  1. Am thinking of driving to Malaysia and crossing at Pengkalan Kubor is this possible, have passport for the car, what about insurance, can you buy just for a few weeks or does it have to be for 1 year.

Alternatively can we park up safely and cross on foot, we wish to end up in either Tumpat or Khota Baharu and take the jungle train to Singapore.

Any information would be thank fully received.

    Regards Tom

  2. Recently had installed into my Nissan SR20 DET Greddy Turbo TD06-20G with Sard injectors, a new F-Con HKS gold colour ECU. This was tuned to run on 91 gasohol, but the engine will not rev to more than 5000rmp max in third gear hard throttle, since have had LPG installed with a higher output regulator, same problem persists.

Have been told it is the ECU, but on the other hand it is the fuel pump, this needs to changed to a higher rate pump, if this is the case what PSI rated pump should I install.

The LPG, can any thing be done here.

Any information would be gratefully received, thank you in anticipation.

  3. Hi All, when replacing the old silver F-Con ECU, with a new F-Con, is just a matter wiring in, using the harness that is already in place, plug and play so to speak?. All the connectors do appear to be the same as the old.

Does the new F-CON come in standard middle of the road tune, which then needs to be remapped to suit the engine set up I have now?

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Regards Tom

  4. The F-Con was remapped on the road, by K.Bon, he was recommended by a member of this website, he called to see me with a colleague adjacent to my home on his way back from Bira, agreed to pay him 10000 Baht, he did not make a charge for the work, which surprised me.

The F-Con started to smoke after 30 seconds of running the engine next morning, turned off ignition, disconnected the battery.

A burnt out diode or transistor as well as a chip were both in evidence after the acrid burning smell.

As far as I know no problems were evident during the tuning, an exhaust gas analiser was used as well as a lap top connected.

  5. Had my F-con piggy back ecu remapped, it burnt out next morning after 30 seconds of engine running, F-con Bangkok say it cannot be repaired.

Does any one know of a good electrician who can check and reinstate the original SR20 DET ECU.

The engine also has a turbo and sard injectors.

Have had no luck with people saying they will turn up and sort the problem.

Luckily the car is at my home in Pattaya Near the Dolphin Round about at the bottom of Pattaya Nua Road. but cannot be driven.

    Regards Tom

  6. HI All, I always fill my LPG tank to the maximum, I find you can get between 5 and 10 liters more into the tank after the pump says full, is this likely to lead to a problem, this I do on long journeys to save to many fuel stops.

To date we have owned a Suzuki Caribean, A Jeep Cherokee and two 4 liter Wranglers with no engine problems, although The Suzuki and on one occasion the first Wrangler refused to switch back to petrol, both faults easily fixed. No overheating problems, engine oil stays clean, oil pressure reads ok.

The Cherokee and the latest Wrangler have a valve saver fluid container fitted.

On long runs we get app 6.5 to 7 kilometers per liter at 1900 revs 90 to 100 kph.

  7. I owned a Jeep Cherokee for a couple of years, think it was around 1990, ran on LPG, had no real problems in that time, sold it on and got my money back, bought it from Manhiem Auctions in Bangkok, did around 6.75 kilometers per liter long runs of 1000 kilometers going up country, am now on my second 4.0 liter Wrangler, again on long runs 6.50 kilometers per liter, the most recent one have had valve saver fitted at around 1500 Baht, the first one got more than my money back after 2 years, no problems, ran on LPG, the guy who bought it from me more than happy.

  8. Hi All, problem solved, after discovering the map sensor was the problem I investigated further, the wiring had become frayed where it went into the wiring loom, this was caused by the lpg valve having a too long a bolt fitted, so every time you passed over rough surface this made contact with the wires, causing the engine not to run properly or short out the map sensor causing the engine to stop.

Thank you All for your input.

  9. Hi All, returned to day with all three licenses, they were a little reluctant to renew The Samlor license, i.e motor tricycle, ( tuk tuk ) as far as I know at the time I obtained this I was the first foreigner in Pattaya to do so, it being a separate driving test to

the car and motor cycle.Documents required were 3 original certificates of residency, 3 separate Doctors certificates, 3 pass port copies, front page and visa.
