I see that His Lofty Highness The Marquess likes to use unusual fonts, colours, and styles that are difficult to read.

You must like the sound of your bark, to bother wasting time contributing nothing to this thread. Thanks for that, now run along, little doggy.

  2. This is a little weird, but I can't believe it's just me.

For the last couple of days, at 10am, my true adsl (512k) drops to (at most) a quarter of the usual rate. Downloads that were coming in at 56, come in at 14. Warcraft latency jumps from 400 to 2000.

Then, at about 5pm, it starts slowly getting back to normal, by 6 it's all fine again.

Today is the third day it's happened.

I don't suppose anyone has any idea what's going on?

    thanks

    neph.

  3. I need to replace my old one and have just been looking in Paragon, but I'm having trouble finding one... I want: region free, digital out and plays Divx.

That's it really. Don't want speakers, as I have a 5.1 at home already. Price isn't too much of a problem, doesn't have to be a "famous" make.

    Thanks!

  4. I have been trying all day to access newsgroups - the alt.binaries type. I am using True ADSL ut I am not sue what their news server address is or ho to properly configure in outlook. Has anyone managed to set this up?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Do true have servers? I use a paid service (usenetserver.com) and I get an excellent, consistent 56k / download rate.

  5. Anyone else?

I was playing Warcraft at about 5pm when my latency dropped over 8000 - unplayable. Web is very slow. Messenger wont sign in.

Strangely, NNTP is full speed - 56k (I'm on 512k). Everything else, sloooowww...

I know Warcraft wasnt' just me, as it happened to another True customer at the same time.

    Still bad, 5 hours later.

    Anyone else suffering?

  6. From my experience, the game and gamecards are available from one shop only! It's on the 4th floor, MBK, go up through Tokyo and turn right. There's only one "legal" game shop there anyway, and that's it.

I believe you can also find it in Phantip. Everywhere I ask for camecards, they always say "go mbk!" like it's a commonly known thing.

  7. I play on Khaz'goroth, a USA server but with Oceanic-bias (time and provided for aus / nz / SEA people). I have True ADSL 512k standard package and my usual ping is between 200 and 600ms. Which is fine for most things.

BTW, someone said to "try USA servers". Just to point out if yu have euro WoW, you cannot try USA servers, and viceversa, you need a diiferent account. What what I know, you can only get USA WoW and USA timecards here in Bangkok.

I just got Oblivion for my 360 and it's great. But it's also so incredibly openended (sp?) that it actually got to me for a few days, just not knowing what to do. But time has paid off and now I'm enjoying it :o

  8. Hi all,

We are looking to buy a diamond to have set in a ring and it's proving harder than we imagined. Some places say they'll have them in, then never get them and so on. We arn't looking for a ring, just the diamond, to our specifications.

Does anyone have any recommendations and experience of / for shops and dealers around Bangkok?

    Thanks

    neph.

  9. But well worth a look (for the aqueeriam and also for the nice food court and dept store all of which are pretty much complete).  rest of the place is a work in progress for the next 3-4 months; major brands won't get in cruz collections and jump straight to da Spring Summer in March is da plan.

Well, um, yeah. Right. Erm. Thanks for that. Whatever it's about.

To those of you who answered, thanks. It sounds a little... dissapointing. Hmm.

    To be expected, I guess.

  10. Hi everyone

Does anyone know of a messenger service that can be used as and when needed? You know, you call them up if you need to delvier something to a client and they take care of it asap.

Ideally they'd be good enough at English to get the job done, and responsible enough to actually get it done right. I'm thinking things like delivery, business mail at the postoffice, that kind of thing. The sort of thing that eats into your work time.

I don't really have the need for a full time messenger, y'see.

    thanks all

  11. I know this has been asked before, but time passes and so I thought I'd ask again.

Is anyone playing WoW? I'm looking for some people in the same time zone to hang out with. Me: lvl 10 human warrior, name Kharlas, on Cenarion Circle, USA server... be good to meet some similar levels to party with.

    cheers

  12. I've also just picked it up (here in BKK) after agreat few weeks on Guild Wars. It's very different, but very addictive. Pingtime isn't too awful, generally, but I've died a couple of times due to it.

Quite a nice game, but Quests really seem to get hard around lvl 7 - suddenly soloing isn't a good idea.

I am playing on a RP server, there are less people and those that are there seem to be a lot more friendly / less moronic kids. I guess they all hand out on the PVP servers swearing at each other :o

  13. nephilim Thanks for your replies. A follow-on question; you mention a couple of price ranges for games, one at 150b for a CD and 1,400~1,800 b. I take it the former is the kind you would play off the memory stick? But what is the latter? Is that on UMD media?

Yes, the 1400+ is for an original - USA, Jap or Euro, as new. Like you'd walked into a shop in New York and bought it. Mine have all even been shrink wrapped as well. These are of course, legal.

The 150B is a cd with a .iso on. Obviously you need to get these onto a memstick to play. These are, obviously, not legal.

  14. US PSP is not similar with Japanese, UK PSP is compatible with Japanese one to view UMD movies  as both of them are in region code 2.

PSP from all countries can play all PSP games, the only problem will be with UMD movies, if you buy US PSP, u can play UMD region code 1 only just like in DVD player.

Anyone knows the price of games here in BKK? i have only NSF U,  I'd like to know the price of Lumines , if you alredy bought one please tell me the price.

    thanks.

between 1400 and 1800B in my experience. Lumines is old, so probably at the cheaper end of that range.

these prices assume you arn't stupid enough to buy from central, robinsons or similar. if you are, games are 3500B+

  15. I'm still trying to understand all the nuances of the various regional models and firmeware levels. If anyone has a good FAQ URL I'd welcome it (I've Googled a fair amount so far.).

I am working on the following assumptions:

1.) ver. 1.5 can play games off the memory stick, but ver. 2.0 can not?

    2.) ver 2.0 has a web-browser but ver 1.5 does not?

3.) One can upgrade/downgrade between ver 1.5 and 2.0 at will?

4.) All PSP's have 802.11 (WiFi) built in?

Finally, do all the various regional platforms have the same basic hardware (processor), memory (internal) and operating software?

I'm not even onto the video formats/codecs yet. :o

    1. kind of correct. you can use a downgrader to fool the PSP into thinking it's 1.5.0

    2. correct

    3. umm... kind of correct. right now it's a little hit and miss.

    4. yes.

    5. (your "finally") - yes, unless you count the firmware as o/s then, no. current you can find 1.5, 1.5.1, 2.0 but most "experienced" retailers in BKK are selling Japp PSP with 1.5.0 if they can.

you may like to browse this forum for more on whats going on in the grey area of PSP land:

    http://forums.maxconsole.net/forumdisplay.php?f=80

I thought I'd just add as well that everywhere is now selling PSP games on cd for around 150B each (for those who can't d/l them) and many stalls - my fave in 6th floor MBK inc. - will show you how to get them on a Memstick and up and running, as well.

  16. So Theres no general Price of a PSP in thailand

Well if you go to a shop like Central, or B2S, the price is around 22000, whereas if you go to a shop in MBK or Panthip, the price is around 8000 - 9000.

Same with games - go to Central, they are up to 4000, go to MBK, they are below 2000.

I got mine in MBK, jap import, FW1.50, sandisk 1g 4900.

  17. F.E.A.R. just oozes quality and is the best FPS since HL2. Destined to be a classic for sure and I will be buying the ORIGINAL of this one. Graphics in the demo are even better than HL2, just a shame there is no widescreen option.

    The best FPS since HL2?

Isn't it the only FPS since HL2? :o Nothing else springs to mind on pc...
