  1. Try Nilfisk-Advance. Ask for Teera or Adisawn, they speak good english. We use them world wide for all types of industrial cleaning equipment. They have consumers products as well. Their office is in the north part of Bangkok near Chatuchak.

  2. He is getting cheeky now

Hello, I took my cam and make you one more 3 pics with the bike, also for the greenbook i will need to see who i'm speaking with also i will attach the personal documents of the bike as soon as you can reply me back with your id or passport id. Thank you

Sent one back asking for his ID

This is actually funny. Keep him going for us and see how long his patience takes to run out.

  3. Let me guess, he bought it in Thailand, shipped it to Italy, and now he will ship it back to you. Since it came from Thailand it will be easy. Sound about right?

Total scam. Tell him you will transfer him the money when the bike and the book arrive. See what he says.

  4. I have the True 599 plan, its great for data but coverage is patchy so not great for voice.

AIS will have parts of BKK covered for 3G (2100mhz) in the next few months and will launch their full BKK coverage in August so expect a price war then, dont get locked into a contract in the meantime!

I truly welcome the competition. Like I said, I loved AIS phone service coverage. Never had a dropped call. The only AIS 3G I could find was right at the AIS shop on the 3rd (?) floor of Central World. I have to stay on True for 3 months before I can transfer my number to another provider. If AIS has good performance and coverage, I will consider going back.

  5. Ok, I made the jump. I was with AIS post-paid for 2 years. Never ever a problem with phone service, but I just can't stand the slow Edge. So I went to True on 3rd floor of Fortune Tower and filled out the Number Portability form, they gave me the new sim. The next day AIS called me no less than 6 times to try to convince me to stay. I told them each time that if they had 3G, I would never have considered changing. The next day, I woke up and my AIS was turned off. I put in the True sim, reset the network settings on my iPhone 4, and all was great. I will say I travel from Bangkok to Rayong/Chon Buri nearly every day. I get 3G coverage well outside of Bangkok. I get it all the way to Ban Rakat on the Bang Na Trat motorway. Then it comes back again as soon as I get to Chonburi, where the motorway comes back down to the roadway. Speeds is great. I was able to sit outside the mall/Tesco where the elevated motorway drops down and use 3G to make a Skype call to the US. Awesome! My only complaint is that my battery drains very quickly on 3G, but this is a gripe with the iPhone 4, not True service. I was worried about phone coverage, since I have heard complaints from friends, but I have not lost signal yet anywhere.

So, for now, True has a happy new customer.

  6. I used to live about 200 yards from Tesco, at Suk 50, and I loved the area for the peace and quiet (as much as you can get in BKK). I moved away about 1.5 years ago. I notice that it is changing from a somewhat quiet, not at all touristy area, to now drawing more foreigners and getting built up with buildings and retail shops. I always thought I would move back there some day, but with it becoming busier, I think I will go somewhere else. I agree that it is still a "quieter" place than lower Suk, but now it is just getting a little too busy for me.

  7. I guess I will chime in. As a dual citizen I find it difficult to separate my loyalties, nor would I want to. They are a part of who I am. I love both countries dearly, but can, easier than most, see the faults in one or the other. When speaking to a Thai, I find it easier to see the faults with Thailand, whereas the other Thai may not. And vice versa. But, holding two passports does not make me any less patriotic to one country or the other than someone who holds only one citizenship.

I find the PM's situation interesting, in that he never claimed his British citizenship, and continued to use visas to enter into the country of his birth. This to me suggests very long term planning perhaps on his and his family's part; perhaps they aspired to the post of PM all along and knew that using a British passport would be used against him in politics. I can tell you that having two passports makes my traveling life much easier. I guess if I ever run for office in Thailand I better have my arguments ready.

  8. I wonder what would Ms. Sodsiri (of EC) say if Tiger Wood give up golf and start to run for Thai PM.

Didn't Tiger refuse his Thai citizenship when offered? I thought I heard that on a trip here he was offered an opportunity to get his Thai ID card and Passport and he refused. I may be mistaken as I probably heard this from a drunkard in a seedy joint whilst spilling beer on my shoes... blink.gif

  9. Can you not use the address of the business in the shopping mall? If not, the labor department does not like the use of private homes as business addresses unless you are actually conducting your business from there. You could use a virtual office, such as Nomad at the Interchange Tower, or one of many others around Bangkok. They cost anywhere from 3000-5000 a month for the virtual office, use of their business address, and occasional use of their facilities such as meeting rooms, copy machines, etc.

