  1. Small business needs a server for 5-10 computers. Would like to be able to work off the server, and some files are rather large (photoshop files 500+mb). Looking for an experienced IT person who can make hardware suggestions, install and troubleshoot, and potentially be available in the future as problems arise. Thanks for any insights.

  2. Taking my visiting sister and brother in law, and kids, around Bangkok on Fri, Sat, Sun. I usually do the aquarium at Siam Paragon (the kids love it). Would like to get outside on Saturday, maybe take a boat ride down the river? Would prefer something kids can be a part of, and nothing too high maintenance. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

  3. If you're willing to go a bit pricier, you can't beat the dinner for two at the "Rice Barn" at Four Seasons in Mae Rim. It's a bit out of town but they'll come and pick you up in the van and drop you off after. The Rice Barn is set up only for two people, they go all out with flowers on the table and an amazing multi course menu. It sits on a small pond in the middle of rice fields. The grounds there are amazing. Check out their website, the pictures are accurate. Went for my anniversary. The executive chef Ray is a good guy, does Western food or Thai. Highly recommended. Congrats.

  4. Somebody else made a request like this a few days ago. And same lack of information!

For a number like 10-12 people, in order to get help, you'll need to say how many couples / kids / rooms this equates to. Ie 12 people all in single rooms, or 12 people who can double up in 6 rooms.

Please be clearer and you will probably get an answer. Good luck.

Looks like we'll only be 10 people:

room 1: couple / one large bed

room 2: family of four (2 adults, 2 young kids) / one king size bed and one roll away bed

room 3: family of four (2 adults, 2 young kids) / one king size bed and one roll away bed

We are all one extended family, so happy to all be in the same unit if it's a villa or house. Otherwise prefer to be closeby or in adjacent rooms. Ideally a quiet area, without a big bar scene. Prefer calm seas. Don't mind driving short distance to beach. Mid range to slightly high end. Thanks again for any suggestions.

  5. Open to all options i.e. Hotel, Resort, Villa, House Rental, etc. We are traveling with kids so prefer an area that is quiet and kid friendly, with little or no "bar" scene. Okay if it's not on the ocean. Also need to have some reviews available, like at TripAdvisor.com. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Also open to other areas, Samui, Hua Hin, Khao Lak, etc.

Saw good reviews for Smile House on Rawai, but no idea what Rawai Beach is like.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  6. They have a big bouncy at the Friday night market in Mae Rim, it's on the corner of the Chiang Mai/Fang Road, and the Mae Rim/Mae Jo Road. If you're coming from Chiang Mai, just past the Summit Green Valley Golf course on the right side of the road. They rent their's out, but I don't have a number or pricing info. It's pretty big, they're there almost every Friday (rain permitting).

  7. Has anyone had any experience with real estate in the 700 Year Stadium area? I have heard that there are rentals in the area but at first look it seems like most of it is government buildings. Appreciate any insights on this area or anything nearby. Thanks.

  8. Thanks for your reply seesip.

I know about the Lanna Camp and have a friend who has trained there.I think it was about 2 years ago.He advised me not to go there because of some of the trainers attitudes. When i visited the place i also did not have the best feeling about it either.

The other place you mentioned sounds interesting, but i am staying in the city ,so that would be at least a 40 minutes drive everyday to get there and come back. And that is only if you go there once a day.But if it is really a good place it maybe worth it.Can you give me some more details about that place on Mae Rim?

How many training sessions per day? How about the cost? Have you trained there yourself?

And what about the Chai-Yai gym has no one experiences with that place?

No experience with Chai Yai gym. You can get out to Mae Rim easily by yellow truck (Rot Day San) from Chang Phuak, it's 20 baht each way. If you're in town just to train, you could consider renting a place in Mae Rim as an option.

The camp is called Phet Muen Wai, you can call him directly 087-193-3571 to ask about pricing. It's a small camp, about 6 boxers, foreigners very infrequently. The locals train a bit in the morning, but the main session is the afternoon one. It's from 5 to about 8. The training is hard, interval running at the start for about half an hour, then bag drills, pad work, sparring etc. You will definitely get your money's worth, there's not a lot of down time. If you're interested, head out there for a few days of training to see if you like it, just pay by the day while you decide. Good luck.

  9. I went by last night and give it a thumbs up. Overall it's a big plate of food, if you're a big eater you won't be disappointed. The chips are nicely cooked--definitely not typical "french fries", the fish was huge, the batter nice and crispy. They were out of cod so I had the jon dory and it was fine. They had just run out of tarter sauce for my order but made more fresh in a few minutes, so no biggie.

Regarding the size of the restaurant, it seems the same as most other places around the moat, not a big place but comfortable enough.

Service was great, the two thai ladies were super friendly and attentive.

I'll be back soon to try the cod. Hope these guys do well.

  10. Hi there !

I will be staying in Chiang mai for 2 months and i was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for a good place to train muay thai.

I am a little unsure about what place to choose.

One of the most interesting places i have looked into so far was the Chai-Yai Gym close to the Nonghoi market.

Has anyone experiences with that place or heard anything about it ?

And how about Krav-Maga ? Is there any chance of taking courses in Chiang mai?

    thanks in advance

The biggest most established gym is Lanna Boxing, you can contact Andy through their website. They've been around for a long time and have trained many pro and amateur boxers. There's a smaller gym in Mae Rim, about 20 min from central Chiang Mai if you're looking for a smaller gym with less distractions. PM if you're interested in either and I can find their phone numbers.

  11. I want to build a tepee for the kids, I have a plan and the fabric but don't know exactly where to buy the bamboo.

    Thanks :)

I just bought some bamboo fencing towards Mae Rim, they installed it for me too for a good price. The owner is Thai but spent many years in the U.S. so his English is very good if that helps. It's on the East side of the Chiang Mai / Fang road, past the outer ring road several minutes. Call them if you're interested:

    Khun Chali 087-179-6239

    Good luck.
