When you say “Brussels”, what does the city of Brussels have to do with Brexit? Or did you actually mean the EU, which Germany is a member of?
Point taken, the gifted reader though might have figured that I refer to Brussels as the head office of the EU and not in the context of being the Belgian capital.- 1

Is that what do you say to your wife in case do divorce? "Shut up woman, this is my divorce and you don't have right to say anything!"
Yeah, we don't really need your kind of people in the EU.
Well, to start with, I am still married after 36 years.
Secondly, Britain is not getting "divorced" but terminates a political trade deal and not an emotional bond.
Thirdly the separation is from the EU and not from Germany alone - a slight difference as far as my irrelevant knowledge is concerned.
And, to please you, I am not holding an EU passport ????- 1

Merkel should concentrate on Germany and Germany only. Brexit is an UK internal decision and is linked with Brussels and not Berlin.
Merkel has plenty of unfinished and unexplained business on her own plate; clean your own house first!- 6

Another embassy with common sense; the Thais will have to rewrite their list of how to make retirees lives more difficult again ????

Wanted to fine me THB 500 for having a carryboy canopy on the back of my pick-up. These canopies need to be registered in the blue car registration book.
I told them that the canopy is registered which they did not believe. I gave 'em copies of the registration book clearly showing my statement.
Then they wanted to charge me with not having the original car registration book with me in the car. Upon asking to see the original instruction showing that not having the book would cost THB 400 the guy in dark sun glasses and mouth mask just walked away. I took a photo of him on which the number on his helmet was visible; he turned around, took my phone away and deleted the photo without asking. Gave me my phone back and walked away.
Beware of these highway robbers; I meanwhile can turn my dashboard camera inside the car to face the driver's window/seat and before they come and ask I tell them that I am recording. Works absolute wonders, trust me!- 2

Evisa, so cannot extend. We are also on bikes and just got our India visas which for some reason start when you get them, not when you arrive.
Well, then leave and re-enter; the rules are written by the host country and not by the visitors! -
Is Uthai Thani known for its meatball factories? The Laotians, Cambodian and Vietnamese would be delighted ..........

To save money, move Thailand into the 21st century and facilitate life for everybody maybe an alternative would be to do away completely with this 90-days nonsense, rent out the existing facilities to McDonalds or another fast foodie - everybody happy!

I am a very frequent flyer domestically here in Thailand and I would advocate an absolute strict enforcement of the one piece at max. seven kilos allowance.
I travel always with a very small backpack and more than once had problems putting it into the overhead lockers. I told the crew which said there is little they can do.
Trust me, once you put a scale on the head of the finger dock and charge THB 1'000 per additional piece as well as THB 100 per kilogramme exceeding the limit of seven kilos the skies will be cleared within two, three weeks.
Would facilitate boarding, departure as well as disembarkation and put some extra revenue into those low cost carriers coffers ..........
Sick and tired of Tom, Dick and Harry with Grannies and Aunties flying around with air-dried fish from Kalasin or baskets of fruits which would be available at destination as well.- 3

Google the subject and you'll see that the first 90 days are USD 3/day, after which it increases to USD 5/daily. Wondering though why you dont get a visa extension like anyone else?

Out of curiosity; how do you check-in 500 kgs of anything onto a flight to Australia without being noticed? Assumingly it was brought as excess luggage it must have cost fortune as the fee is 1% of the single first class tariff. Just wondering ..............

I do not get it. Those visa runners spending THB 30K/monthly were numbered earlier on with 900'000. This would amount to THB 324 billion yearly proving that almost one billion Baht daily would come from this tourism segment.
The Chinese arguably are the worst tourists Thailand ever had so maybe, maybe, some clowns at the TAT-circus now realized that they've been shooting themselves into their own foot!- 1

DNow how nice and easy under the umbrella of ASEAN and AEC2015. All this is a load of bull...
A Thai-plated car into Myanmar takes 3½ hours at Mae Sot/Myawaddy, given that all the paperwork has been pre-filed in Yangon, a licensed guide and pilot car is at the border to accompany you and the mandatory minder of the Myanmar Hotel & Tourism sits in as well.
A Thai-plated car into Laos needs an International Transport Permit (violet booklet) issued by the Department of Land Transport and valid for one year. This, together with TM2 (in duplicate), TM3 and TM4 (being Information of Conveyance in duplicate, passenger list and crew list) needs to presented to immigration; then the Thai customs will do a „temporary import permit (for export that is, but it is the import form) which states with a red rubber stamp on the lower left corner, that if you do not return with your Thai-plated car within one month, then you will be fined THB 1‘000/day but not more than THB 10‘000). Upon all this you are leaving Thailand; the Lao side will issue a Laissez-Passer in green in duplicate stating the point of entry and exit - valid for as long as your visa is valid. Beware here, as if you leave Laos through a different border post than the entry point then you either state that upon arrival in Laos or go for „leave through any point“. Failure to do so results in you going back to the point of entry. Enter opposite Ubol Ratchathanee and leaving back into Chiang Rai province can go sour and you do the entire 2‘500kms trip back just to please the bureaucrats.
A Thai-plated car into Cambodia is doing that, legally speaking, illegally as you would have to pre-apply for a permit from the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Finance (subdivision customs for tax exemption) and Ministry of Highways. Bottomline is that the Thai-plated cars remove their Thai plates and keep them inside the vehicle and depending on the border post you cross into Cambodia, you will be asked to leave the original blue car registration with the border officials.
A Thai-plated car into Vietnam - see Myanmar with the difference that you hardly get a permit for right hand driven cars and, technically speaking, you would have to pass for a Vietnamese driving license first (although a license issued by an ASEAN country is supposed to be valid in all other ASEAN countries; except Vietnam that is apparently).
All this is more than proof, oncemore again, that there are by far much too many clowns and not enough circuses. The bureaucracy to cross into all four countries legally (as I did) outweighs the endeavours of the Transamericana by far and has absolutely nothing to do with Europe, where you get your car into 5th gear in Hammersmith (Northkap) and drive through 12 European nations to Capo Sao Vicence in the Southwestern most point of Europe - in Portugal that is!- 6

