John I dont know if it has been mentioned, but a yellow book can obtained through someone who has a blue book, this can be a Thai who you are renting a house/condo from (although many Thais feel reluctant because they just pocket the rent--(not declare Tax) Or any Thai person who just STATES that you are living in their house/Condo etc even with them/Her--it may be a cheaper way then buying a condo. Alternatively Agents can usually open a bank account for you, or clear the way on other hurdles for a fee.

Yer we call it the Jena valve---developed by the British--- I go to the same hospital sirineou, & will probably need one in a few years---I dont know the cost but I was in that hospital 2 years ago, had to have blood transfusion 4 nights in a private room top care 3 or 4 Bags of blood ...total cost 14,000Baht....(yer thats fourteen) but thats Issan in relation to BKK/Pattaya/Phuket ...or any Falang'svile, About the choosing a Doctor --if she is going in privately , then I would have thought that you could. I had a hip replacement at Goverment hospital here Udon Thani--first move was to look/ask around about the best doctors (my wife done all the leg work there) then, they usually (up here anyway) have their own clinic which they go to evenings etc. Go see them there not at the hospital. ** Sheryl is usually correct in what she posts --but thats how I done for my last 2 opps) good luck. *Edit---We will all be interested in the pricing when/if she does have it ---please come back and update.
