About 10 days ago I put up a news item that the Canadian government had just issued.  They are now recording details of persons leaving Canada in order to try to cut back on the number of claims that people make about their CPP and OAS.  They are aware that many Canadians leave the country and stay

out longer than the prescribed allowed time, i.e. six months a year, and still collect their benefits.  This is being done at all ports of exit with very few exceptions.  They are obtaining details about people leaving by plane, train, car, bus, and ship and one of the main focus points is the date and time of leaving.  When a person returns, that is then matched with the person's details of leaving the country.  No mention was made as to whether Canadian Embassies are involved in the data collection.

My original posting was just a heads up to Canadians to let them know what is happening.

    'nuf sed.

I heard about this last year. I have now applied for and was granted non-resident status. With that all my Canadian source income is now subject to the 25% withholding tax. However there is a form NR 5 that enables you to have that reduced after the first year.Dave

  2. Here's one for Ubon Joe. You seem very well up to date.

I need some clarification. Because of the poor exchange rate for the CDN $ my monthly pension only amounts to 56,000 baht as opposed to the required 65,000 baht.

I will arrange to have it wired to my KBank account.

I have a couple hundred thousand baht in the same bank. Does anyone know if that will be acceptable to an IO as a top up? It was accepted last year when my 800k was light at Jomtien. Options?

    Thanks

    Damn right!

Not only that we have to live there 40 years from the age of 18 in order to get a pittance of a pension that hardly even covers the electric bills in winter time.

Canada should clean its own house before doing anything else for others. I heard that we have our own migrant crisis but that it is never in the news...

Coming from an angry Canadian... BS country

Half the Canadians I speak to have never heard of Roxham Rd. which is wide open to anyone who can make their way across the ditch to claim asylum form NY state. As a bonus the RCMP will help you with your bags. watch this....

Welcome to the country of unlimited benefits for life.Unqualified Muslims most welcome. This is not the Canada I grew up in!

Heres another UN mandated initiative that Trudeau will be signing on Dec 10-11 so hang on to your hats when this kicks in.

The MSM in Canada does not inform anyone about this coming forward.

It would be expecting too much from such reporters to find that there is no first class on this flight

I think they changed planes from a 777 to a 747...747 has 1st class 777 doesn't.Its quite probable that some business class passengers were upgraded to 1st for that flight. Just like another TV respondent said.." if it was me the plane would still be on the tarmac...lol

Standing on the hook, hands on the pulley, people sitting under the back of the crane, most wearing runners....an HSE officer could have a field day....if there was one there!!

I'm a retired HSE Officer "offshore" and spotted half a dozen "Stop Card" infractions in less than a minute.
