The aisles of Silly ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isles_of_Scilly
Had a fascination with that place since I saw it on a gardening program - of all things - many years ago. The idea of being able to grow plants from the subtropics outdoors anywhere in the UK just tickled me in strange places. The plant life reminds me of New Zealand - green and attractive if not the same as the tropical species we take for granted here in central Thailand.
now THAT has made me giggle ................ delightful !

it was post #3 from n210mp that had me giggling so I have to ask .................. which islands were they then?

Our Na Jomtien beach front condos got winds from the west or south west every day in the afternoon from about 1.00pm onwards. Simply glorious sitting by the 7/F rooftop infinity pool - luxury condo with breezes still available at about B11m too !!

does anyone know if this will be on a Thai channel ? Last week the M'chter derby was on #42 but seems always to be different. Thks

I had a Thai girlfriend in the UK she did not gamble ,my now wife has never gambled , a Thai girl who once worked for me spent every penny in the casino back in the UK ,i believe it is all mainly down to upbringing . i once lost 10 pounds gambling ,i was a broken man ,never again
I went to the Stardust (now just dust) in Las Vegas and spent 25 cents on a machine. Lost it, so stopped as I was on a losing streak. At least I can say I've gambled in Vegas.
me too, but I lost a whole $1 .................. never again, like you

I have found the several large shops on east side of Suk both north and south of Chaiyapruk most acceptable in this regard.

useful replies as I was always convinced these guys were paid to string the new lines but not paid to remove the old ones.

no thrills? how boring. Now if there's frills ............... sounds much better

but people may be going home from or indeed coming back to so a lot depends on other issues.

no question that northbound may be better or even worse than on the 15th but for sure southbound on the 12th will not improve nor worsen. The afternoon on the rainy 15th will be quite clear, despite the recorded haze & smog.
Eastbound might be OK in the mornings of most weekdays but most probably not. Westbound monitored on the 16th will have improved by the 19th
Hope this helps with your planning
You're welcome

many thanks for prompt comprehensive reply

Thread can be closed now Mr Mods - thanks

I have been told to go to Western Union in Pattaya and collect transferred funds. I have the 2 required names and a reference number.
Not having used this service before what's the procedure please and where's the best office to go (I note there are several 'booths' listed)
Thanks

the situation definitely has worsened since I posted this 4 months ago. And it's not just the new tunnel roadworks.to blame. Here on the darkside coaches just park at night wherever and at their will. And as the other thread states small sois are smothered.
A major major problem and it's growing sadly.
Could TV (or any other organisation) be a conduit for comments to the Mayor or other local authorities? Any suggestions?

sensible advice & well noted - thanks

but this time not for a car.
I want to spray some decent but oldish wooden furniture (eg TV cabinet etc). Could do it myself but could take ages. I expect car shops could do (and any such recommendations appreciated) but any other suggestions please?
-
try the better wood shops in Theppasit - good selections from both Wood R Us and MaiThai
FYI - a few years ago I bought 2 patio sets from Homepro and they too fell apart ("it's the way you used them" was the response) . After emailing all the Board I immediately got 50% back and not a credit either!

Friends don't ask friends for help moving.
I've used Crown and they were great.
Same here, expensive but no issues at all!
Companies that have well trained staff, quality equipment, good customer service and insurance are generally worth more than companies that do not.
I guess it comes down to what one is moving and what it's worth to them.
stating the obvious but your final comment is correct ..... what is the stuff worth (value-wise or just personal/sentimental value) and that will determine what you will pay methinks

We've used Asian Tigers twice in 6 years and absolutely no complaints at all

so what was the result Ms Pattaya Girl? Often disappointing not to know the outcome after people have bothered to reply.

I am slightly older than my father-in-law. Who should wai?

shoulders are Dr Pratya's speciality and he's done both mine (rotator cuff, tendons and bone degeneration issues; keyhole surgery etc) in BPH. Excellent English too

This morning they were calling out the numbers from the 90day desk, which is now over on the other side of the room and has become desk number 3. Took me around 15 minutes this morning with ten numbers in front, so not so bad.
............... and who says Pattaya Immigration Officers don't read TV observations !
-
I went there yesterday to do a 90 day report. It took longer than usual as they now seem to be entering everyone who wasn't already on it into their computer system. So I came away after 15 minutes with a bar-coded reporting slip in my passport and she gave me back all the usual documents I had taken with me. Hopefully this means that in future it will be even quicker and simpler with no more photocopies required.
They are still calling numbers out via a quietish PA system near the entrance, so that if there's much noise near you like a baby crying or people yakking into their cell phones then it's difficult to hear. Add to that the fact that a lot of the people doing 90 day reports are quite elderly and their hearing is often well past its best and they really do need to sort out the display boards again.
I also went yesterday (0820) and it took 55 minutes - just 2 Officers for 90 day service and one gentleman at counter 9 doing absolutely zilch (except choosing lottery tickets and drinking 2 mugs of something) for those 55 minutes.
Last time I was in & out in about 1 minute.
I wont hold my breath in June

I've been looking for 45 sandals (size 11 UK) and very little choice even in Central. FINDIG had 2 of that size but both poor design & quality. Had to resort to a friend bringing some from UK in a few weeks. I feel sure BKK would have a good choice though

ThaiBob's got it right ....................... just open your eyes and actually see when you are strolling around. NickJ has a very good local 7/11 too
