start converting to estrogen. This will possibly lead to fat gain, gynecomastia (growth of breast tissue) and other feminizing characteristics.

These can be bought over the counter in Thailand and 1 or 2 caps per day is usually enough. The best price in Thailand is 13.3 baht per cap, so that would be 26.6 baht per day for an average dose. IMO this is the perfect solution to HRT and very safe.

What is a TYPICAL dose of Testoviron Depot for HRT? (no guessing please!)

How does a single injection of 1ml (250mg) compare to Andriol Testocaps : how many caps would be required for an equal raise in T blood serum level.

(again - no guessing!) If you don't know, that's okay!

And yes I will see dr oliver, but right now I am seeking specific info

    thanks

    thanks in advance

  14. Go to the gt-rider.com website and ask your questions. There are countless dirt roads up north around Pai in all directions. I think Mr. GT-Rider has got a new edition of his Mae Hong Song Loop map out there for sale as a starting point. And if you enjoy being off the pavement then forget about getting to Pai through Mae Tang on the tedious Hwy 1095 and head up to Wat Chan through Samoeng and then down into Pai.

Indeed, if this is off-road, then there are still countless tracks.

Well are there many areas to ride within easy reach of Chiang Mai old city as well?

Anyone out there willing to show me some of the closer ones?

    thanks,

    Jbeck

  15. This is my friend Peter from Switzerland. Old fellow with many experiances. He also makes the very good hammocks. Last week only his staff was in the shop in the walking street in Pai, so I didn´t met him this year yet. But I´m pretty sure, he´s still in business. Still rides the old KDX 200 and he knows every track around Pai. But indeed, the most old fantastic dirt tracks are now big dusty roads with no fun anymore. Offcourse there are several single tracks in Huay nam dang, but not so many than a few years ago. Are U a new citizien in Pai? We are nearly every month in that area. www.off-roadtours.de

    Hi,

Well I can't read the website because it is not in english, is there a name and phone number of a person I can call in Pai or Thailand?

    Thanks.

  16. You could try to do a sprocket & chain conversion..

The change in pick up would be significant

IMO Cheapest / safest mod to protect the integrity of the engine.

    I would get an X1R

    Sure you could try! OMG!

I hope the original poster CAREFULLY considers the advice on this forum!

Cheap and safe to convert a CVT bike to a chain and sprocket?

How about designing and machining all the custom parts, the cost, and will you throw away the entire transmission box that the rear wheel is attached to?

Honestly this is totally ridiculous. :)

AND The OP was only asking about getting a little more power out of an airblade!

  17. I have questions about riding in the area surrounding Pai.

I want to ride trails and ride offroad.

I'd like to get in touch with dirt riders that live there, or that have first hand information, that can answer some simple questions about living/riding there.

Please let me know if you can help and I'll PM you.

    thanks,

    jbeck

  18. Just to add: If you do buy any aftermarket parts such as an exhaust system then check it is stamped as road legal. It should have a round emblem embossed in the metal. It is I suppose the equivalent of the TUV stamp in Europe.

A farang with an aftermarket pipe is worth at least 1000 baht to the cops. "Too Noisy!". However when you point at the stamp on the exhaust there is much satisfaction to be gained from watching their face drop. Which is usually short lived unless you have an International Driving License handy.

A little more realistically, this is dependent on the province . . .and the cop.

Are you trying to scare the OP?

I don't have any stamp on my aftermarket exhaust and have never had a ticket with my airblade, in 7 months driving in Chiang Mai town..

It is pretty loud, but only when throttle is wide open.

I've even gotten a ticket for no helmet, but no mention about the exhaust.

Aftermarket pipes in Thailand: NMF, Endurance, DBS, have no such " stamped as road legal" -at least I've never seen one.

I have seen stock exhaust muffler outer chrome "covers" welded OVER stainless steel aftermarket exhausts.

A sonic muffler is a good example.

Saving weight (realistically- on a street legal bike) can NOT give you the same performance as a bigger piston, pipe, cam, carb, and CDI.

Other than the pipe, which doesn't weight 50 kilos BTW, there's not much to take off to save weight.

And what if you ride with a passenger? Or you weigh alot?

If you want a faster bike, a pipe alone will mostly only make it louder, really. You need more.

For an airblade/click (same engine) there's a limit to the piston size if you dont want to bore the cases - you can NOT do a 170cc motor by modifying the top end alone. And it wouldn't work without a bigger carb, pipe, and the stock CDI limits the top speed as well.

I hope there's no more posts about that miata!

I notice you have fitted an aftermarket gearchanger

can you please tell me what make/ model it is, where you bought it from, the price

and did you have to modify anything to make it fit.

same info for the adjustable clutch and brake levers if you would be so kind.

nui rearsets from akunar.com - i i didnt modify anything but - the kickstarter hits the footpeg!

morin levers from (one of the many) bike shops in the bike shop area outside bangkok - patumthani?