  10. Apart from the risk of Salmonella in eggs, the yolks are very high in Colesterol!

I think that they ("they" being the collective hive mind that we all listen to [are brainwashed by]) have backed off warning about cholesterol in eggs. I hear more warnings of the cholesterol in shrimp now than eggs. ohmy.gif

As for salmonella, as I stated, this is more for those at risk of sickness, such as the old and very young.

I use a raw egg yolk in my jok (rice porridge) that I eat every morning.

  11. I had the same problem, sort of. The screen wouldn't come on, the power light would just blink, but it would never boot. For a couple of months, I could turn it on and off several times and then it would boot. After awhile that stopped working. Took it to the HP center on Rama and they had it for a month and could never figure it out. They said it was from the US and too new in Thailand (this was a 2 year old machine!). They tried to charge me 2000 baht for nothing. I took my computer and walked out. Took it to Panthip, they also said it was the video. Paid 2000 baht to fix it. It worked for a month. Now, it will boot up, but just all of a sudden turn off, no rebooting, just hard power loss. This is with or without the battery, which by the way will not hold 2 seconds of charge. So, my 17 inch HP is now a giant paperweight on my desk.

  12. I eat raw egg yolks almost on a daily basis here. I did also in the US. Never had a problem. I don't worry about getting sick, I am young and healthy. The sicknesses that can be passed to you from eggs are normally only a concern for children and old folks. Healthy people will show no symptoms or only mild effects.

  13. Hmmm I dont mean to doubt your ability but did you follow the step by step EXACTLY at iclarified for greenpoison? Whenever I read problems like this I always assume they are messing up a step or skipping one. Forgive me if Im way off base. I followed the tutorial and jb my iphone 4 and ipad on the latest firmware without any problems. And it took all of 5 minutes.

Actually, these things can be a little touchy based on your machine. I went thru the process 3 time. It would never complete on my Acer laptop, but went off without a hitch on my hand built desktop.

  14. The part that amuses me is that people actually buy a very expensive device that they then have to "jailbreak" like you are some knind of thief... Why not let Apple know what you think of their locked-up system by not purchasing their stuff?

I would never buy a locked product, from Apple or anybody else... Why not make the truly free choice and go for an Android based smartphone?

I jailbreak my iPhones because jailbroken, they can do so much more than an Android phone without the worry of being hacked or hijacked. Same basic premise of adding a performance chip, upgraded spark pugs, cat back exhausts, aftermarket air filters, etc in your car, or adding RAM to your PC, etc. Most of the things that we do to our possessions carry the risk of voiding warranties, but we still do it to gain much more functionality and performance out of the products that we own.

  15. Back on track, there is a very common error during the restore process, documented very well on the web. I performed this upgrade tonight and here is my experience.

    1. It took 5 hours!

    2. iPhone 4 factory unlock, 4.1

    3. I did a clean upgrade thru iTunes to 4.21, then it wouldn't upgrade because of 2 different errors, 1013 and 21. If either happens, restore it from a different computer running iTunes, then switch back to your main computer that you normally sync with and restore from your backup.

    4. It was a pain reinstalling Cydia (<deleted>, this part should have been easy right?). Cydia is not installed with greenpois0n but it has a loader that installs for you and I had to try that 4 times before it was successful.

Ok, so it is not the easiest and simplest, but it works. I have had a factory locked 3G and now a factory unlocked iPhone 4, and have done this jailbreaking process probably a dozen times. It seems to be getting a little trickier each time, meaning that it throws up more errors now than a couple of years ago. I think that this is due to the cat and mouse nature of the jailbreaking development process.

  16. OP, where did this happen? I live on the same soi as the Thonglor Police Station and use the motorcycle taxis quite often with no problems. My kids use them also, so I am interested so that I can assure the safety of my kids.

