  1. Hmmm....I was always of the understanding that yuung were sensitive and attracted by living carbon dioxide, less colour - as this variety of culicidae have poor to limited optical abilities. Their keen senses are derived from olfaction abilities.

Yeah stick some dry ice in a tin outside your room would be better

  2. Last year the owner of the villa I am in came over for a visit. He has an account with this bank. He went into the branch to set up internet banking so he can transfer money for repairs and upkeep. Whilst doing this the manager asked to see him. Thinking he wanted to try and sell him something he went to his office. The manager then asked if the owner could lend him 10 million baht for a month or two as they were having a small cash flow problem. Only in Thailand would the bank ask you for a loan

What was the name of the Bar where this story was told ? And were there any aliens who ordered strange drinks ?

Actually I know the people concerned and 10 million would not be a lot to this guy, the house alone is up for sale at about 30 mill and he planned to build more, so not everything is "bar talk"

You might live in a bar not everyone else does.

  3. "Which" magazine U.K just voted the Jazz best small hatch ahead of Ford Fiesta and all the others.

UK specs very different on both models. Many foreign tests are not comparable with thai spec and price cars

I was trying to show an unbiased view form a large survey rathe than a few ex pats, the cars are now MORE expensive in Thailand for me due to exchange rates.

I doubt the Fietsa will even get near Honda for reliability, I think the Fiesta is pwettier and probably rides better but I still chose the Jazz.

Anyway its the Op's choice and none of them are "rubbish" cars

  4. who would respond to it in a language other than English??

Someone who understands a bit about Thailand, and has been intelligent enough to have a Thai employed to communicate with local Thai business.

It's really quite a simple concept.

I want to buy fridge from a Thai company with an English/Thai website and ????????? or is that not the kind of "business" you had in mind?

  5. How many responses would an email written in Thai get from Western companies in the West?

Learn Thai, or at the very <deleted> least have a Thai PA if you're doing business here, in order to contact Thai companies you're looking to deal with. It's simple common sense of the lowest level.

And the international language of business is?????? Thai??????

If you don't agree that people doing business here should learn Thai or have a Thai PA to communicate and correspond with Thai businesses here, then I feel you haven't been here very long.

84 years 3 months 12 days 18minutes and 54 no 55 no 56 seconds does that help?

  6. A friend of mine works for Williams racing in the UK, sometimes they outsource parts being made to Japan and when they come back they test them against parts they have made at Williams. 7. Ill bite too, we bought the jazz because it was a hatchback. That was what was needed for the dogs. A city or a vios just would not do even though they would look more manly. (according to chunky)

But maybe chunky is the kind of guy who sees a car as an enlargement of his penis and needs it because he is so small and in masculine.

I just drive the car that was in my price range and does what it has to do. I don't need a car to make me look more like a man.

*note.. if the wife ever puts any of those hello kitty things there i would personally kill her and use the jazz to dump her body :D *

We got the sv jazz 18 months ago great little car, cheap to run, Honda reliability voted best small hatch recently in the uk by "Which" magazine and that was up against the new Fiesta too.Versatile seating etc etc

Please Rob tell me you didnt get the blue too???

You could always put a stooopid dusbin size exhaust on it if you really wanted to look a Tw**!!

  8. Well first of all shipping out anymore than US$ 10,000 a time will flag the system, so you will be under scrutiny, so it would need to come out in batches to get round that one.

Any form of electronic transfer will have a paper chase and is therefore traceable, but it all depends if HMRS are interested, taking out in small batch may not raise any interest.

Suppose the certain way is to draw it out in the UK and hand carry, that way it will "disappear"

Uk limit to carry thru without declaring is €10000 and as the exchange rate is quite low now thats about £8500.

I have often carried more and just kept quiet, no problems yet in 5 years.

You can carry any mount but over €10000 you have to declare it and prove where it came from. Ill mule it over or you for £200 a time ahhahahaha i come twice a year at least.

  10. It is common sense really. I wrote a business plan for a VP of a large IT company. She was estimating growth at 15% a year.

I also write her sales emails to potential customers who speak English. I also look at their answers and questions and proof her responses.

There is a lot of business opportunities in Thailand doing business with foreign companies.

Thailand is a rental economy because they can’t do much technical themselves. Hence the airport or transit systems in Bangkok are done by foreign firms.

Some day when Thailand develops the expertise to build things like cars and airplanes and basic infrastructure they may not need to rent overseas people.

For now with little local technical know how they better learn to respond to their emails if they want to get ahead in the international business community.

It is just common sense really.

    Thailand and common sense ????

  11. bit harsh Stander, surely there must be a few good ones out there.

I think it's best to be harsh when this much money and your home is on the table, my dad told me the same when he had his done, avoid all farang dev's at all costs.

The building trade in ANY country is like this............ think not?? you want to see the cowboy builders in the UK in fact hey have programmes on them naming and shaming but they just close one company down and start another, its not JUST Thailand and NOT just Farang developers THAIS are as happy to rip you off as Farangs, do some homework on "who" you choose it will save you problems later. People are people everywhere.

  12. Came out of the dental hospital once numbed from a lengthy drilling session and the car park attendant directed right into a concrete pillar that dented in the front wing. No apology - just a sheepish smile. Without the whistles in their mouths they are worse because they shout incomprehensibly. Another favorite memory is the Carrefour guard who directed the traffic into complete gridlock outside the store allowing cars to turn right simultaneously from opposite directions. Laughed like a drain for the 10 minutes it took for drivers to extricate themselves from the mess.

On the other hand most of them mean well, do a shitty job, need the work and probably reduce theft of and from cars significantly even though they don't add much value to drivers trying to park.

I rest my case they are pretty useless in my opinion, and always stand right behind my sensors when parking, worse part is wife tells them to go and they still stand there, clueless.

  13. Perhaps your approach has become somewhat on the boring 'It's my job' routine and she is passing a silent message to do more 'Foraging' before getting down to the nity-grity , a good loving for a female starts around breakfast time and slowly simmers all day long , you need to get back to being a lover again to keep romance alive . The next time you come home you could have a surprise , twin beds LOL .

ha ha interesting but the truth is this, 1 month ago whilst I was away my wife who takes care of our condos found one of our customers dead in his room and blood everywhere, it realy shocked her and left her feeling bad for at least 2 weeks not being able to sleep etc, the man she found was naked and she said she wouldnt want to be found dead and naked in her room when Im not there so now she has started wearing her nightclothes in bed (in case she dies in her sleep), see how easy it is to get the wrong end of the stick? :D

  14. My wife before we married slept with clothes on, when we married she stopped wearing clothes and went naked 4 years ago, in the last month she has started wearing clothes again what does it mean Mark?

Im only there twice a year for 3 months a time and am not currently there (Thailand)

  15. There were surveys done about this decades ago, your observations certainly match them..

You mean I'm right? There really is a non verbal almost like a lie detector test to measure your Thai woman's feelings toward you?

That should be headline news in the Pattaya Newspapers.

It all depends how you sleep. In a proper bed in an air conditioned room you're probably right but on the ground with fan only there's not much cuddling going on except during cool season.

You are correct. We sleep at night with the AC on in a proper bed.

Are you sure your wife is Thai ? mine could never sleep with the aircon on she has to be under a sheet or she'll die of cold.
