  1. I would say ผมขอออนเงินให้เพั่ิอนนะครับ

    Try โอนเงิน rather than 'ออน'.

For additional clarity (though the sentence you give is fine with the exception of that one word, and the typo in 'เพื่อน'), you could say ขอโอนเงินไปยังบัญชีของเพื่อน.

Yup โอน is the correct word, ออน just sounds similar.

โอน is just the english word "own" transliterated into thai, which evolved to mean the transfer of money from one account to another.

  2. THere is more information on the card than is printed. I am aware that some concession type information such as disability and I believe occupation are encoded.

Thats only the new ones, the older ones dont have a microchip yet, i made mine in '08-no chip.

Perhaps a connection with the family name could connect to the Pheua Thai Part, Thaksins allies/extended family, etc.

  3. Presumably you raise this issue because of the large number of (middle class) Thais protesting (via the social media of Facebook etc. )against the supposed media bias of the Western press (CNN is particulary targetted).

Certainly the Western TV press is vague in explanations and sensationalist in tone. But of course it is. There barely can be a sentient being left on the planet who expects TV news to answer the question 'why'. If you want this answered then you must read.

As for bias, everyone is biased. There is no such thing as neutral since it presupposes a Truth, that if only we looked hard enough we could all agree upon. If you even raise a topic you are displaying a bias by creating the framework for debate.

What is odd about the furore over the Western press bias is the lack of protest about the astonishingly unreasonable Thai press. The Thai press is intentionally biased. I know from insider sources on a certain channel that when a reporter wanted to show a soldier throwing a grenade she was told they must not show it. The Thai press is mostly owned by the Thai government or Thai military. A quick check on Wikipedia can verify this claim.

What this furore is really about is the fundamentally incompatible viewpoints of the Westerner and the Thai. The Westerner finds coups totally repulsive and unforgivable in all circumstances. The Thai is blase about them because they are so used to them. So when a Westerner says Abhisit is illegitimate he is absolutely right from his viewpoint. It does not matter a jot that Abhisit was elected to parliament and has formed a coalition governemnt. All that matters is the method that started the process to get him to power started in 2006 with a coup. That's it. So the foundational position of the Westerner looks biased to the middle-class yellow-leaning masses.

Very true but is it fair to say the foreign media is bias when Thai media is 10x more bias?

Thai media is biased, everyone knows it, but i expected more from an internationally respected foreign media.

  4. I read the Headline and I decided to create a couple of pictures [Photoshop using pictures available from the internet]

Thanks to Alan Taylor for the pictures that I used as backgrounds, and Google images for the phoenix pictures.

  5. Since 90% of the thai population doesn't understand a word english or have ever heard about John Lennon previously in there life this is has the same effect as if the US government would play a song of a popular Thai singer for one of their flasbacks about the Grenada war.

    What is the point?

The general tune of the song is sad

and there is a Thai song version so i guess this if for the Farangs in Thailand.

  6. My favorite color shirt is red, and half my closet is red shirts but it has not been used for almost 3 months now.

BTW "Garyh" its THaksin, not Taksin.

Thaksin is the corrupt politician, who make promises he cant keep and tried to divide thailand and incites violence in a Kingdom that no longer accepts his presence.

King Taksin is the war hero who regained Ayuthaya and became the only King during the era of Thonburi (as capital city).

  7. All I've heard is they are trying to set up a low interest loan for affected peoples, but their main concern now is to get the roads cleared of bombs+get food and water to the people in the danger zone (who have lived without food-because they cant get out- and water-because government turn of water and electricity in certain areas).

  8. CRES countered this by saying they did not have enough holding places for the leaders, and now today they have been properly placed in custody, however after the photos i've seen im more inclined not to believe them.

Some people are saying they should start a channel, like Panda Channel, but rather-Terrorist Channel [24 hours live terrorist watch]

  9. Thai news this morning says he is still at large and suspected to enter the monkhood where he will be immune from prosecution.

If he is immune when a monk, then make sure he live like a monk to help poor someplace in far away village, that would be worse than jail.

But i doubt that will happen someone mad enough and will waste one bullet on him

Monks can still be prosecuted, there was a story about a monk commiting a crime (before the red protest), the police tried to make the monk give up his monkhood which he declined so they took him to the station with the monk clothing still on his back.

  10. Rumors that Arisman was arrested and taken to Naresuan Camp in Cha-Am was shot down by CRES. CRES stated that there was no report from the POlice, Government nor CRES to suggest that Arisman was captured.
