Yanmar 45 hp marine engine, hot or cold, has to be cranked over around 4 to 6 times before it will start and run, Using pre heat, from cold.
Also after priming. My own experience in the past, on car engines this would indicate low compression. The engine hot does not breath thru the rocker cover or dip stick tube.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Regards
Thank you.

After waiting 5 months my Bangkok Bank Account London is soon to be opened, confirmation is to be posted to me this week.
How much in Pounds sterling can you transfer on a regular basis, to my Bangkok Bangkok Bank Forex Account here in Thailand.
Also can money be transferred out of London into other Banks Forex Accounts.
Paying money into The London Branch, can this only come from your UK designated Account. Is there a limit on the amounts you can transfer in.
Can money be paid in from other sources, am selling a property in The Uk, can the proceeds be paid into the London branch of Bangkok Bank.
Thank you

Hi All, after having the head gasket changed, at workshop, car ran ok apart from oil leak from valve cover gasket, I removed distributor to replace with new gasket. Timed ignition at 10 degrees before TDC using strobe light, on number one spark plug lead. Firing order is marked on the distributor 1342 anti clock wise. Number one being on the compression stroke, checked by turning engine and feeling for air being pushed up the one cylinder, ie both valves closed. replaced spark plug leads all plugs firing. Could the valve timing belt have slipped?. Engine will not run smooth , will not idle, runs really badly. Thank you in advance. Regards Tom

Hi All, I have owned a Daihatsu 600 cc samlor here in Pattaya for 10 years.
Firstly you need a driving license for a tuk tuk, needs a reverse gear so you can complete the test by reversing app 25 meters.
Have polar bor insurance only, now not so many companies will insure as no number plate or registered, present insurance company goes by chassis number and paperwork issued when I bought the machine.
Have tried numerous occasions to register , told not possible unless maybe you are Hotel or such other.
Paid around 75000 baht, in Bangkok could have bought new from manufacturer for 300000 Baht registered.
In the past 10 years have been stopped around 5 times driving around Pattaya and traveling to Chonburi and Rayong, told not legal, but I do have the license insurance and some documentation which the police are surprised to see, fined between 200 and 400 baht each occasion.
Thank you

These 2 batteries are on my recently acquired boat.
The boat maintenance guy, informs me that I can only charge one at a time, the switch up, charges the 200AMH bat, the switch down the 150 AMH Battery.
The engine starts off either.
Has told me I cannot link both together positive to positive negative to negative to charge both whilst the engine is running and remove the wire linking both together after the engine is stopped.
I would have thought and in my experience he is incorrect.
Please advise me.
Thank you

Hi All, my own experience and observations. Before buying a 6 Meter fibre boat with inboard diesel engine went into Pattaya Marine office, was informed would need registering ,around 8 to 12000 Baht. This to be done in my TGF name. Were we to be caught without we would be in big trouble, not specified. TGF was instructed to go to Laem Chabang Port to start proceedings, after which to back to Pattaya Marine Office for them to do the inspection, who then pointed out would need a safety certificate, to include working navigation lights, bilge pumps, fire extinguisher and life jackets, and not to put in the sea till boat registration is complete at Laem Chabang , a registration book will be issued in my TGF,s name. I also have noticed similar craft Bang Saray not registered and others for sale Thailand unregistered. Regards Tom

Do you mean the entire system is still in the car and it could be used but you "gave your word"
so it won't be used and the Department of Land Transportation where happy with that ?
Yes that is correct

Hi All, took my Suzuki Caribian for the annual road tax. Was told by the officials that a certificate was needed again for The LPg Tank.
So off to the LPG shop I take my Jeep to to get the certificate, told tank to old.
Asked about the cost of a replacement 7500 Baht, inquired about having the tank removed.
A Thai Garage owner was having LPG serviced, he explained to me that I did not need to remove the tank, just tell then at The Land Transport Office, I will not be using The LPG.
He quoted me including the road tax of 600 Baht, a total of 2000 Baht to have this procedure done, as it would normally cost 1000 Baht to get the certificate + 600 Baht +200 Baht for the test fee and the fact I would not have to go back to The Land Transport office, seemed like a bargain, although I was very sceptical, he says no need to pay me till paperwork finished and entered into the cars registration book.
5 days later, book returned, and entered will not be using LPG.

Hi All, have taken my car many times, yes you can take it Via Nan.
As said you will need a blue passport book for your motor, obtained at The DLT offices.
Take your passport, drivers registration book, insurance, if the car is on finance or rented will need their permission.
Insurance is available once you have passed the check points, but not on Sundays, you can buy it for a few weeks or a year.

Hi All, as you pass through the toll booth and pay the toll, the toll booth screen shows your balance.
I also pay online with my Kasikorn Bank account to top up my card, use it on both my cars by just holding it out of the window, a Guy in front of me had his taped to the end of a pole and being held out his window.

Hi All, for my Audi TTs, was considering buying a suction cup bicycle roof rack, to carry only one bike, as no purpose made option appears to be available.
The car has a vinyl wrap fitted to the whole of the car.
Has any one had any experience of these racks and would it also make a difference having the wrap on the car.
The suction cup bar has three cups at the front and one at the rear.
Thank you in advance.
