  2. Somchai.....I am guessing... He also did mine some 6 years ago , I am surprised you didn't stay overnight--that was a requirement at one time.  With Dr Somchai there is always a new lens....or something like that--but he is a good doctor, in fact they seem to have built that clinic around him.

Yes its bright after, and colours abound, I made the mistake of painting out a condo I had brought in Ban Chang at the time. Remember driving the girl in the paint shop mad as I kept trying to tone it down......"do you have that -but in an even  lighter shade"........"yes sir we call that White".

  3. Don't forget the BOGOF coupons ...my father was the BOGOF king in our council estate, I used to dread going home for visits, if I went out and brought anything and he saw the plastic bag that was it---how much did you pay for the socks.....oh no ...to much................:coffee1:

I see the motorcy rubjarngs lined up at big c for cards.

They are allowed 3 times the amount of their  salary

Sorry greenchair you would have to translate that for me..

Do you mean 300% of their monthly wage ? because you were quoting the young girl as being able to get nearly 500% of her monthly 11K wage, just by showing a wage slip.

Will have been 18 years for me here next month--I usually bring about 2 million a year in, have CCs for UK & Oz with history-- credit cards in Thailand was not an easy thing to get, I only took them for convenience of payment...Agoda/Hire car etc...because I had to have a separate account with funds in to cover that. So its not really even credit as such. Same with my wife (owned  property since she was quite young) same with my Daughters (all professionals )

I find on the CC side that the banks here seem a lot tighter than back in the west.

The short term loan culture is really quite prevalent in the west as well, with higher rates than what that girl has to pay, as I quoted 30% a month--but because its wrapped up in legitimacy it doesn't get the cover of a man in a black shirt knocking on the door.

If she has proof of salary, like a payslip, she can get a credit card. 50,000 baht. but she would still have to pay back about 5000 per month. But only 1000 would be interest. The rest would pay off the loan

Show a pay slip and get 50,000 Baht from the bank..............yer sure...do you actually live here greenchair....love to see the link your going to post for us all on that.

I recently got one of those Wonga doorstep loans with the ridiculous interest rates. I've used it to buy a new settee to hide behind on collection day....................:coffee1:

So I guess he sneaked in the UK without a visa

No not sneaked in janclass-- Just like Thailand, there are Visa's & Visa's --he can visit, & anyone can buy property, in fact there are a lot of apartments where I come from that are brought by people that have never ever been to London. Its allowed.

If you feel Wikipedia is incorrect, maybe you would like to provide a more up to date link...where he got a visa, and is now living happily in London, because that's where he wanted to live.

There is one strong reason that Taksin didn't get Asylum, & I think it will also be the reason Yingluck doesn't get. But maybe I am wrong....unlike some of the posters on here, I am not 100% sure which way it will go....lets see

I suppose all those here harping on about how bad she is and stuffed her brother's pockets with ill gotten gains from rice sales will change their minds when the UK grants asylum based on political persecution?

Err no thought no, closed minds cannot change.

So its when....not if retarius ??

Unlike you, I do not know if the UK will grant her asylum, but maybe you could point out what you feel is the difference  between herself or her brother seeking asylum . Not only no asylum for him... but (reportedly ) he lost a chunk of money tying. The result as far as the UK  is concerned is , --we do not think your even a fit enough person to own a football team in this country....let alone anything else.

The British Government Home Office, meanwhile, revoked Potjaman and Thaksin's visas due to their convictions, while the Bangkok British Embassy e-mailed airlines directing them to disallow either of them to board flights to Britain.[206] In late 2008, Arabian Business reported after an exclusive interview that the UK froze $4.2 billion of his assets in the UK. However, the UK government has not confirmed or denied this claim. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaksin_Shinawatra

She borrowers 30,000 baht of a loan shark at 20% per month interest.

Wow only 20% a month...she is lucky she is not living over in the UK  with you silentnine.

With the Government's blessing the loan sharks in the UK have reduced their interest rates to 30% a month....with additions (help from them if you get behind) it can rise to 1,509% a year.

Britain’s biggest payday loans company, Wonga, has cut the cost of borrowing to bring it into line with new rules –1% per day-- but is still able to charge an annualised interest rate with add ons of 1,509%.--https://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/dec/16/wonga-cuts-cost-borrowing-interest-rate

She was not PM any more

Then why keep saying she was....

Candide..read his bio for gods sake, this was a failed business man who was in debt when he joined the Chaing Mai police force for about 80 million baht, see the over $4 million dollars (140,million Baht) the UK government froze, well that doesn't worry him at all...he still made the Forbs list for the riches men in the world that year...... yer and he made it all on a PMs wage....didn't steal a cent from the  Thai working people.

Candide dont let your distaste for a military unelected government (rightfully so )  make you think that the people they deposed were wonderful saviours of Thailand.

POLITICAL ASYLUM:- Says More About Thailand Than TAT Ever Could.

While supposedly going to look at the 2008 Olympics he done a runner....can anyone stick to the facts here. If he was a political refugee the UK would have given him Asylum...they didn't and I unlike some blinkered Poms on here, I dont think they will give to his sister also.

Either you have this wrong...or Wikipedia has...I think I know where I would put my money.

On 7 May 2014, the Constitutional Court of Thailand removed Yingluck Shinawatra from the office of caretaker prime minister and defence minister following months of political crisis. The court found her guilty of charges of abuse of power over the removal of national security chief Thawil Pliensri in 2011--Wikipedia

  12. If....IF.. the Thai government does request that  Interpol put a warrant out for her (as reported here) I can not see the UK government granting asylum until that is sorted out.....maybe a stay until it is.

    .

But I really think the Thai Government are quite happy with the current situation.
