  1. I see a glimmer of hope for the young lady who caused the accident. She has a mother who has a lot of courage and a fair amount of compassion.

Come on, I personally think it’s all an act. She’s just trying to save the family name and 30,000B compensation what a joke. I really do hope this underage teen driver gets what should be coming to her but I highly doubt she’ll get in any trouble. Imagine if that was one of you Sons or Daughters who died in such a way and some lady was offering 30,000B compensation. I would through it back in her face.

  2. I have resided in Thailand for 13 years and have been in the tourism business for all of that time. i have noticed only one year that we did not have some problem that was reported internationally. From scams and ripoffs to Sars, chicken flu and violent politics this country is determined to destroy itself. Corruption is more prevalent than before and I personally have watched as the police will not help law abiding citizens and they police kowtow to "influential people" who are ripping off everyone including Thais. If the good people of this country don't stand up and fight back soon then visitors are going to shy away from here and go to other east Asian countries.

You have hit it in one. It is a 4th world country "if that" and there is none so blind as those that do not wanrt to see. The reasons are all there staring them in the face and they either don't want to or ignore them.

It's always easier to blame things like currency rates or recessions elsewhere rather than face the problems that are all home grown.

Wonder if any influential government persons ever read these posts. If they do I don't suppose it alters anything and often wonder why so much time and energy is put into writing them. Guess its just a way of releasing frustration...any way we are here and presume no where else to go so best just to get on with life. C'est la vie monsieur.!!

  3. As a northern Thai, Mr. Super-Duper, he's probably a much better litmus test than you are. But, as you will see if you read my post, I was talking about my village in general.

now now khun 63 posts! I was simply balancing the 'Thailand hates Thaksin' rubbish - if this is true hold elections and find out!

Would you say that under the current Government things have got better or worse than under previous administrations. Leaving aside the red shirt issues, corruption etc do you think the general feeling of well being by Thais has increased. The general consensus of opinion from ex pats who have lived here for longer than the 11 years I have been here is that "grenjai" consideration is disappearing from Thai's personality, and that rudeness and lack of consideration of others is becoming the order of the day. In fact it seems to me that Thailand does not really want to be part of a gobal world and is becoming more insular and inward looking and has no real interst in what is hapenning in the outside world and is becoming an every man for him self culture. Maybe it was always like this but I recall 11 years ago this was really the land of smiles

  4. No problem, contact your embassy. The embassy has to certify that the marriage certificate is true. Once that is done you go to a translation agency to have it translated into Thai. next step if to have it certified by the Thai Foreign Ministry, consular section. (The translation agency can take care of this for you). Once that is done you go to an amphur/district office and have the wedding recorded into the Thai wedding register.

Immigration will want a copy of the entry into the Thai wedding register, the Khor rhor 22 form.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

  5. What a turn around.. They should give this guy a medal of the highest order.. Like the earlier post said "thais getting screwed by farang, unheard of". Look what happens in thailand everyday we get screwed over in every sector, it's so refreshing to read a story like this and see the boot on the other foot.

Maybe if this did happen more often thais might treat us fairly, equally, the same same, that's all I ask.. Very good story, maybe a leson for the thai people.. :jap:

What a pathetic answer. These people worked hard for their money and you want to give a medal to the guy who ripped them off!. You must have a miserable life, having thoughts like this!

Agreed....J have been here 11 years and and cannot think of any occasion where I have been knowingly ripped off. The odd mistake for sure but that's no different to any country. Just cannot understand why people stay here if they are so disillusioned by the way they are allegedly treated.. They must live a miserable life whinging all the time

  6. Hey guys

I was at the immigration yesterday to get my usual 6 month extension (class of 2006) , and to my surprise there was a Que, never encountered it before in PR room I waited for my turn for 15 minutes and found out that all the 4 persons before me were from the class of 2006 tried to read those names but does not succeed, just out of curiosity is any one of you guys were there yesterday?

Note you have got a 6 month extension. I have a 12 month extension so may be worth your while asking for 12 next time to save you the hassle . Can't see any approvals in the foreseeable future though noticed on an earlier post that a few from the 2006 class have been approved. Saw in a recent British Chamber of Commerce Mag. that the PM had visited the Chamber and the Director had specifically asked why the log jam and the PM said he would look into it so maybe it was 7 from the Chamber that were accepted. Any way good luck to them if that was the case.

  7. For you ardent religious folk, do you honestly still believe there is a god after all that has come to pass with this bunch? As a CM resident, I just hope those with balls in their draws come down on them like a ton of bricks if there's so much as a mouse fart... although why they are even allowed to do their thing is beyond me. They should be shown no quarter given their MO.

Anyway I thought under a state of emergency in Bkk demos weren't allowed. Am I missing something.
