  1. Hi All, my Mazda RX8, Nissan SR20 DET,Greddy TD06 - 20G Turbo, Sard racing injectors, no spark at the plugs.

The car is at a garage in Pattaya after having the engine repaired due to a seized crank shaft bearing.

These two problems occurred at the same time.

Electrician says Nissan ECU is ok, his opinion the F-con is the problem.

His proposal is to remove the the F-CON and wire in the Nissan ECU direct.

Will the Nissan stand alone ECU work with this engine until a solution can be found.

Is there a reset button on this F-Con unit, 3 green lights out of 4 are showing.

HKS Bangkok, say they cannot check whether the F-Con is ok or not without having the car with them.

Does any one know of any one who could check the ECU and repair it if need be, if I were to take it or post to them.

Any further help or comments would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Tom

  2. Hi All, have a K&N washable reusable high flow cotton air filter. K&N state I should use a K&N cleaner and air filter oil, or comparable air filter cleaner and oil, any suggestions what I could use to clean this filter and where if needed be to buy it from.

    I am living in Pattaya.

    Thank you in anticipation Tom

  3. Hi All, from time to time I have parts delivered from The States for my Jeep Wrangler, if they cannot send by USPS I find a company that will, because have found when shipped by USPS I have no tax to pay, DHL and FedX the tax is often equivalent or more than the cost of the parts and shipping cost.

Although on the face of it USPS shipping costs are higher than the other two.

Another alternative is to have the goods sent to a forwarding company, then sent on to you, or send to a friend you can then forward onto you.

    Regards Tom

  4. Considering buying a second hand boat, app 1 year old, fiber glass body, 15ft, 70hp outboard with receipt, does this need to be registered, what are the implications if it is not?. What would be the cost's involved?.

Thank you in anticipation for any input.

    Regards Tom

  5. I am considering buying a second hand fiber glass boat,17ft, app 1 year old, equipped with70 hp outboard engine on trailer, it is not registered, what are the implications of this, what needs to be done to register the boat, is it necessary for me to do this.

    Thank you Tom

  6. My own experiences filling up with LPG is that at some stations there seems to be less pressure at the fuel pumps, so I often get less gas in my tank, I keep a record as I am driving so then have a good idea how many liters should be going in, then I how many more kilometers the jeep will travel before needing a refill, this also lets me keep track of the kilometers per liter it is achieving and how well it is performing.

  8. Thank you All,.

Hi Lostinisaan, thank you for your advise, did some further check's on the car to day, there is no input power to the black box electrical unit which is depicted in the the first lot of thumb nails, ignition turned on, so am I to assume then that this unit may not be at fault after all and the auto electrician is mistaken or fobbed me off.

Wednesday taking a trip up to Chiang Saen, girl friends family live in that part of Thailand.

    Regards Tom

  9. Hi All, I do have an OBD 2 scanner, but am assured there is no where to plug this in to my car, because of the F-con ECU.

The second hand unit I tried in the car was the only one I could find in Pattaya and around, have had a new one on order for a week now from a motor factor shop, but as yet they have not been able to source one. Could this unit be the problem, being the cause of no spark.

The car was running at the time of the flood on Beach road, I was caught by the wash off a bus, the engine stuttered then stopped , then unable to crank the engine with the starter motor, the car was flooded to above the starter motor. One of the big issues with this car is the fact it has 2 ecu's, it confuses and puts people off dealing with it.

    Regards Tom

  10. My car was partially flooded, the water covered the starter motor, the car then cut out and will not start, the starter has been removed and serviced, engine cranks over ok, fuel is being delivered by the fuel pump, but no spark at the plugs.

Two ecu's are fitted to this car, the standard Nissan SR20 and an F-Con HKS, the standard ecu appears to be ok a red neon showing, the F-Con has a gren light showing.

Have been told that this unit in the photo is the problem, then again have been told this is not the problem, have tried a second hand unit in it's place, still no spark.

There is no water ingress into the engine.

Please advise as to what the problem could be.

    Thank you Tom

  11. Hi All, I need to collect a friends car, manual, from Chinat,to Pattaya around 400 kilometers, is it permissible to do this with a tow rope or do you have to use a ridgid bar, can we go on The Toll Roads.

Can any one suggest any other alternatives, can we rent a trailer or spectacle frame in or around Pattaya.

Where could we rent or buy a ridged bar.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Regards Tom

  12. I had a similar problem with a 2.8 Ford Granada, would drive no problem then would cut out, you could leave the car stood for an hour or add more petrol to the tank, then it would start and run no problem.

The cause of all this mayhem was a balloon in the tank, being sucked into the fuel line as the pump drew fuel from the tank.

The reason the guy sold me the car, as they could not find the problem.

    Regards Tom
