  1. "Public Health Ministry, asking for a ban of alcohol sale at train stations and on the train.
The network said that this should help reduce sexual harassment, fighting and disturbance caused by the drunk."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And increase the nearest 7-11 sales by 300% & the vendors who jump on the trains by 400%

Wouldn't a better idea be to just ban drinking alcohol while on any public transport---------------

  2. .

Wow a welfare system in Thailand----Then we couldn’t take advantage of all the unmarried mothers etc that have to sell their bodies to us old men.

Hell no we don’t want no welfare for Thailand.-----------------------------------------------------w00t.gif

How many people in Thailand are on the welfare system from their own country ?? One of the first welfare acts (I am referring to the UK and commonwealth here) was the old age pension act 1908 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welfare_state.

Now many people may rant that they have paid for all that----well you won’t know that until you stop ticking----but you won’t have to worry about it----& isn’t that what welfare is all about.

There are thieves out there---some with guns, some with Biro's.......do you scrap the whole system because of that-----or work to improve its detection methods to eradicate those people

  3. A myth that Thai women prefer older men the same as the myth they prefer farang.

If you are old, do you really think your younger gf/wife will tell you the truth?

It just happens that many Thai women will be willing to sacrifice they're own happiness and put up with the snide comments in order to take care of her family financially.

Oh My God..........................You mean its all been a Lie........w00t.gif

  4. Mike---get ahead of the crowd---go look at Ban Chang

Ban Chang---Village of Elephants, condos for that price on the water (no not across the road on the water) 30-40- minutes from Pattaya 90 minutes from BKK. Don't look at some of the over priced real estate adds---go there and look....lovely village ...walk along the empty beaches, eat with the locals there at night----you would think you were 1,000 KLms from BKK.

PM me if you want I know the area well---can tell you where to look, --your be over 1 mill but under 2mill for 2 rooms.

  5. Had it been marked "gift" there is a chance, but only a chance, that it would have gone through. The error was the £80 value. That attracted the 20% import duty.
Just like in reverse, you send to the Uk over £30 (I think it is) It also attracts duty, not exclusive to Thailand, many countries have this.
Best way is to just send standard airmail and no issues, in my experience.

Things are tighter than that MJ....when I travel to the UK (3 months ago) I get a company in the USA to send me some vitamins melatonin which are not sold both here or in the UK...... my order came to £29.95

this is part of the letter received from what is now a privatized company working for the UK gov.

Invoice value  £29.95  (this included the posting fee the goods were only £19.95)

    Vat £6.84

    Entry Fee---£8***

    Total £14.84...on a £19.95 purchase

*** This is the fee the private company gets for stopping and holding each package.

Re the not paying the fee in Thailand---you do not lose the package---This has happened to me---it is returned to the poster, as it would be if they could not find the recipient.  You would possibly get away with a gift item in the UK.

  6. Would people care about another 10 quid on the ticket if they are covered for all medical insurance---some staying 3 months or more.

I would have thought that it was a no Brainer----Yes some people would, those in the employment of selling over priced travel insurance----

If this was a world wide scheme---(which ever country you go to your fully covered for 10 quid) it would probably be praised as a forward looking idea, but as it comes from Thailand, most farrangs will probably pan it.

  7. It Sounds a bargain Kevin1908---& if it pleases the wife, well why not. You can always bridge the amount Paid with your Friendly Money lender--- Khun Wonga I believe he now only charges about 3% (per month that is) if the property is worth his out lay---if not then you may have to step up the interest rate up & lend from Khun Black shirt----but what the heck its is for the wife.