Wellllllll, strict enforcement of this law means that all streetfood kitchens will have to disappear.
Good on me because I got hit twice already by passing motorbikes as the pavement was occupied by all those hygienic, law-abiding streetfood operators paying their tributes to the higher-ups. -
They did not state the year; that Terminal is used for arrivals for a year+ now already.
The taxi/bus situation is a disaster. Arriving from CNX on the first morning flight I had to wait for the flight arriving from Udon (old timetable that is) and the „taxi“ offered for THB 250 was actually a minibus for which I had to wait 130 minutes. The driver must have been paid on the speed. Wanted to get dropped off at Central downtown Pattaya; ended up getting off the van at 2nd road/South Pattaya road as he intended to go North first and then only to Central.
Never again; ever since I‘m back to Bangkok. The Udon-Utapao flight would be perfect for me but I cannot stand fools gladly and those birds at the taxi stand in Utapao are just too much.
But there again, somebody is making big money with monopoly while providing just yet another f“*ç%d-up service for which this country is known.- 2

Not knowing where you are I can confirm, that my two grown sons went through 40 hours of driving lessons in Bangkok; in two different schools close to home.
The instructors told me (that's more than 15 years back) that they would have new cars with power steering and automatic gear boxes. I insisted on the odd old pick-up outside, no power steering and a manual gear box. The boys went through 20 double lessons, the first two of them I attended as well; theory was worked in at home and they did an actual driving test (and passed).
I thought them myself how do drive off if you stop on a ramp (or on a bridge not having reached the top yet), driving backwards, parking (with water filled plastic bottles) as well as using the hand brake for certain maneuvers (like driving backwards up a parking ramp etc.).
The driving schools in Bangkok learnt something, the basic training was good once I explained them to not please the student.
Never had an accident they are responsible drivers with (meanwhile) driving skills so there is proven hope that they will pass on that to their kids ???? -
All this will end up as a perfect examples to be presented in universities lecturing on tourism promotion on how NOT to do it!
The mother-of-all-tourism-promotion-ideas, well done! -
It would help if the government could make up its mind. Mr. Puttipong Punnakanta refers to a decline of 10% over the last three months (most likely compared to last year) while the Tourism Authority of Thailands circus directors report double digit growth.
Suvannaphum airport records over the last three years period JAN-SEP a steady decline from 3.1 million via 2.2 million to 2018's figure of 1.7 million.
The total number of tourists were (according to TAT) more than 30 million, take ¾ of that and you have 22.5 million less the 3.1 million at Suvannaphum = 19.4 million. Take the entire capacity of all other international airports UTH, CEI, CNX, HKT and DMK, just to name a few then 60% must have entered overland. Overland tourist arrivals from Myanmar are negligible, Cambodia, Laos - albeit more but still irrelevant and entire rest floods in from Malaysia?

12.69 million students registered - and the bells never rang????????
The bottle neck is always on top of the bottle and trust me, the duplication amount in question is inviting enough!- 1

And once they are done please send the team to Pattaya; Mabtato Road. Last time I could not sleep during the night (i.e. every night) I counted 63 stray dogs in three packs fighting each other. And, due to the absolute stupidity of the Thai neighbours feeding the dogs, more dogs are to be expected ...........
I start to understand fellow expatriates moving to Vietnam; no dogs as they end up on the sumptuous offerings in local diners!- 3

Big Joke is practicing for the real big job cleaning Thailand from all those criminals, petty first like no driving license, drunk driving etc. and once everyone has a driving license is no longer on the bottle he will go after the big fish. His life expectancy is assumed to be somewhere between 500 - 600 years.
In all fairness, clearing Thailand from foreign slime and crime is a good thing, for Thais and the legally staying aliens alike but it makes you wonder, if he is the only working person within the police force (the immigration is under the police which is under the Ministry of Interior).- 1

Germany is a member of a 28 state union. Her concerns should be addressed internally to the EU. It remains a fact, that Germany is a part of the problem and not a part of the solution in many different ways, just to name one take immigration.
If you do not like what I "add to the debate" then overlook it or ignore it and read an "addition" which suits you better ????
