  1. I believe that us expats legally married to Thais should be treated much better, we've given our wives one thing that Thailand couldn't give them. A LIFE.
  2. As there's no U turn at the top of North Road I find that Makro is a bit difficult to get to. Whilst Makros neat and veg is excellent, many of their packs are for business use.
  3. I fell for a lady boy years ago but I couldn't find the second hole from the back of her neck.
  4. I've been using Best Supermarket for years, I've always been very satisfied with their shop in general. It's even better now as I do all my shopping on foot and I live a few minutes away. I think they let some of their stock run down prior to transferring to their new location. My experience tells me that any stock shortages will soon be fixed as they get settled in their new location.
  5. I'm sure Thai's decision will shock the World.
  6. I get several of those phone calls every day, if they speak Thai I just cut them off without speaking. If my wife calls me she always speaks English. Thai people never seem to realize that banks never talk business over the phone, if in doubt they should cut the phone call and go to their local branches. It took me ages to get this into my wifes head.
  7. My best friends parents were from the Ukraine, they did a runner around WW2 time and my friend was born in Germany. They emigrated to Australia in the early 50's. My friends mum was a lovely old lady who used to cry telling me what she went through as a young girl. Forced prostitution, torture and starvation where the main issues as she was brought up as a Roman Catholic.
  8. Geez, it must've been serious as there was no mob there finger pointing/
  9. I can understand a guy in this situation, going back 25 years ago I told her in doors that as I pay for everything I do have most of the say. She wasn't very happy at the time so I told her it's my way or the highway. As years passed by she has realized that she can always go back to her former life. We get on much better now and her family are very welcome at my home for 3-4 day stays but certainly no cash advances.
  10. A few weeks ago we got ants in our bed, I regularly sprayed it with vinegar and now the ants have moved on.
  11. I've never been scammed in over 24 years, I always check my bin when every ordered drink is delivered. There are bars that play games with bins but most of the time some farangs get so pissed they simply lose count.
  12. As I'm now 80 years old, married, don't chase pussy and I've also drastically reduced my alcohol intake I find Pattaya very boring considering what my lifestyle was when I hit Sin City 24 years ago.
  13. I live rent free here in Pattaya as I'm I'm now 80 years old I rarely frequent bars and I don't chase pussy. I have a fridge full of food, I drink 2 large bottles of beer daily. My daily expenses would be 400 baht daily and I live very comfortably. I'm a former Aussie National service man and we had everything provided with a monthly salary and that goes back to 1966.
  14. With the reduction of car producing they will probably claim it a victory if the motor accidents are down hence a drop in road fatalities/
  15. The biggest problem is the big companies themselves. Even companies where their annual profits are down give their CEO's enormous annual bonuses. So why shouldn't the unionist seek their slice of the action. If going off shore is the answer then companies should be recruiting their senior management from off shore too.
  16. If there is any insurance just say your GF was driving the car.
  17. Hey Bert, you should work for Fox media, when I did I comment on Thai politics? I only mentioned the exchange rate which affects every farang living in Thailand, even you.
  18. It amazes me how farangs can get themselves into Thai politics in this forum. Personally I don't give a ratz what they do as long as it doesn't affect me. Just remember what our conversion rates were when Thaksin and then Yinluck were in power. Those rates were completely smashed one month later by the coup leaders. They're the ones that should be in jail but of course that will never happen.
  19. After living in Thailand for the past 22 years I'm prepared to sit on the fence on these taxation issues. It maybe another brain fart and when the feasibility is studied closely it will just quietly die away without any official notification as other lame brain ideas have been mentioned.
  20. My brother inlaws son is a Thai cop. He told me that prior to graduating the cadets are required to state their preferred posting. If the preferred posting is Pattaya that's when the brown envelopes come into play.
  21. I know that Leo has the highest calories in Thai beers, so how many calories are in My Beer? Where I live the imported beers are virtually impossible to find.
  22. Hi there, I'm looking for a free antivirus program for my back up laptop, are there any recommendations?
  23. If you keep on raving on then you might miss your plane. I'm an Aussie but unlike you I don't really care what others do, as long as they don't interfere with me.
  24. As a resident in Thailand for the past 22 years may I ask examples of Thaksins dislike for foreigners ? When he was in power all the overseas exchange rates were going great, ENG pound 85 baht, US dollar 45 baht, AU dollar 33.5. A a self funded retiree with a Thai wife that's all that worries me. Everything else is business for Thais.
