You sir are 100% correct on that! I love being retired here but this farce makes me wonder and lose respect at the same time.Hun Sen appointed his son to replace him.

What is it that attracts us westerners to these banana republics?

August 29, 2023 - 2:40 PM. Superintendent Lt. Col. Panya Damlek led a joint operation with Capt. Suwijak Reungnawadee, Deputy Chief of Police; Capt. Chanat Tantat, Deputy Chief of Tourist Police; and a team of over 30 officers to raid a lavish pool villa party in Soi 4, Sattahip, Chonburi.

The operation was initiated following multiple complaints about a group of teenagers blocking traffic, blasting music, and indulging in reckless behavior, reported Siam Rath.
Upon searching the villa's premises and the roadside, 23 luxury cars were found. Inside the villa, 52 teenagers, comprising 29 males and 23 females, were caught engaging in boisterous activities including high-stakes gambling, drug use, and DJ-hosted parties.

Doubt she will get anything better than King Power.
My wife quit from a Japanese company 1 year ago thinking it would be easy for her. She changed 2 jobs with a lower salary. Only by pure luck because I told her to put her resume on LinkedIn did she get hired remotely by US company 5 months ago. But even then although the salary is higher, all the benefits like healthcare and provident fund are gone.
I know King Power has both because one of her friends works there.
Yes, I'm not knocking KP she's done well by them. Pre - covid they promoted her to Supervisor.( Pattaya) After CV they hired a ton of new employees anticipating pre CV sales which never materialized.Even her manager suggested things were not looking good and if she had the opportunity to move on to take it.
She's just testing the waters at this stage. She went to uni in BKK and has some valuable contacts there who have keeping her informed of any good jobs there.

Demand is clearly not what it was for Thai tourism. The causes for this need to be researched and understood, not simply pulled out your <deleted> or imagined by the elite. Saying I want more Indians to come, or like Thaksin (everybody's favourite politician) used to say, he wants wealthy tourists. You have to do more than 'want' something to happen. You have to make it happen.
Now I'm no expert at all in tourism, but I have been to many tourist hot spots and wouldn't dream of going back because of reasons we are all familiar with, like getting ripped off, dirty hotel rooms, poor local transport, dirty sea water, hawkers on the beach etc etc. but do some research and see if staff training, for example, could improve the tourists' experience of Thailand for is it really 'they would love to come but don't have the money'?
My step daughter works at King Power and she tells me sales are way way down. Previously busloads of Chinese would arrive and some were good spenders. Not any more. These times they are juggling staff and inventory . It appears they bet everything to remain the same. She is now looking for another job and she's been there a while.

I'm sure his recovery will preceed much quicker in the confines of his family compound.

The vast majority of immigrants to Western countries are neither talented nor bright. Anyone claiming this is very far removed from reality.
For example Canada is currently being flooded with Africans claiming to being persecuted because they are gay. Some end up on the streets because there is no housing for them all. <deleted> situation for them and the generous taxpayers. A very basic IQ ( barely literate) is what they offer.

Unless you needed to travel there was no coercion to be vaccinated in Thailand "as a Farang". I had no problems at all remaining unvaccinated. I did consider the possibility that they might force foreigners to be vaccinated in order to get visa extensions, but there was no reason to rush to it.
We couldn't discuss the science on here or anywhere, because if we did, we would have been labelled conspiracy nuts, but there was plenty of good information available online if you had opened your mind to the possibility that vaccinations were not necessarily a good idea.
Thanks very much I apprecite your response.

Yes as a farang I also rolled up my sleeves for 2 shots. They made it so easy and I was lead to believe that I wouldn't be able to renew my 1 year visa unless I submitted.I call it coercion. No more injections for this fellow knowing what I do do now.
How many high up politicians/VIP,s have you heard of having side effects from this poison? Few and far between because they got saline or nothing.

I just renewed mine in March. All you need to do is get online and and follow the instructions.
You'll need all the regular docs etc. I didn't even have to go to BKK this time. They mailed it to me within about 2 weeks.Quite easy.

What I don't get are those who hold on as tightly as possible to a body in decay, like it's some kind of trophy, as well as their wealth: "He with the most toys at death wins." Actually not. He with the most toys at death probably will suffer immensely as they can't take all of that "stuff" with them.
So - yeah. People our age should dwell on the eventually of death, kindle acceptance, and enjoy the moments we have left whether you believe there in Heaven/Hell, rebirth, or annihilation. It matters not in the here and now - Live for the moment.Good points.I'm 72 + and have assumed a policy of "giving while living".I inherited a few bob a couple years ago and bought the Mrs a new car, Gave some some to SIL family to upgrade their house. Took Mrs on a vacay to Vietnam and bought some gold bars. I felt all the better for it. A buddy of mine spent several years waiting for his dad to pass so he could inherit the loot.I felt sorry for him to be so small. I somehow feel its sort of my duty to pass on any wealth to benefit my immediate family. And no, I was not coerced into that.I survived "C" and they we there for me when I needed them most.

Correct you are.I contribute 100% of my pension income to the Thai economy each year circa 1 mil. baht.
If they close the door here I'll be going direct to Cambodia for sure.
I've already done a lot of research on the Visa subject you've nailed it.
The only decision to be made is which area to live in? I've traveled around there a fair bit and liked Battambang and Siem Reap.
