Who is blackmailing you for money.The money is yours and stays in your account until you spend it,the immigration are only asking for proof that you have sufficient funds to live here,just like if you take your thai wife to USA or UK.

I had a visit a couple of days ago from a young Policeman who informed (T/wife) every ferang in/or around Surin will be checked up on. I provided him with fingerprints and a photo after the 2 page Thai form was completed by him.

The blue ink has gone now and I hope that doesn't mean I will be deported

I confirm what you say. I and other expat friends around Sangkha (Surin) have all been visited or had to go to the local police station.

I was told that the reason for doing this - as another member mentioned - was for identification purposes should there be an accidental death. As well as the photo and fingerprints, he also asked me for:-

any personal indentification features in case of say death by fire by which relatives you confirm it's me

&

a 'fee' of B100 (which some refused!).

On the light hearted side, 1 friend refused to give his finger prints so to save face the policeman put friend's wife's finger prints on the form instead!!!

Scared of the big brother concept od is he doing something illegal.About time Thailand got their act in order and started to have a data base of all tourists and expats just in case something happens.Why do people panic so much when the country is trying to get more professional like most countries.

If you were in any country in the world and decided to spend all your money then start moaning,nothing would be done.Your house possibly doesnt belong to you,if it does then sell it and get a rented place,mai pen rai.

So what rules have changed that much in Thailand to make us all complain this much.I dont see some rule changes have affected me,as i came with enough money to be secure all my early retirement.It takes balls to leave the uk when you know you can be taken care of even if you are skint,but if one plans well this country is fine.I have allowed for 5% inflation per annum and worked out my money when i get my pension/serps,and some savings that mature,shit i will be rich when i am old hehehehehe.

On all my trips to LOS I had avoided Pattaya up until now,heeding all warnings of how terrible it was there but this time I decided that I had to see for myself...and this is what I found...

I booked into a very nice hotel called Jomtien Palm Beach,it had huge rooms and was full of holidaying Russian couples.My friend and I booked separate but adjoining rooms,the swimming pool on the front terrace was absolutely enormous.

We found some very nice restaurants along the promenade at Jomtien beach,good food and reasonably priced.Along Walking Street we discovered even better seafood,the Lobster House became a firm favourite of ours,excellent Thermidor and a fine selection of red wines from around the World to accompany.

But something wasn't quite right,there was something in our midst that didn't add up but we couldn't quite put our finger on it.Then we realised we were not alone,walking among us,hardly sparing us a second glance was...

It was a once in a lifetime chance to study this rare breed up close and in all his glory,an opportunity we couldn't pass up...

I eat too much realy but a 7-10k walk most days burns the rubbish off.My height is 6ft and i went from 81k to 90k over a few months,including a trip back to the uk with my mum giving me so much english,rubbish food.I cut down on the rice and made up with veg curries made by my brill gf,and plenty of fruit with a few spuds during the week.Cut right down on the coke in Sangsom and had soda with a splash of lime in,even though i only drink twice a week,i must have put away over a bottle of coke each night out.

My weight now is 84k and i am big boned too so i feel realy healthy and my stomach fat has gone.Just started to wear my clothes that were tight a few months ago.

I found that in Pattaya, western wholesale have the best, Wayne does a great job and they have good casings that are imported and not the cheap synthetic ones that make you think you are eating a sausage covered in plastic.

Lucky i dont drink much beer,but sangsom and coke can be bought from 20 baht up to 70 baht(bars only).No wonder many bars are empty,just ask how much a beer/sangsom is before you go in and i would expect the answer to be expensive in an empty bar.The competitive bars are mainly full to the rafters and they have the right idea.

If there are many prozzies on the streets,i agree the police should move them on,as they do in Pattaya,well the europeans anyway,as the thais dont get moved on.

I dont mind sex for sale in bars but too sleazy on the streets and will make the area look a slum and no doubt drugs alley too.Pattaya beach rd is spoilt byt thai prozzies,with plenty of hassle from the men with dicks gender too.Its a shame realy as i have not walked that side of beach road in the night time for over 4 years,but the day time is ok for a gentle jog and much better than handshaking the indians.

Very reasonable request.I think some foreigners are scared to give too much details for a visa.If this stops one more scammer,robber,druggie then it will be a good thing.