Also, you can pay the police approximately 500 baht to take a report if they are refusing to do so. But then what? There is little in the Thai law against assault. You can't have him jailed, he doesn't have money to pay. So, as I see it, you have a couple of choices. Pay the cops to talk to him. Pay someone else to "talk" to him. "Talk" to him yourself. Or just avoid him.

You are not getting help because there really isn't much you can do, not because no one wants to help you. You are not in your home country, so stop comparing Thailand to home. Once you realize that, things will be clearer to you.

  17. Thai Temples (Wats) or should I say that the monk that will be giving you the tattoo etc do not charge money. But they might just refuse you if they feel you are not meant to have one. You also cannot get one of what YOU want. They decide for you and again might refuse you if they feel you are mocking the Darma (so to speak). If you don't have a Thai or if you cannot speak Thai then don't even bother. Also they use the "hammer and needle" way BOT regular needles as someone here already posted.

If it's your first time to Thailand and you want just a "cool" tat from a Temple and know nothing about Buddhism (maybe you do) then I would forget it. It would most likely be a tat that you would not have a clue of the meaning as well unless like I said, you have a Thai friend or can spea Thai.

That said, most monks do beautiful work and you would be supprised how fast they are done.

I don't want to sound sarcastic but you cant just trot into a temple and tell them you want a tat.

You can get what you want. They have examples on the walls, you can point to the one you want. Also, there were those there, including myself, that brought examples, such as a photo. The monk looked at what I wanted, asked where, and then proceeded to tattoo me as I asked.

OP, if you go to the temple in Bangkok on OnNut Soi 29 there is a ajarn that will sell you the tattooing needle for a donation of 1000-2000 baht. You can then sterilize it for use later. Also, you could request bamboo needles, since these are not re-used normally.

  18. Let me elaborate little better on the amount of donation.

When one goes to temple and wants to be blessed by a monk(water splash and a small pray), one must bring a basket(donation) the cheapest one is 100 baht. This blessing takes approx 30-45 seconds and one first gives the donation.

So if for 1 min the donation is 100 baht, for an hour donation would be around 600+

Angelina Jolie paid around 10 000 baht for her tattoo, right now if you want same from the same guy it will cost 30 000.

But this is commercial price, so for donation for same size tattoo from a monk the correct amount would be 2000-3000

Now this is a load of nonsense.

I paid 600 baht for my first one, and that was actually too much.

For my second one I paid 400 baht, I gave them a 500 baht note and they gave me 100 change.

I refused the change, but they really wanted me to have it, so i took it back.

And yes, they are of really good quality.

First one took 1,5 hours, second one took 1 hour.

    My 2 cents (or satang)

You both were "overcharged" and given falang prices. There is no cost for the tattoo, and no set price for a donation. It is "up to you" what you want to donate. At Wat Bang Phra, I donated what everyone else was donating at the time, which was a pack of cigarettes, incense, and a small bundle of flowers that we purchased just outside. Total cost, 40 baht. No one there donated more than 60 baht.

  19. Ok, so I went to Amorn, and they weren't very helpful. They told me to buy a new jack and they would install it for me. They pointed me to their parts store next door. They didn't have just the jack, so I looked at buying a cheap set and just having them cut the jack off and put it on mine. But, they didn't have one with the correct number of wires; mine have four wires. So I gave up on them. I will try Pantip Plaza and follow the suggestion posted and see if they can help me. I will let you know how that goes.

  20. I read a post awhile back about a place that repairs the cable/jacks on earphones somewhere in Pantip, but I can't find the thread again. I have a very nice pair of earphones and the jack at the end that connects to my iPhone has been ripped off. The cable is fine and the in-ear earbuds are fine, but I need a new jack. I have tried myself and I just can't get it to work.

Does anyone know where this place is? I even tried walking around Pantip and asking and no one seems to know. They of course just wanted to sell me a new pair. I paid over 4000 baht for this pair, and would like to repair it if possible. I don't care where in Bangkok or even Pattaya, as long as they can repair it. It has an inline button to skip/pause songs, but no microphone.

    Thanks for any help.
