  1. Last I looked my Samui flight today was rescheduled to leave 2 hours after original departure time. If I had been on that flight would have missed my connection. Sometimes you need to think outside of the box and improvise. Haze (to get back on topic), was less in Surat than Samui but quite bad in KL.

  2. Flew out today, but changed to fly out on Air Asia from Surat as I had an international flight out of Don Muang same day. My wife, who was staying in Bangkok, decided to try Samui. She was put on an earlier flight with her priority wait list. Original flight was delayed 90 minutes last I looked.

  3. The right kind of manual therapy - sports massage/cross fiber friction/myofascial release - can can break up the mats of adhesions (very small scar tissue inside the body) that can cause this problem. That is probably what the Shockwave treatment is designed to do. Following up with an exercise program such as the Thera-Ban and improving how you use the elbow would support that manual therapy. Unfortunately, that is not an easy kind of treatment to find in Thailand. Some Western (especially Australian) trained local physios might do this. Best bet to find someone like this is at a specialized sports medicine clinic.

  4. This is not the OJ Simpson trial and what evidence should the judge make an objective analysis on? All i can see is an alleged forced confession and a DNA sample that cannot be verified. It seems you need to take a leaf out of your own book and think objectively.

you are right though, I too hope the judge can analyse the evidence and take it on its merits, from what I can see the B2 will then be going home with their family.

Have you considered that the only side you got information from is from the Defenses Side reporting to the Media. Have you seen the Prosecution in the last 10 months standing outside with Reporter and talking about this case like them. Well I haven't. So just because the Prosecution doesn't get into a Cat Fight with the Defense Team outside with the Media, it doesn't mean everything said about this case is true.

I personally would rather wait to hear the information given after the Verdict is handed down, and if any is given and available then. Only the people in the court room can tell what has gone on, to a certain extent as they won't see all documents, but the Judges will. Reporting from the Defense Team seems to me that it might be biased, considering we all know what side they are on. But up to you if you want to believe every word they say.

It's evident that the people that claim there is no case against the Burmese are getting 90% of their information regarding the trial from statements coming from the defense, there is an obvious confirmation bias at work.

Yes, there certainly does seem to be obvious confirmation bias at work, at least in many of your own statements!

  5. Clear coconut oil is usually cold pressed. Amber colored oil is heated to separate the oil, the quality goes down with the heat. People taking coconut internally as a nutritional supplement are more concerned about this than those using it on the skin or hair. Any kind of coconut oil can go rancid, always best to smell to check. Take some good whiffs of bad oil and the smell will probably stay with you and help you identify the fainter smell later in oil just starting to go bad.

  6. Would recommend the banana ash as a high intensity (likely to burn the plants if not carefully applied) and easily stored (in watertight buckets). Washes away in the rain, so not really a mulch, but I was responding to the comments about using banana stalks as mulch. Banana mulch tends to be very messy, durable, and a haven for all sorts of things such as scorpions and centipedes.

  7. Thanks for the replies. Will probably go the later date and hope that driving ourselves will reduce the time spent shoulder to shoulder with other tourists enjoying the chilly weather and mountains. Maybe time to get my down jacket out of storage laugh.png Is there a best time to see the famous white temple to avoid the bus tourism?

  8. There is not a one to one relationship between saying the correct question in Thai and and having a sales clerk understand you. Just ask a Thai person, like your wife (if you have a Thai wife). Thai people are used to it, so rarely get frustrated in an evident manner.

  9. After 10 years in Thailand, will finally be visiting Chiang Rai. My (Thai) wife and I live in Samui but will be moving to Chiang Dao in a few years. She wants to see a resort on the river built with environmentally friendly concepts to get ideas for our property. I am just glad to get a chance to visit what I hope to be a lovely and interesting part of the North. The best dates for us would either be the 3rd week in November (maybe not yet winter coolness or not the best time for flowers?) or the middle part of December (after Father's Day and before Xmas (maybe already totally jammed with Thai and foreign visitors?). Any members of this forum care to recommend one or the other based on your experiences? We will be driving up from Chiang Mai, I hope. Should I go up one way and back the other? All suggestions appreciated.

  10. Ancient City near you for a day trip. Second Sukotha as a place to goi,a friend similar to your sister enjoyed that. Luang Prabang is lovely, not sure if the boat is a good idea, check comments on line about it's comfort and safety. Lots of scams here, good to go over some of them with her if she is going off by herself. Do you have a Thai friend that could be a guide, like a niece?

  11. This is the Thai way,,,Shut up and put up with it we all have to ,We all get angry about this, bah.gif

Only entitled farang like yourself get angry and worked up over such a benign situation. Everyone else knows how to go with the flow in a developing country with limited resources.

    ty

In many cases the limited resources include an open parking spot less than 20 meters from the place they double park. Agree that getting angry is not a good response, disagree with you about the lack of consideration.

  12. some notes from last weeks experience:

applicants were allowed to carry a bag into embassy, unlike what is stated on web site

wife spent about 2 hours standing in line inside the building. Wear comfortable shoes

her photo had too dark a background. was able to make another photo inside but added time to process

in her case, an easy application to get approved. biggest question was about me, the husband, think that he was trying to find out if she was going to go in on a tourist visa and then apply for a change of status was. She replied, yes she knew she could apply for a green card, and yes she wanted a tourist visa instead. That worked for her.

Didn't feel anybody was very friendly except for the helpful and very low status lady security guard at the front.

I would say that is a stressful experience, not made easier by the staff. Urge your wife to stay cool, think about what she is about to say, and keep the answers brief. My wife said many applicants were stressed, angry, or losing their cool.
